They have a wide variety of genre selections and sections for all tastes. Smartly organized and plenty of vinyl setups and accessories to choose from. A definite spot for finding something great without wasting time.

This is THE prime time spot to shop for vinyl that I've found so far in Kansas City. It's not even close. Mills has the best selection, best organization, best layout and the best employees that help you find your favorites to buy and also recommend you some new favorites you haven't heard before. They keep the classics and their staff favorites in stock at all time and are good about communicating with their patrons about what's new, what's coming in soon, upcoming releases and re stocks and everything in between. Will be a customer for as long as I'm in KC

It's November 5, 2022 went to go in to look at some records etc. and they want you to wear a mask... there's no mask mandate in the city or the state, for that matter a mask will not protect you from covid anymore than getting a covid shot will. In fact both will potentially do you more harm than good. Would not recommend this store for enforcing masks. They should be able to recommend it and let people who want to wear them wear them and let people who are worried about covid or think that the mask is going to protect them wear them. But it should not be a requirement to enter their record store. Guess it's their store so they can do what they want. I won't be spending my money there though that's for sure.

A great place to go diggin in the crates! However, double check the prices. Found a Harry Belafonte record in the $1 crate, asked the cashier if it was really a dollar, he said yes, and I continued shopping. Found a couple more records in the $1-$3 crate, asked another associate, but he was unsure, so I took them up to the register. Come to find out even though the guy told me it was a dollar, the HB record was $5 and a couple of the $1-$3 ones were more than $3. Note to self: Just go by what the tag says when shopping here. I did make some great finds though!

I dig their selection; good amount of new and older. Nice used selection. I also love it when record stores have a few other goodies, like books and record players. I also like that they sell their store t-shirts; it's a nice way to advertise as well as a gift to send someone who doesn't live in KC. I bought a t-shirt for a friend that lives in Wales and she not only loves vinyl but she loves crows, so the shirt a bought was appropriate. Looking forward to returning.

The staff is wonderful and I love the location. They typically have pretty good stock too. I used to go on a pretty regular basis. But I can no longer recommend mills record company to anyone, due to witnessing how the owner treats her staff. I've seen her belittle her clerks multiple times. Even when I was being cashed out, the owner was condescending to me and the clerk. She's also been getting more controlling with customers. It feels like there's a new "rule" every time I enter the store. For example, she found a drink sitting on the counter. The woman went customer by customer accusing them of leaving it. Most of my friends having similar stories about her as well. I'd skip going here all together. Notice how the only positive reviews are from 5-6 years ago...

Once I got this $50 vinyl home and unwrapped it I noticed a large scratch across the entire front cover. The way the vinyl was wrapped was manipulated to cover the scratch, they folded the plastic over the scratch so it could not be seen, then they put it into a second plastic sleeve.I messaged them on Facebook with a picture the day after, and they read my message and did not reply. 2 days after that I messaged again and they never bothered to open it.I asked if I could simply exchange it, and they told me I couldn't without a receipt even though I have bank statements showing purchase and purchased another vinyl with it the same day (which they keep track of in a book on the counter, but he said that doesn't mean anything since it's later in the week. Well if you would have answered my message at the beginning of the week instead of reading then ignoring it.......) I understand the receipt part HOWEVER it is completely unacceptable that they would put anything on the floor with damage without clearly stating there is damage. I have bought from here many times and didn't feel need to ask for the receipt since I TRUSTED them (keyword...trusted) so it's sad that they would treat their customers this way. You think they would want to make people happy!I HIGHLY recommend thoroughly looking at the vinyl cover before you purchase from Mill's even though I could have never known since they PURPOSELY covered it.Definitely will be not be returning here for any future purchases. Good thing there are more record stores close by.

My wife and inIaws have been buying records from this store for my daughter helping to build her collection. I was working at Sk8Bar around the corner so I stopped in with my daughter a couple weeks ago. I bought Bob Shad, Moe Kaufmann, and the Chocolate and Cheese reissue for my kid. I spent around $200. I make sample based music and have been collecting for over 30 years. One associate who's name I didn't know advised that the Ween purchase came with a free poster. I forgot to mention it and so did the fellow who rang me up. No problem I thought, I'll just ring them up and remind them of the Tuesday October 22nd purchase and that I'd love to get my poster. When I did, I mentioned the mocha fella that told me about the poster (remember I didn't know his name). I was treated like a criminal and a racist and the lady said I could return the record if I was dissatisfied. She demanded to see my receipt, etc. I'm a DJ turned electrician. I've opened for Lee Fields and the Expressions and hosted Greg Belson and John Manship in KC. I don't know what kinds of bad experiences this woman has had with people trying to hustle her, but I just wanted the poster that was promised me. She ended up giving me the one off the wall that was covered in tape. I just don't know why it had to become a federal case. It makes me pine for the days of Ron Rooks and Ann Winter. Hey Elan, that website where I picked up those copies of The Anniversary album is called Oldies.com.

The night after Halloween, I went to this storeSee if I can get some records or more.We got a warm welcome from a man in a cap,But we accidently woke voldemorte from her nap.White hair, black mask, green cape, and all,She busted in the chat. She had some gaul !She spat and writhed "one at a time" Who the hell asked her, we were doing fineHaggerd old nag took control,Pointed her spikey finger at the rock n roll.We all scattered to get awayAs she licked her chops at the thought of fresh prey.Following us around from bin to bin,Cackling at her workers with a shit eating grin. And the 14 year old needed to peeBut after 100 bucks, there is no restroom for thee.Advice for voltemort, treat your workers well, Put your ego aside. You're making others' lives hellThe man was nice, voldemorte is an assNext time I need a record, I'm gonna pass
