Horrible horrible horrible this place has no idea how to cook breakfast I understand is probably a wife and husband family restaurant but that doesn't clear the fact that you have to cook fold fresh and the day before and then microwave it . Also the biggest hint about a restaurant that isn't fresh is giving your customers packets of ketchup .Their big breakfast we couldn't even find on the plate it was so small I ordered an omelette and they gave me on it that was exactly 5 inches big for $7 dollars no potatoes nothing else added to that.I seen a lot of people coming in and the place was getting packed it's obvious that a lot of people in this town have nowhere else to go to have real good food come to Chicago and you'll see the biggest difference in your life when it comes to real breakfast.Sorry have to be so blunt but when you have a chef that's making food half assed way they're not supposed to be making food at all, It's best just to stay home and hire a real chef to cook your food but I guess people are so used to eating is kind of full people have no idea

Upon arriving at this location, I immediately took in the scene and surrounding aromatic atmosphere. An opening salvo of Delicious MAMAS Home-made Meatballs with Red Sauce followed by a Small Fresh Garlic Cheese Pizza that was cooked to perfection. Of course there was plenty of Ice Cold Draft Beer to accompany the food that was ordered! Overall my dining experience was pleasant and satisfying.

Nice little place on maple Street in downtown Eldon. We had a classic breakfast and enjoyed it! Very friendly owners working hard. Salads and sandwiches at the next table looked very good!

This little place downtown is a godsend for Eldon restaurants. Although they are only open for breakfast and lunch M-F w/ a special dinner the first Friday of the month, it is a wonderful alternative to the fast food choices. Chuck and Trish are as friendly as can be. The cream gravy made with sausage from a local butcher shop is better than my momma used to make. They will do extra to make sure you leave happy if you only ask. As a lover of the independently-owned establishment, this is one I can always feel good about choosing.

Delish! We were looking for a local breakfast spot and much to our joy found Maple Street Cafe. The owners are incredibly passionate about food and service - and it shows! The food is REALLY good, great variety with many local items and fresh veggies from their garden. The only disappointment is the distance from Eldon to KC makes it difficult for frequent returns! Chuck and Trish are wonderful hosts and, if you are really fortunate, you will meet their amazing son, Maxwell!

I love eating here--it's such a slice of Americana. I love the family that runs the place as well. I won't lie--you won't see fancy, trendy dishes on the menu, just good home cooking. Quite frankly, I don't love this place for the food (not that it isn't good) but I love that it reminds me of the town I grew up in. Like "Cheers", this is a place where the locals go where everybody knows their name. Neighbors often eat there and swap gossip or recipes with the owners. The décor is homey and you feel like you're eating in someone's house rather than a restaurant. Plus, I'd rather support a mom and pop establishment any day over a huge corporate owned restaurants like McDonald's or Pizza hut. Good coffee, good food, good company!

Homemade marble rye grilled cheese was delicious. Whenever I pass through Eldon this is where I want to eat.

Ordered the biscuits and gravy as well as some bacon on the side it was awful. The biscuits were tough and the gravy had no flavor whatsoever. The bacon just tasted like bacon flavored cardboard, the person I was with said there food was awful as well. One of the worst meals I've ever had and if you screw up sausage gravy I wouldn't even be cooking anymore.

It's wonderful to have a lovely café in downtown Eldon again. Maple Street Café is comfortable, friendly, bright and airy. The food is terrific, and it's a real treat to see what the specials will be each day because the owners use those dishes to try exciting and interesting new recipes. My favorite entree is the cornflake-crusted fish fillet sandwich brushed with honey. And, if you're an iced tea drinker, they've got the best in town. Prices are very reasonable and you'll leave super happy.
