Probably my favorite Mexican restaurant in town. Their pork burrito is second to none. Always great service!

This is the 5th Mexican restaurant I've been to in Kansas City and it's the first one i've actually liked. The margarita was delicious. The tostadas were great. The bean and rice were excellent. I thought the prices were very reasonable. The waitress was friendly. The atmosphere was very pleasant...until the football game came on and they cranked up the volume on the television, then it was time to go lol. But I'll definitely be back.

We come in often because we live in the neighborhood. This time as we were eating a person in need came in. My husband quietly offered an employee a little cash to get him some food- they said not to worry they always take care of him. THIS is the kind of place you should be spending your money.

Service was absolutely excellent. Food was really good. Atmosphere was typical. I did appreciate that the staff wasn't stressed about it being a very busy night. Margarita special on Tuesdays is a great deal. Cheese dip with pork will bring us back many many times. A few of us are rice fanatics. And we approve! Didnt get a picture of the dip because we destroyed it.

Average Tex Mex style restaurant, with standard fajitas, enchiladas, burritos, tacos, plate options. Food was okay, and pricing was fair for Tex Mex, although personally I would prefer the multitude of taco shops or Mexican restaurants we have in the area instead. They had plenty of seating with a few outdoor tables. Food came out relatively quick, and our waitress was super friendly and helpful. Salsas weren't that spicy. There were some vegetarian options available. It's an okay place to take a group, but I wouldn't return by myself.

Don't pass up on Los Tules! This spot is great for late night eats and hangouts if you're in the area. This place gets a bad for a whole slew of reasons. Some say it's not authentic enough or good enough or the service is slow--look, Los Tules is not a fancy place, you seat yourself, and it gets busy at times, but there will be a table available at 9:30pm and they'll serve you some hot, juicy, crispy carnitas in a matter of minutes. You'll even get a beautiful view of the Kaufmann Center on your way in. The service can be slow at times if the place is absolutely packed, but it usually isn't. Here are the gotchas: - The food is somewhere between more authentic than K-Macho's and less authentic than most of the places on Southwest Blvd- The entrees can get spendy between the price and the 12% sales tax rate. I don't know why it's 12% either, but that's what we're working with. The price and varying quality of the entrees is the primary reason why I went for 3 stars rather than 4. - I would recommend sticking to the a-la-carte menu and avoiding the rice and beans, which aren't as high quality as one would hope. Overall, Los Tules isn't my first pick for Mexican food, but it's a solid pick for late night bites with a few friends.

As it was my first visit to Kansas City, I was surprised to see so many Mexican restaurants and was also excited to see so many Mexican restaurants. I was there for a conference, so we stopped here on our lunch break. It was your typical, hole in the wall Mexican place with brightly colored tables and classic Mexican fair.I had the Sangria (which was delightfully strong) and the cheese enchiladas. My only complaint is that their red sauce had been stewed with meat, which as a vegetarian, I was not expecting. To be fair, it wasn't listed as a vegetarian item, but this was the first time I've ever had meat in my enchilada sauce. Other than that, the food was good but not spicy, and the tortilla chips plentiful. If you're at the convention center for an event, this is a solid lunch spot.

Happy hour House Margs until 8pm was a nice surprise when we walked in for dinner. Plenty of space for large parties so we didn't have to wait for a table. The house Marg was a little sweet for my taste and the salsa flavors felt more Italian than Mexican to me, but that's just one girl's opinion. We did have to ask for menus (odd) but the spinach dip and the green chili pork were both tasty.I'd come back for the cheese dip!

Los Tules USED to be our favorite (certainly my wife's) for Mexican food. We went there for our Birthdays, our anniversary and special occasions, but after our recent dining experience and our failed effort to try to communicate that dissatisfaction about that experience to management- we now go elsewhere. The gist of it is after ordering our lunch and having a drink, 15 min or so later, our food arrives, all looks good and we dive in . But seconds later I found mine to be a few degrees above the temperature of the room we were in. Mine had shrimp, well, it was actually dice up room temp shrimp, with far too many green peppers as a filler. So while my fellow diners seemed to be alright with their orders, I eventually I flagged the server and told him it's cold, "oh, I'm sorry". I encouraged my guests to continue with their lunch. The minutes go by, five, then ten, and a little after ten minutes they say "well that's nice, it's taking so long they must be re-making your food". Five minutes more and they finish up (now 15-20 minutes later) and my plate arrives- the same one he took, but now because they ran it through some kind of oven all the lettuce is wilted, kind of toasted really. I was hungry, and my guests were now done and waiting, so between the quality of the food and being this was for my wife's birthday, I finished up and we left. When this sort of occurrence happens, my approach, especially when entertaining, is to get through it and talk to management as soon as I have an opportunity as well as be in the mood to deal with it. To that end I have left word and have received NO response, which considering my experience, does not surprise. Having owned and sold many restaurants over many years, one of the things known to the best in the hospitality industry is that for every complaint actually made, there are TWENTY more that never said a word. I suggest you do what we did the last time we wanted Mexican, El Patron , great food and service, plus- it was hot when it came out.
