A standard Kansas City neighborhood bar.Live music is scheduled four to five times a week. It's a mix of singer songwriters, jam bands and classic rock / oldies. If this sounds like something you like, a calendar is posted on the website.Quick note, the room is a bit small and can fill up for popular performers. You should come early if you want a good spot.Cold beer and basic cocktails are available.A menu full of delicious fried bar food meals will help soak up the alcohol.

We always have a a great time at the Westsider. The music is great (especially when Norm Dahlor is up there!) and the staff is kind. Sometimes quite a bit of time passes before you see a waitress again, but it's a busy place and usually i've had enough drinks that it doesn't matter all that much. The food is good and overall, the prices are great. There is only one restroom so it can definitely feel a little cramped at times especially if you're in line for that. Overall I recommend you visit and Wed nights are some of the best! It's a bit of an older crowd for my age group, but again, always a blast.

The Westsider seems the kind of place that should have a "Beware of Pick Pockets and Loose Women" sign prominently displayed. So yeah, my kinda place! (I assure you, I'm neither type that the sign warns you about). On a Friday night, the last thing I want to do is be part of a *scene* when all I want to do is get my drink on. My pals and I stopped in a couple places that were either too crowded (we like seats!), too bright (we like dim!) or too loud (we like conversation!) I don't expect most bars to be able to accommodate this, so I was willing to settle for two out of three. Mike Kelley's fulfilled all three of my persnickety needs that night and on top of that? Fabulous, attentive bartendresses, cheap drinks and decent music. Add in the company of friends and you've got the perfect neighborhood watering hole. But beware of the spirits of thieves and whores, of course. (Kidding!!)

How many times have I passed this place and never stopped? Part of the reason might be that it used to be one of my favorite restaurants- Ki Ki's Bon Ton Bistro. Miss ya Ki Ki's.I am ready to stop grieving. I returned to my favorite space to see it almost identical to the restaurant of so many years ago. All that was missing was the painted wall alligators. There was a live band and no cover, which was cool. the bartender was a really sweet guy, maybe the owner? He was really attentive and we noticed that he was recycling all the empty bottles and cans as he served. Wow, how many bars do that? The crowd was so diverse it is hard put your finger on the type of crowd that is drawn to the Westsider. This is part of the charm. It is a place where everyone feels welcome. I'm glad I returned. Besides, they serve sweet potato fries just like Ki Ki's.

I heard great things about the place and finally visited and I was not disappointed. I scored some of the best cocaine I've had since Houston. The bartender even offered to suck me off in the bathroom for a couple lines--WORTH EVERY PENNY. I was fortunate enough to be invited to stay after close and that is when the real fun started: molly, coke and to the good fortune of the fellas that bartender was there with a couple of friends. BEST ESTABLISHMENT I'VE BEEN TO IN KC YET. IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF A BETTER TIME, HIT ME UP, I'LL BUY THE BLOW. Though, we may have to stop Mike Kelly's to get it.

This bar was by far the worst bar we went to, and we went to them all. It's okay if you don't mind the faint smell of bladder control pads and an old man who thinks he is 25 still. A waste of time unless you want to make your grandpa feel at home. Definitely not the place for us young girls, as the old men are creepy there. Big waste of time~!!

Have you ever wondered where people hang out once they reach 50? They obviously don't stop drinking, if I am to trust the advertisements on television. I have found the place, and that place is Mike Kelley's Westsider.Maybe it's the location. Maybe it's the music. Who knows. But this place definitely has an older clientele. An older clientele that l-o-v-e-s Celtic music. The love for this music is sort of scary for a first-timer. They sing along, they clap, they dance (badly). They are having a great time, and it is almost infectious. Almost. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to bother the regulars too much that you aren't having as great of a time as they are. Definitely a place you can go and have a drink without being bothered.Live music and no cover is a plus. The beer prices are not as cheap as you would think, but I think this is the premium you pay for getting to listen to music for free. Your mileage may vary on how much you enjoy the soothing sounds of Eddie Delahunt. St. Patrick's Day every Friday!

Kellys has a good vibe. Lots of good music merchandise on the wall and appears to be a psychedelic experience when live music is actually playing. Kind of dark, kind of hot temperature wise. Great Irish car bomb. Friendly customers and bar tender. Lots of potential. Recommend coming at night.
