Merriam Community Center

I thoroughly love the Merriam Community Center. From the moment you walk in, the front desk staff is friendly and helpful. I love their upper level track and the basketball court. Typically in my experience neither is too busy and there is a good amount of space, which makes for a calming experience to me. Their workout area is not extremely large, but it still has a lot to offer with its array of free weights, workout machines, treadmills, etc. One thing I enjoy while utilizing the track is checking out all of the events they offer that you can see advertised on their screens. Their pool area seems pretty great as well, though I haven't used it myself.

This pool was a pleasant surprise. I honestly feel that it is Joco's best secret. The atmosphere was pleasant and family oriented. The facility was clean and aesthetically pleasing. My family and I loved that this pool has an indoor and outdoor option. We were able to experience both sides and spent over three hours enjoying ourselves. We will definitely return in the future and will most likely bring friends too.

The community center is great!! But I just went and tried getting a coke for $1.75 in the vending machine and now it's $3 for a damn coke... I can understand energy drinks but like a Dr Pepper. No one is gonna pay $3 for a regular bottle of Coke!

So far it's really nice in side. Haven't meet all the staff yet but probably will when the whole COVID thing is over. They are still doing a lot of construction outside and in. The pools are not open yet but one is done and the indoor is still being finished. What I read was due to supply chain issues. But lots of thing have been affected by COVID. Looking forward to getting the whole building up and running so I can bring my daughter swimming. And maybe let her run on the running track to wear her out a little. One of these days I will walk around the whole building. But so far everything is really nice and clean.

Beautiful facilities. Great equipment. My two star review is due to the treatment I've received by staff & my experiences there. When I asked for the TVs to have closed captioning on, I was ignored and told maybe next time. Kinda hard to watch a bunch of TVs if you don't know what they're saying. I've also been awkwardly asked to leave unused rooms because they were "reserved for a class", even when the class didn't start for another 30+ minutes. They could easily notify patrons of class times by printing a doc and putting it on the door. A friend of mine has reported being racially profiled there as well. Bummed to leave a less than great review because this place is so close to me and I was looking forward to it being my new gym.

My family and I love the community center! The pools and all other amenities are well kept. Convenient locations and there is covered parking. I have personally had no problems with the staff; they have all been friendly and welcoming any time I have been.

BEWARE of losing track of anything and having it turned into MCC lost and found. My iphone was turned into one of the employees. Within minutes it had been given to someone else with NO verification of ownership. All of this was admitted by the employees working while I was there. Unfortunately for us the manager insisted all procedures were followed and only had empty apologies for us. Really really bad.

Their indoor pool is FREEZING. My 4 year old couldn't tolerate anything except for the therapy pool, which was just barely comfortable. If you're going to be an indoor pool, turn up the temps by at least 2-3 degrees so people can enjoy it.

The property itself is nice enough, but I can't say the same for all the staff. I have been a member for almost five years. Today, we apparently ended up in a water class that wasn't included in our membership. Instead of stopping us at the front desk on the way out or just giving me a call for clarification, the manager waited by the edge of the pool for the class to end, stopped us as we were stepping out, dripping wet and loudly reprimanded us in front of the entire class. It was horrifying and so unnecessary. In the locker room after, everyone was saying how rude and unprofessional that was. So tacky and embarrassing.
