Macaluso's Thriftway and Liquor

Nice locally owned grocery store with great meat selection, bakery and friendly staff!

I've been to this store numerous times while on the north side of town. It's adequate. Usually, I'm just buying packaged items or alcohol. The store seems shabby, dim and possibly dirty to me, so I'm suspicious of buying anything fresh here. I may well be wrong, but that's the vibe here. The staff is friendly though.

In town for class at Union Pacific. Good variety,good prices, & friendly staff. Can't understand why people give negative reviews...it's a local grocery store that offers what you need for sustainability. Just saying. No complaints here.

2 different times I went and brought some food that was expire, called to give awareness to management and the manager I talked to was very rude and nasty.

The best specials on meat in KC. I drive all the way up here from Downtown for them. It's always easy to find parking, there are always people on staff, if you need meat cut they've got somebody happy to help. I like the ability to buy larger packages of spices and not pay an arm and a leg. Favorite aspect is the old-fashioned small-town grocery store feel that is so rare nowadays in a world of mega-chains and big-box stores that have grocery sections. It's easy to find everything, the layout makes sense, and you really can be in and out in a matter of 5 minutes if need be.

Love this store! Local and small with your essentials. I buy my meat there. Great service! Maybe I have just been lucky being that I am a northlander.

We shop here usually once a month as we live over an hour away. They have the best meat around. The butcher will cut/package it just the way you want. It isn't huge, won't tire you out, parking lot has plenty of great spaces near the doors. They have a nice deli, good produce too. We enjoy shopping here. My husband used to work nearby and he and co-workers often ate at "Macaluso's" at lunch time. The staff is very nice. My husband works on large Diesel engines so at times, he looks dirty when he comes in if I have him stop in on a work night when he's in the city by himself. They are just as pleasant to him as they are to any other customers in the store.

Local grocery, deli. They seem to get the refuse of job applicants for the deli. The last guy couldn't make an order, as he was too busy BSing with customers. Now they have a girl who will acknowledge a customer is at her counter, but won't get off the phone to help them. This place has THE worse customer service of the monopoly that is Associated Wholesale Grocers! This is typical.
