Small yet satisfying. I really like this little farmers market. It's made up of about 20 stalls with a nice mix of produce, woodcraft, baked goods, and crafts. There's always plenty of parking and the people are really friendly.FPO and I come here for a few things. There's a vegan baker who does some pretty good scones. But, by far our favorite booth is Treasures of Tayside (named for the River Tay, the longest river in Scotland). She makes the most amazing shortbread cookies. I think she said it's a recipe most similar to what you'd find in Glasgow. Lol, we'll put it on the calendar to go there for her cookies. She sells them in little ziplock bags, 4 to a bag. I think it's like, $1.50 a bag. I'm not sure. I see her booth, my eyes glaze over and the next thing I know, there's half a dozen little bags in my hand and I'm headed back to my car. If I'm going there for fruits or vegetables, or something else in particular I have make sure I get those first or they get lost in the shortbread cookie haze.

I have lots of good food there for sale. I buy my squash and cucumbers there. They're pet friendly also.

There is nothing better than visiting the KC or OP Farmers Markets on a Saturday morning, but when you just aren't up for the crowds or the parking headaches; Merriam is the place to be. A great location just a few blocks off I-35; the pavilion has 36 stalls and is next to Werner Park with trails, picnic tables and Turkey Creek. With a Yelp check-in, I received a large free tote bag that I used to take away a few items. A great variety of vendors and live music from a female guitarist. Fat Beans Coffee Lab was on-site roasting beans for sale and provided me a great fresh Aeropress cup of Joe! Greenhouse growers from Wellsville and the Muncie neighborhood of KCK provided me fresh veggies and gourmet mushrooms from an OP vendor provided fresh ingredients for a great dinner this evening.Merriam has done a great job with providing a 1st class space and attracting a strong and diverse group of makers and growers. Eager to return this summer!

Maybe it was the refreshingly cool late July morning, but I couldn't help but feel like I was on vacation at this unique, under the radar market. First off, all their claims are true: Easy in & out parking, dog-friendly, local vendors, and a nice walking trail attached to it. Well, I should back up, not all claims are true as I checked in and saw a free tote bag as a check-in offer. With a puppy and my hands full, I was maybe a bit too excited to get this bag, only to have the friendly gal at the welcome desk tell me they don't have those except for the first 1-3 weeks of the year until they're gone. Bummer. It was not busy like say, City Market or OP, but there was a nice steady stream of people here. I chatted with a guy from Encore Coffee and bought a bag to take home, and am drinking it as I write this review. Very good stuff. I also got some homemade dog treats for Scout which he's obsessed with, naturally. There were a lot of good looking peaches, tomatoes, and other late summer veggies here. I wanted to get some but with the wife out of town on this particular weekend, I was in bachelor mode. I would rather have a pizza delivered and live off it for as long as I could then cook anything fun and fancy.Walked the back trail by the stream just until I couldn't hear the music from the market and it was a nice, shaded, surprising paved trail. Cool market and one I'll definitely pop back to soon!

This Farmers Market gets better each season. If you haven't been in awhile you need to check them out again. It's not packed like the OP market or City Market, but it's still got a lot of great options. There are lots of different vendors. Baked goods, produce, meat, jewelry, crafts, coffee, etc. Usually at least one food truck shows up too. Most vendors can take credit and debit cards, but having cash is always a plus. You can find out the activities and vendors for the day or which food trucks will be there on the Merriam Facebook page. Real bathroom facilities are on site and there's a lovely walking trail behind the market that follows along Turkey Creek.

This has to be one of the best markets in KC. A covered concrete patio surrounded by parking. There is a bike path to the back the leads into the area. It is really set up perfect for a farmers market and small events. Throughout the summer they host food truck Sundays. About ten various trucks show up, there is a band, and a lot of people come out. It is like a small town picnic. I'm not sure if the shelter is available for private events, but it would be perfect for a reunion, graduation party, reception, etc. Although surrounded by parking, the lot can quickly fill up and there isn't much adjacent parking. Visit the market. Stop for a food truck Sunday. You will love this venue.

It's one of my favorite farmers market venues in KC. Plentiful parking, good vendors, and a short stroll from a good Mexican breakfast and lunch spot. You can walk off all that food on the Turkey Creek Greenway, accessible from the parking lot!

I usually go here for the farmer's market. It's a great set up. I'm not sure why they feel the need to play loud music or have entertainment at the farmer's market, but I guess I can't really blame the venue for that.

Every Saturday during the season there's a small Farmers Market from about 7am-1pm. They have a great selection of fresh produce, jams and jellies, fresh bread, honey, and even some fun items for your pets as well as a way to get your tie-dye fix. The vendors are very friendly. Some weekends they have events and entertainment. Wednesday evenings have also been added. This is a much smaller market than the one in KCMO but Merriam is a smaller city. What we lack in volume here is more than made up for in the ease-of-use and parking department! Need to grab your veggies and go? THIS is the place for you! I triple-dog-dare you to get in and out of the other area markets with all of your veggies in 15 minutes flat. See you in Merriam!
