I took my two granddaughters to this park today and I've been here many times before. We are here in the morning and the smell of the local dump, which is not far away is overwhelming and detracts from the beauty of the park. There are times when there is no smell, but this morning it's awful. The positives about this park is that it has a great bike path and walking trail that loops around the river. It has lots of wildlife and good birdwatching and the trail is recently repaved. My granddaughters input for this park is that it doesn't have enough play equipment and that the smell is terrible and there was a lot of trains running over the bridge that distracted from the quietness.

So, this park smells like rotting trash on fire. It's a beautiful Park, great jungle gym, really good shelter good open area, lots of space and a great walking path, and the putrid rotting whifs of a cities refuse constantly on the horizon due to the landfill just over the hill to the south. Suffice it to say, I couldn't possibly come back to this park. The smell is just too depressing. Why would you put this here? Is it a zoning joke? Somebody lose a bet?The streamway park system is really great throughout this city, connected almost succinctly with bike trails for miles and miles. But this streamway park closest to the landfill and the Kansas River I would definitely not ever visit. Absolutely not.

Really nice playground and shelter with lots of parking but it smells absolutely terrible. It is closely located to Waste Management which is where the scent is coming from. Maybe if you had a stuffed nose or couldn't smell for reason you could have a nice time. I saw multiple bikers ride by covering their noses . I will not be visiting this park again.

Nice trail! We took the dog for a walk around "Nelson Island". The trail follows Mill Creek and meets up with the Kansas River. This spot has open prairie areas and heavily wooded ones. Bring sunscreen and bug spray! We saw lots of turtles, toads, butterflies, and even a snake swimming across the creek. The birds were happily chirping away. Very pretty and relaxing. This is area makes for a great quick getaway from the city. This entrance is the northern most entrance for the trail. There are picnic shelters and a playground available just off the parking lot. A port-a-potty is available, but usually gross, so use the bathroom before you get here.
