What an adorable book store! This was my first time in. Went with a friend for their 6th anniversary party and it was fun. They had mimosas and cookies. They were selling blind date with a book books. My friend actually got a book she really wanted that way! I don't buy anything because I just can't right now, but I'll be back for sure. The service was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxing.

Love love LOVE this place! It has the cutest gifts to buy people and a wide selection of books. If they do not have your book, they will order it for no extra charge and call you when your book is ready. This is how I get all of my books so I can shop small! The customer service is great, and they offer coffee behind the register. They also host book clubs here or let you host your own if you ask! They have a very cute sitting area with couches and a rug. I highly recommend checking them out!

Enchanting little place with book-inspired decor (loved the wall of bookpages). Friendly and helpful staff with the bonus of coffee inside too, each drink name inspired by a book or character. Nice selection of new and used, all organized in a fluid fashion that made me feel right at home. Escaped with only purchasing 3 books, 2 of which were used so my total was under $30! Not too shabby!

I've been visiting Monarch Books & Gifts since it was The Greendoor Bookstore. It's a local indie favorite of mine, and I try to stop by when I'm in the area. A few unique aspects of this store include the coffee bar, fun knickknacks and gifts, and a used book selection. I always find more than I can buy in the store. The employees and owner are always kind and welcoming, making you feel at home. If I were to describe my perfect bookstore, one that has new and used books in addition to coffee would be it!

Very cute indie bookstore that has wonderfully fun names for their drinks and tons of cute non book items as well. Service was polite and helpful! Will be back when I can to support this small local business

It's hard because I'm hovering on whether or not this cute book and gift store is a three or four star rating. I try to be fair and as objective as possible with any review but this one is difficult. Five stars for the aesthetic of this store, if I were to open a book shop it would be close to this, with out the weird clutter. There were piles of just randomness to the back of the store on the right, it was just odd and it's hard to discern where the cash drawer is because the counter is overwhelmingly full. The selection of books and gifts are plentiful but also unique! My issue & cause for a lower rating comes down to two things. 1) A customer should never walk in to a fully operational business and feel like they're at a garage sale where the homeowner was too lazy to mark the prizes on their items and 2) For a business this small, your customer service game better be top-notch. I found myself frustrated because 99% of the products I touched in the store did not have a price on it, no signs, notta. I'm sorry but I don't want to ask, "how much is this?" for every piece I am interested in, it's just tacky and even though our world is completely different now, customer service still ranks #1 on my list of importance. The two gals working weren't rude by any means but they were definitely in their own world and not attentive to the customers shopping in the store. We will go back and give it another chance and know that it is a guessing game for pricing.

The Green Door is a fabulous indie bookstore! The owner, Christin, could not be a more genuine person. She will go out of her way to make your experience great. The store is full of books and great gifts- and a coffee bar! The customer service is above and beyond every time!

This local book shop has a well-curated selection of books and lots of unique gifts as well. There's something for everyone and I love that it's right next to lots of other local businesses and shopping. The staff are very kind and there is some lovely outdoor seating as well! Unfortunately no coffee next door, but there's an ice cream shop with some killer fudge! So this is a great stop for a fun date or solo gift shopping.

I can never get enough of Monarch Books & Gifts. Stopping into this lovely store has never failed to brighten my day. Even since moving from Kansas City I still make sure to order all my books through the store- that is just simply how much I love them and a testament to how much love I have received from them as a customer!! I really and truly can never get enough of this store and the wonderful people who work there! Plus their coffees are simply TO DIE FOR! This is a must see in KC! Thank you Monarch Books & Gifts!!!
