For a small town on a Monday holiday, there weren't a lot of lunch options available in Iola. This was no offense to Los Potrillos but they were our 3rd, if not, 4th choice once we realized all the other places were closed. That said, I think they were not prepared for the restaurant to be busy for lunch so they were understaffed. We got there after the lunch rush so they were in recovery mode. The issue with that is they were so busy cleaning tables that they disregarded 3 different families trying to pay their bill at the counter as well as us waiting to be seated. We didn't have to wait very long and we're not impatiently people. Once we were sat at a table, the were quick with service. Now, I typically shy away from fajitas because I think they are a little overpriced, but I was excited to see their's were on the lunch menu. They ended up being $3-4 cheaper which worked perfectly for me. I went with Chicken for my meat and it was seasoned pretty well. It's a nice portion as well. The waiter was quick and efficient during our time here. I'm glad they were open and we were able to check them out.

I judge all Mexican restaurants on simple items. Fajitas, beans and rice (come on! If you don't have great beans and rice forget about it!). And of course, tamales. Los Potrillos in Iola has perfect beans, rice, tamales and fajitas!! Chips were hot and fresh, cheese-dip was perfect and the Margarita was out of this world!! We will be back. Our only complaint was there was no music. I love good Mexican tunes when I'm eating in Mexican joints. I might have had 2 Margaritas if there had been music!! Can't wait to try speciality items on their menu next time! Great service too.

Went here for a bite to eat. Our waiter was Fernando. He was polite and had a sense of humor. Food was good. Would go back again.
