What can I say?!! I wish I caught the waitress name that we had! She had several big tables before us & made sure to take care of us all. I mean she kept the waters full, refill's on other drinks.. etc. She communicated well & had great composure for how busy it was. We went out to celebrate my brother graduating from the Fire Fighter Academy & I'm so glad we chose this spot. The food was fantastic. Everything was yummy , fresh & hot. Customer service again was AMAZING! She even brought out my brother some fried ice cream on the house to continue the celebration (not pictured) & it was DELISH! I'm not sure why the reviews are low .. but from my experience & my family's we loved every second of it!

On the advice of a good friend who is an intercontinental cuisine expert we gave this well established neighborhood favorite a try on a relatively busy Saturday afternoon. Our server Lisa was an absolutely wonderful person and proud ambassador for the establishment. She shared lots of inside tips and despite the fact that apparently one of their primary cooks was out of the country we found EVERYTHING we tried to be delicious and very authentic. It is no exaggerating to say I enjoyed the best carnitas of my life. Lisa even commented that to her expert eye the color and texture this day was of their best quality. We loved the thin crispy chips and the house salsa had a nice touch of cumin that had us almost drinking the stuff. Our generous portions left us with lots of take home extras and can't say enough positive things about our first visit. Thanks to everybody at the restaurant!

Not a single review could be written that would slow down business at Margarita's, and this post is one of them, but wait... there's more.I decided after years of tediously exploring the KC taco scene... at last count I think I'd been to 70 different places, some more than once, I decided to backtrack and educate myself on what's called the Kansas City Taco. If you don't know--I'm not a food historian, but I play one on TV--they appear to have originated in KC late 50s, early 60s. Mexican laborers worked along side Italians which created a storm of a fried, stuffed taco dusted with Parmesan because it was abundant and easily availble. That's the Cliff's Note version. You know how to Google, so get busy. Done right, it's a thing of beauty. So I came today because Margaritas was said to be one of a small handful of restaurants still cranking them out this way. I wanted to see and taste, and when I did, I went, "wait, I've had this around town before, just not in awhile." Like at Ponak's for sure, and maybe Manny's but it's been ages since I was there. Research must follow. But I digress. Back to Margarita's.I plunked down for lunch, the bartender asked if I need a menu and I said, "I'm here for Kansas City style tacos." A blank stare came across her face. "I have no idea what that is." Two servers stood nearby... I asked. Same response. "Don't know what that is." OK, but out they came, and that was what I was looking for. Note to Margarita's management: really... really??? So yea, whoever hires people here they give them no history on the subject. Sheesh. So like I saw Adam, a former Yelp community manager state, you might hate yourself if you eat a bunch of these. But what's wrong with that once in awhile? I had two beef and one chicken. The beef were sublime. The juicy meat, the crunch of the fried shell, the cool lettuce and tomato, the cheese... a banging bite of comfort food. But not a street taco, and I'm OK with that. The chicken was overly dry and uninspiring, suggesting the meat was in the form of some entree a day or two prior and got a bit dry. Just a hunch. No one would do that in a restaurant, right? But three stars, Yelp, really? Nah, the crowd that comes here, by dam, they don't come here expecting any of that 5-star crap! In fact, my taco card may be taken away for giving them 4. Gedddoutttahereyabum!Possibly my first visit here in 20 years. Can't say I wouldn't come back... those Kansas City style beef tacos are bad boys. With a beer or a margarita you could properly hate yourself for hours and want to repeat the following week I'd think. Now on to my next research project.

Not great, but far from terrible. I have been getting the chicken tacos for years. The chicken is shredded, it could use a little more flavor but they stay true to the same style for years. Always friendly service. They have great KC history with the walls showcasing the Royals & Chiefs. Also making note of how deep under water they were from the floods in the 90s. Solid choice for a family night out.

Stopped by here for lunch today. They've remodeled since my last visit, decades ago. There's a few new items on the menu, but nothing else had changed. I like the updated feel, the bar is bigger, nicer than it used to be. We sat at a table by the bar, bartender David helped us. He was friendly and efficient. I had my standard hard shell deep fried tacos and they did not disappoint. The flavor of their ground beef hits the mark every time. Larry had the carnitas, cooked just right and very flavorful.Do yourself a favor and order the bean dip, you can thank me later.

Brought a friend here for his birthday. I havnt been to this location since they remodeled... but since they closed down the Shawnee branch, this has been my favorite so far. The atmosphere is modern and artsy (just my style). The service was good. Food was flavorful.

This is one of my favorite mexican places but I can recognize it's not the best lol. I get the Macho nachos every time with half queso and half margarita dip and will probably never get anything else. Is the queso velveeta? yes. Who cares? It tastes good. My family has been recently getting a tostado taco combo and it's the perfect lunch size.

Margaritas is a lively and typical Tex-Mex kind of place on the Boulevard. I can't say it's amazing by any stretch, but it's fun enough and the food is fine. It had been decades since we've been here, but a nearby birthday party had us strolling in just before the wait got really long on a Saturday night. It's often loud and packed with a bar like atmosphere which isn't my favorite, but it also gave us all a little energy-pick-me-up.The chips are OK, the salsa is pretty good and actually has a little spice. I opted for something I rarely get, old-school hard shell tacos with shredded chicken. They were good and a touch greasy. It's that kind of place, a little greasy, overly cheesy, and good when you're eating it with a bit of remorse hours later. The kids went to town on their beans and burrito, so it was a hit overall in their book. We won't rush back or anything, but it's certainly a worth option on the Boulevard that is home to several other similar options. Just get here early on the weekends!

Food wasn't good. I'd hardly call it Mexican food. Service was pretty terrible too. I wouldn't go back.

Food wasn't good at all. I actually sent it back after two bites. The manager came to my table and told me that he's charging me full price because I ate half. I've never been so insulted in my whole life. I will never support this business or any of the other chains of this brand ever again.
