Martin Luther King, Jr. Park

Often times, a park is a park. But this park, dedicated to the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., stands for so much more. There is green space and walking trails, tennis courts and a playground, shelters and areas to explore. But there are also consistent reminders of the thoughts and legacy left to us all by the late Dr. King.The playground is a recently renovated space done in partnership with the '15 & the Mahomies' Foundation, the community-focused group backed by the Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes. Safe, new equipment with a soft surface makes for all kinds of playtime fun for the littles. Getting outside, with cooperative weather, has always been a wonderful way to spend family time and this playground offers exactly the kind of fun atmosphere in which to enjoy that time.The area is lined to the south with paved walking paths and sidewalks, plenty of space and very accessible. You are just a mile or so from the Plaza, the UMKC campus, and more. This is a green space tucked in a beautiful area with lots of historical and cultural significance. We should all be so fortunate to not only use the space but remember of the legacy of the man who inspired its name.

This is a great park! All of the different swing options are great for all ages & the big tall slide is always a hit. However, it's sad how much trash is all around.

Love this park, but want people to be aware of the Rainbow fashion mafia. I call her the Goblin Queen, and is know to wear rainbow fashion bootleg Russian gear. She claims to be with children, but cant claim one while scream at other adults to mind their own. The Goblin queen will pop out from behind a bench, fledgling tree, or off the kids cat walk... and follow you to the parking lot screaming about children that is no where to be seen.(TODAY SEEN IN NEON PINK RUSSIAN BOOTLAG TRACK SUIT, FOLLOWING FOLKS TO PARKING LOT SCREAMIMG ABOUT NOTHING WHILE RECORDING)

Amazing playground!!! Pristine grounds, and epic structures for big and small kids alike. My gangly, but young at heart, tween was very excited to find a place that didn't just cater to the littles. You gotta check this place out!

It's a beautiful park. Definitely something the city needs but there is barely any shade and when the sun is out and the heat is up it becomes really hard to enjoy.
