My mom has always loved McLain's and I now completely agree! Throughout the years I've tried their different pastries and cookies but this was my first time actually going into the market. We went on a Tuesday morning around 8am, timing it perfectly in between rushes so were served fairly fast. The staff had great recommendations and were helpful when I couldn't decide. I ended up with the "Girl Breakfast" and was pleasantly surprised with how much food it was. You get sausage, bacon (wonderfully crispy), a cup-cookie, small yogurt+granola, danish pastry, and avocado toast. All was yummy and would probably order again for the variety of it all. My grandma got the quiche and was just as happy! They gave her a free coffee because she forgot to order one, which was so nice for the business they are. She tried the Holiday Blend and raved about it being one of the best non-coffee shop coffee blends shes had. I got a chai latte, which was good! I would say the food prices surprised me, they were rather low for what you got but the drinks were very average cost (meaning around $5 per drink with no specialties).Overall, I understand why loads of people recommend any and all McLain's and will happily go back anytime I'm near one. This one may be a favorite due to the setup and vibes, I love the decor!

Super friendly staff. We were there on a holiday Saturday and it was packed. They still managed to make everything delicious and it came out super fast. You order when you first walk in. There is a bakery area, an area for food, and a coffee area. I got the girl breakfast which has a little bit of everything. It had avo toast, yogurt parfait, bacon, sausage, apple slice, pastry. My daughter and husband both got the chicken strips and friends which were amazing. There was a ton of searing and all kind of cute little nooks if you want to work from there. There were long communal tables or smaller tables for smaller parties. I also loved the Kansas City decor

This restaurant is such a vibey place to go to for a brunch, lunch, snack, or coffee. There are many options on the menu and in the bakery. I ordered the almond butter toast with berries on top, which wasn't anything special. But, the mac n cheese was delicious! There is lots of indoor and outdoor seating but the indoor can sometimes be crowded. The latte was also so good!!

Second time at the OP location and it held up to the high expectations set after my first visit! I ordered the veggie quiche and it was perfect! Super flavorful and full of veggies. I also had the pumpkin cold brew and it was pretty yummy as well. The pumpkin flavor was very subtle but overall good. My family enjoy their burritos and coffee too! The staff were all very helpful and friendly. There was a good amount of seating and they have a great indoor/outdoor patio spot in the back! Parking is limited but not too bad. Not pictured is a raspberry lemon muffin that I ordered for later and it was delicious!! So many breakfast and lunch options as well as many pastries. Be sure to get there early before they sell out of some sweets!

Nice country side spot for home made breakfast. Basic egg sandwich I could make at home but still was a fun friendly spot from country folks who wanted a local bite and coffee.Service was fast and friendly as they found us and cleaned up while we sat and they were so nice e doing it.It had country style decor and some outside. This place I can tell is very busy during rush hour so may take it to go.

My sister raves about this place, I finally had a chance to go and being a Sunday morning, it was packed. Their counter servers were helpful, the service was quick and friendly, and the food was delicious. I had a latte, egg sandwich and a pastry and all were great. The place has a nice vibe, great coffee, and a nice area to sit. Since then I've been to 2 more of their locations and found them to be consistent in all categories. I'll be here more, as i've found my perfect coffee place in the metro.

I really enjoy this Kansas establishment. I meet up with friends for lunch here and love the coffee and lunch items. The line at lunchtime is usually long and seating can be limited. Not the place to go if you want to sit right away (and you won't be "waited on"). I enjoy the ambience once I've placed my food order and found a table. I've also ordered bakery items for pickup and they are always delicious and well received.

I've been a McLain's customer since the 1960s. Same yummy bakery and items and now with a full breakfast/lunch menu. The decor is retro with style and the patronage is diverse, mostly locals. This is a very busy spot, and it's first come-first served with really good service. The 1960s prices are gone, but I still consider it a decent value for the money. Many of the original specialty items (like chocolate cup-cookies--yum!) remain. It doesn't get much more "Kansas City traditional" than this!

This is my family's place to come for special mornings and what morning couldn't be special if you start at McLain's Market? I very employee is a lovely kind soul. Quiche is the best with and Arugula Salad beside for a change of texture and acidity. Veggie quiche light, bacon and sausage quiche hearty but also too salty for my taste. No better sugar cookies exist in KC. Tarts, Muffins, fresh juices from local vendors, ready to go hard boiled eggs, Day Old Deals easy to find under the self serve coffee detail station. Oh and the coffee menu is vast and many kinds of always fresh tea, too! Eat! Get a cake! Snack .. here!

It is truly a shame that this place remains open. I'm from the area and have now tried it twice over the past year when visiting. The baked goods are never "fresh". The food is absolutely bland, it would be shocking to find spices in the kitchen. Just a tip for the future, it is unacceptable for your staff to bring out dishes with the paper ticket lying on top of the food. Even less acceptable is then putting her hands in my food to remove it.
