McKeever's Market

In a pinch I needed some things that you can't find a gas station and Mckeevers was just across the street from my hotel. I zipped over there and walked in not realizing it was a normal grocery store! I was relieved to see that they had everything I needed!It was laid out similarly to the same store in my town, and I was able to navigate myself easily. Self check out was a breeze, and I was in and out of the parking lot quick. It's located in a bustling plaza with fast food, gas, banks, and this grocer. Great location!

McKeever's Market is always well-lit, clean, and appropriately stocked, making it easy for customers to find exactly what they are looking for. I was impressed by how organized the shelves were and how items were grouped by similarity. If you need to replace an item, you will have plenty of options to choose from.

One of the BEST selection of gluten free items in a supermarket! Well done McKeevers in carrying such a great selection. Only challenge is they use to have it all in 1 area, now it's kind of spread out which makes it easy to miss some of these gems! McKeevers is always clean and quiet. Prices are on the higher side but quality is reflected and you can always find help in this store.

The good: It's clean, the produce is good, they have a decent selection & the checkers are nice. The bad: It's overpriced by quite a bit, the deli counter is awful, they do not like to slice the meat, act like you are putting them out, and don't know what is on special, the "eatery" doesn't even compare to HyVee, and it's difficult to find anyone behind the counters (bakery, deli, meat) to help you. Be prepared to wait.

No hand baskets. I mostly go to hyvee now since they got rid of the hand-baskets at Mckeever's Market. There are plenty of hand basket's at Hyvee on Phlumn and 87th just down the street (See picture). Every time I walk into McKeever's I get angry that there are no hand baskets for shopping. I usually only need one or two things. But I can't get three or four things because I am not going to run around the store looking like an idiot cupping a full pile of items in both hands. And I do not need a cart! Those slow me down! I can navigate the isle's better and quicker with a hand basket. This is a horrible customer-service mistake by McKeevers.

I went there to buy a birthday cake. I've had a hard time finding a good birthday cake from a grocery store since moving here. I finally found it! If you're from the SE, this is as close to Publix as you'll get out here. It might even be better but that is TBD... very similar though. I'm so happy I found it.

I've been disappointed in this store every time and thought I should give them one more chance. Nope. Not going back. I stood at the meat counter for at least five minutes--no help anywhere around.

I try to avoid McKeever's simply because the bakery there is so good! Every morning there are fresh scones, donuts and other delicious pastries. They often have items marked down or on sale at incredible prices. This is not the average grocery store bakery!

We were in the mood for strawberry shortcake. So we drove ALL THE WAY to Mckeevers to buy strawberries to make strawberry shortcake. All day long we looked forward to eating strawberry shortcake. After the chiefs beat the bengals by a Harrison butler game winning field goal, we went for a walk that included two very large hills and all we talked about was coming home and eating strawberry shortcake. When we got home to make our strawberry shortcake, we discovered that the strawberries that we bought from Mckeevers were moldy. Now we can't have strawberry shortcake. So disappointed.
