Beautiful park to walk through, and plenty of shade if you just want to rest and people watch. This park is adjacent to the Country Club Plaza shopping area, which puts you well within walking distance for food and drink options when you're done soaking in the vitamin free (*D). At the southern end of the park is the J.C. Nichol's Memorial Fountain. Folks were walking, running, and biking on the paved trail around and through the park.I didn't expect to find this beautiful fountain here, but it was a beautiful surprise. The walkways of the park put you less than a block away from Country Club Plaza, but I was well within walking distance of the Kemper Contemporary Museum of Art and Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Great green space.

As someone who runs and walks solo about 50% of this time, this is not a favorite of mine. One would think that with all of the people on the plaza you would feel comfortable, but I don't. There is a hill covered with trees and that section gives me the creeps.

Beautiful park. Huge dinning and shopping district with a huge park to walk or rent scooters and cruise around. Beautiful night after a pretty crazy storm.

I admit it, I have a fountain fetish. I developed it somewhere in my early adulthood. And I definitely got my fill in Montreal and Quebec City. So when I learned that there was this really awesome fountain in Kansas City, I just had to check it out.The JC Nichols Memorial fountain is in Mill Creek Park. To reach it you will go to downtown Kansas City. It is a beautiful stretch of Park land! Seems to be really popular with the locals as well. There were families celebrating a graduation and families taking photos. Even one lady made a picnic with her baby son. It's a great place to bring your pets as well. The fountain itself is amazing. The main sculptural pieces are four horsemen that represent the 4 mightiest rivers in the world: the Seine, the Rhine, the Volga, and the Mississippi. Surrounding the horsemen are children on dolphin. Illuminated, the fountain churns green water constantly and catches your eyes immediately! The green water is a temporary feature in honour of organ donation awareness. The fountain was originally created by Henri-Léon Gréber in 1910. It was Installed in 1960 at its current location and has been renovated a couple times since.Put this one on your to do list when you are in Kansas City next! And check out the beautiful architecture around, too! There's a really lovely mural near the Chuy restaurant, too!

Mill Creek is a somewhat iconic park on the Plaza; a gathering space for protests, prom & wedding photos, fountains, a small trail, workout equipment and overall green space. I'm rounding up in stars a bit because I appreciate green space built in to dense areas like these, but overall, I almost never really come down here. It's kind of weird, I run around here all the time as I've lived semi-close for nearly a decade. Want to know how many times I've run at Mill Creek Park? Zero. The area is just not pedestrian friendly enough for me to feel guided over here. Instead I choose Loose Park up the road, or around the Nelson Atkins just to the east. To me this park is a nice addition, but not really a destination. A lot of the nearby urban areas like Hyde Park and Valentine were designed with green spaces and parks built in similarly. It's a cool element for sure, but it's one that is really made more for people who are right by it. At the end of the day, Loose Park is my choice as it's more of a destination and such a large area, so that's where I end up and will likely keep it that way.

Mill Creek Park is an excellent place to frequent. During the warmer parts of the year the fountain in the park is active. The park has a 3/4 mile circular track with approximately 100 feet of elevation. There is also a workout station with a pull-up bar and other pieces of equipment. This is a great park for relaxing and enjoying the scenery, or working out or walking. I highly recommend this park, this is a great park if you are solo or have family or friends.

Mill Creek Park is not huge but it's an oasis right in the middle of the Plaza section of Kansas City. It's a great park with a historic fountain right at the intersection of several main roads. We passed through the park several times and there were always a number of people enjoying the park and it's amenities. It was a pleasant surprise to find such a nice park right in the middle of a highly urbanized area.

This is one of my favorite parks in the metro. It's got spots to play outdoor games, have a picnic, or relax on the large lawn; if you're looking to exercise, they offer a plethora of machines and equipment scattered throughout the path to support such. The track lap is a little less than a mile around, and it's wife enough to support 2 lanes. I wouldn't recommend visiting when the sun is down (heck, that goes for any Park), but primarily because there's a part of the track that's hidden from public view for about 1/10 of a mile. Parking has rarely been an issue, as it's right off the plaza and you can park right next to the park on the street, but it's busy during the weekend days when the weather's cooperating.

Picture if you will, two built gay men wearing short shorts and tight American Apparel t-shirts walking their big wiener! Well if you see them, let me know. Instead you will see me and my partner trying to get around the loop of Mill Creek Park with our aging 12 year old daschund. None of us built or dare wearing anything too short and definitely not too tight. But none the less, enjoying the beauty and mixed use space of Mill Creek Park right next to the Country Club Plaza.I think it's a great city park. Surrounded by St. Lukes Hospital to the west, Westport to the north, back of Cafe Trio and American Century business strip to the east and Plaza tennis courts to the south. The beautiful JC Nichols fountain sits on the south side of the park. Providing a perfect people watching scenario. In the spring and summer months one is assured to see wedding parties, prom couples and the oh so delightful engagement photo's being taken in front of the fountain. Some beautiful, some tacky but always entertaining outfits and modeling poses! If not being used as a background for any of these photo ops, you will be sure to find kids (and adults) wading or swimming in the fountain. Not my first choice of a swimming hole but I'm not here to judge......just people watch. The fountain is beautiful when blasting water or in a winters frozen state. There is a 1.2 mile circular cushioned asphalt trail that goes around this park. Perfect for dog walking, a little exercise or stroll through the park. There is a little Eco pond on the NE side of the park. Some exercise stations throughout and more than likely some homeless people taking up some space on the park benches, harmless and never seem to be a problem. The middle of the park is often used for volleyball or soccer games. This park gets a lot of use. A lot of charity walks and events take place here. On any given day, you can see a group of protesters lining the south side of the park claiming their stand on a number of issues as cars line up trying to get into the Plaza. It is diverse, it is alive and it makes me feel like I'm part of a big city when I'm at Mill Creek Park.

I was "doing a lap" around the walking trail in Mill Creek the other day with someone new to KC and I explained a lot of things I liked about the space:1. A "cushioned" running track...not asphalt, but not cork...something in between.2. Workout stations with different exercise devices. 3. Large green space4. Awesome city "views" with the American Century buildings towering over you.5. JC Nichols FountainDo I need to keep going? Sure. I'll take another lap.
