It's facility has the nicest staff the cleanest parking lot the cleanest a building I've seen in a library they are patient and understanding very informative when they're helping. I had a few documents to print off before they shut the doors and it was a breeze to get them printed and having the time allowance on the computer!

I love the entire MCPL system! North Oak is the closest branch to my home and is a convenient location to visit for books, media, research, copies, faxes and more. I have attended fun events hosted here and my kids enjoy the teen programs. It saddens me to see one low review apparently based on one visit from 5 years ago take down this outstanding community gems overall rating! After all, this is a National award winning library! They don't just hand out medals at the White House to everyone. :)Besides, Mid Continent is constantly improving things to better serve their vast communities. Since the 2011 review, they now have a floating book collection which means materials circulate to where they are needed and wanted based on demands. The majority of employees are very eager to assist customers, in personal ways, and are freed up to do more than ever because of the, simple to use, self serve checkout stations! Popular juvenile character books are shelved by the first three letters of the character in order to make them easier to locate (example: BAT for Batman). Because so many authors are involved in writing these books (and they are often those skinny paper books) they would be like a needle in the haystack otherwise! If this were not enough, log into their online resources for so much eBook, emovie, digital downloads content you barely can believe it. There is also interlibrary loan if by some off chance the 30+ libraries in this mega system don't have what you need! Libraries are treasures and thank you for all you give us!

Great place! I remember coming here as a kid! Lots of cool stuff for kids (storytime, summer reading program, etc, etc.)Plenty of books here to choose from, theres an area with computers.. or you can bring your own! There are tables and chairs throughout the library to read or study.

I love the library. I adore books. The only problem is that I usually keep them way past due and/or lose them. Yes, I'm one of "those" people. The ladies are forgiving, not to mention super nice to the kids. You must have cash to pay any fines. (I'm always prepared)We just went to this location yesterday looking for a copy of Homer Price for my daughter's Homeschool curriculum. They had it! WhewMid Continent always has great kids programs like story time, crafts, and Mr. Stinky Feet concerts. Great for free or cheap, fun things to do. You get to be your kids hero for making their day so fun and you spent NO money...well maybe a fine or two...

I went here with my daughter to check out her weekly allotment of books, she specifically was looking for Barbie books. We couldn't find any so I asked the gentleman behind the counter for help, he pointed to a section and said they are under BA, so more searching and we still couldn't find any, I went to ask again and said to him, aren't your books categorized by the author, he says yes! I said, so barbie is the author? He was puzzled and said those books aren't categorized because of many different authors. After anther 5 minutes I finally found some, I would hate for him to have to get up and take us right to them. Most of the employees are willing to help, he must of just had an off day.

I used to go to this location a lot. It used to have incredibly nice staff who liked to engage in what you were borrowing and chit-chat about your afternoon. But as of late, new people are being brought in and are very rude. I have stumbled upon several staff members who spoke to me like I was an idiot when I asked a question; another gawked at me when I tried explaining something about an ILL item; and a couple other members of staff have blatantly ignored people at the computers asking for help.Luckily there are other branches to attend. I intend to move all my business to another, friendlier, location.

They have great books, but if you're a college student, don't try to study there. The noise level (from kids AND adults) makes it impossible! When I asked about this, I was told they don't enforce "quiet". Kids running all over & cellphones ringing out loud made it very undesirable for a serious student. This doesn't happen at the Liberty library, the one on N. Oak, or in NKC. Sadly, I live in Gladstone, but have to drive elsewhere!
