We went for tacos and tried 2. They were $1 on Tuesday. Got the Barbacoa and carnitas. The pork was good the beef was soft and over stewed.

Another stop on our taco tour, another order at the counter in a market type place. Good news: taco Tuesday = cheap tacos. And they sell beer! The tacos were just ok- they seemed like they were almost over cooked too tender with too much liquid. There are nearby places that are better- I'd recommend those instead

But wait... This wasn't the plan for lunch. Ah, but that's the good thing about KCK. Drive up any of the main streets where there are retail stores and restaurants and you're pretty much assured of a solid dining experience. Go ahead, just stop and walk in. If they're no good they won't be around long. Too much competition. So I was circling a better known eatery looking for a place to park and the first place open is in front of this Mexican grocery which I'd noticed before, but never looked closely at. What's this? A sign in the window advertising a Taqueria. Oh, and they have a butcher shop. Gears shift, plans change. Game on.Because: my rules of great Mexican food:Restaurant in a Mexican grocery store (check)Butcher shop (check)Bars on the window (missing here, -1)Orange, yellow, red, fuchsia or lime green interior (check)And two middle age women in the kitchen. I know this will be good.I walk by the first diner and my mind is made up. A massive, steaming bowl of hot soup with what must have been a pound of beef, some with the fat still on (a desirable attribute in my opinion), huge hunks of carrot, celery, cabbage, onion and a small ear of corn. In this near single digit weather, the savory broth teaming with some of the beef fat and the perfectly seasoned liquid made for a small bit of heaven. A nice side of rice and 6 small, heated tortillas accompanied. $7.99 plus tax for a meal that was satisfying, filling and didn't make you hate yourself an hour later like some places leave you. A ridiculously good meal for the price, and so satisfying.Saw several orders of tacos coming out and believe I shall return soon to try those, if for no other reason, they also serve up beer, unusual for a grocery store restaurant I think. Bonito Michoacan doesn't, nor does Carniceria El Torito 2. Street tacos beg beer, beer begs street tacos. Case closed.Oh, and they're doing their own chicharones near the butcher shop. Food porn. On checking out the lady at the front was delightful to chat with. I love this place.

Came here on a blustery February day for lunch. Mi Pueblito is another taqueria/grocery store combination - easy to miss, even easier to overlook given the bevy of wonderful options in this city, or even on this street. My notes were quick:Excellent tacos al pastor. It was slightly different, stewier. One of the unexpected luxuries of living in KC is just how many fantastic taco places there are. Mi Pueblito is definitely worth another look, especially if you want to try something new.

Great tacos and a great grocery store! The restaurant area is off to the side - I had a chorizo taco that was delicious. Many times chorizo gets greasy, but this taco was a perfect consistency. My other friends had tacos and were very happy with them as well. The grocery itself is clean and had a good selection of items, including orange Mirinda, which I hadn't seen since I was in Mexico. The produce looked great, and the small bakery case had delightful-looking pastries. It took guts to open this place so close to Bonito Michoacan, which is so well known and established. I think it's worthy competition, however!

I had the chile rellenos one Sunday and they were delicious. I need to go back and try some other things. Reasonable price too.

Do you like to eat things from mexico? This is your place!I usually hit Bonito Michoachan but they are renovating and I had to travel 2 blocks down the street to find Mi Pueblito. I was confused by the sign on the door that said use the other door (written in spanish) but after I looked like the confused white guy one of the girls opened the door and let me in and was very nice. Turns out it just meant use the other door, not the other doorway around the building. One I walked in I knew this place was awesome. They have hot temales in the checkout line and hot tortillas ready to grab and go. A plethora of produce including tomatos cilanto peppers and avocados. What I really came for is some dried chilis and they had a lot to choose from at reasonable prices. Dried guajillo and ancho chilis for around 3 bucks a bag (6-8 peppers). There is a butcher in the back with a lot of different meat selections and preseasoned favorites. There is also a small selection of bathroom items and kitchen utensils. Unfortunately I was there to pickup some lunch ingredients so I didn't eat at the attached restaurant. I will be back to check out those tacos! Its also very clean and friendly feeling. Some non-chain markets have a hard time providing a clean atmosphere and portraying a friendly shopping experience, but not this place!

The 1 star is strictly for the "restaurant" part of Mi Pueblito, I ordered what i thought would be safe: carne asada and carnitas tacos. Both meats were ridiculously greasy- like, 'take a bite and grab a napkin because grease is dropping out of the side of your mouth' greasy. The asada had a weird, almost grainy marinade taste to it and I ended up throwing away my 2 asada tacos, which wasn't a big deal... until I saw my carnivorous, taco loving Husband throw his asada tacos away too! That, my fellow Yelpers, was a sad sight to see. He agreed with the odd, grainy flavor in the meat and it was simply something he refused to stomach. Never, ever have I seen carne asada have bell peppers mixed in with it. Gross.
