We visited three music stores to find the right piano.Craig Smith, Piano Sales Rep, was personable, professional, and informative. He was very good about explaining the different options in both instruments (new vs. used, pianos vs. digital pianos) and payment options (installment plan, purchase cash discount, vs. renting, etc.) He patiently showed us several models, helped guide us (respected our budget!) and followed up with us in an appropriate manner. At no time did I feel pressured to decide or upgrade beyond our comfort level. We ended up emailing follow up questions, and had a nice back and forth communication. Craig even sent us a link comparing the models we were were debating about! Talk about wonderful customer service. We put a small deposit down on the Clavinova (http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalpianos/clavinova-concept/) to hold it for a week until we could purchase in full - I couldn't pass up the cash discount! Even the delivery team was excellent: arrived on time, were courteous and set up the piano perfectly. Highly recommend. It was a breeze to work with Meyer Music on all counts, and we have been enjoying our purchase since Spring Break. In fact, our young nieces (6 yrs old and 9 yrs old) couldn't keep their hands off it! They just loved the fun features of playing different orchestra instruments on it. We had a chuckle about that since they have a gorgeous Baby Grand at home, but they are in love with our Clavinova!

I rented a trumpet for my daughter's band class and at the end of the year when the instruments were turned in the technician that visits the school left the trumpet at the school we were charged for it all summer long when my wife contacted the store about returning our money NOPE because there staff can't be bothered to do there job I had to eat a trumpet for the summer these people don't care about customer satisfaction. If you are thinking about renting an instrument for your child through the school and it's Meyer Music BUYERS BEWARE because all they care about is F*** YOU pay up.

I went in to find some reeds for my grandson's sax. He wanted a specific brand and type that I didn't see on the rack with others. I went up to the desk to ask a clerk about them. There were two clerks chatting and working on an instrument. No other customers near their desk. No customer asking for help or checking out. I stood there in front of them at the counter, not 3 feet away, waiting for them to answer my question. After about three minutes of being ignored as they continued to chat, I left the store and went to a competitor where I made my purchase. I won't be going back there for lousy service.

We were driving over 45 minutes to get to this store to drop off an instrument purchased there that was in need of repair. It was the Saturday before New Year's Eve and we stopped on the way to get some lost puppies out of the road. We called just to make sure that someone would be there in case we did not make it by closing time (and to make sure they did not leave early), asking if someone could wait a few minutes in case traffic held us back. NOPE. Called back and talked to manager. NOPE. "Need to leave for church" was the reply. We arrived with 10 minutes to spare and the 5 employees that were there were doing NOTHING but standing around. The manager had already gone. To think that of 6 workers, not a single one of them could wait a few minutes to take care of a customer who had purchased an $800 instrument was astonishing. One was quick to offer the upgrade to a more expensive instrument.... WOW! Can't be bothered to save us an extra trip but sure can take our money. JERKS!

The staff is very friendly and helpful. The sheet music/books selection is nice; not huge, but nice. I was able to get started, at the least. They also were able to recommend great piano movers and piano tuners.

@ Sherry W. - Your being late does not give the staff a reason to stay late, especially during the holidays. You knew it was going to be a 45 min drive, leave earlier and be on time. Meyer Music is an outstanding member of the KC business community. They did fantastic work repairing a vintage Buffet clarinet for me a few years back. When I briefly took private music lessons with them, my instructor was great. Sherry W. needs a reality check. Please don't let her review discourage you from doing business with a Kansas City institution that has been doing great work in the metro for nearly 50 years.

My daughter has been a student at Meyer Music for 10 years. During that time she has had 3 different teachers and they have all been amazing. Each one met her needs through the different developmental stages of learning, making her experience meaningful and special. The people at the front desk greet her by name - which is so important now that she is going in by herself. She feels comfortable as soon as she walks in the door! The new location is fabulous! I can run to the grocery store or one of the nearby shops while she has her lesson...no more down time waiting! I also love the work they do sharing the gift music with under-privileged children. We are lucky to have Meyer Music in our community!
