Located in De Soto, Kansas (about 30 minutes from midtown Kansas City), Lexington Lake Park offers a scenic setting with a picturesque lake and surrounding green spaces. The park provides various amenities, including walking trails, fishing spots, and picnic areas, making it a great place for outdoor activities and family or single outings. Not too far from Olathe and just past Kill Creek Park (so you can go there on your way back ) if you're heading west on K10.I found the restroom to be clean & stocked with TP, soap and a working hand dryer. I went on the indigo trail--moderate, as it does have craggy rocks and roots poking up through the ground. Not many steep inclines. The shade trees are nice--only a brief time in the sun during summer on this stretch. Definitely spending time with Nature--so many things to see and hear. The trail itself was clear--no fallen limbs or trees to block your way. I think it's a 3.7 mile loop, if my GPS and All Trails are right, but I might have added extra going off the path for a bit.I also took myself around the lake--definitely not so shady, and about 1.6 miles, paved. A nice place to visit. I'd go again and maybe explore the other trails.

I used to rave about this lake that I think they spent $127 million on to build, absolutely beautiful lake Crystal clear in the middle of nowhere. The walking path is awesome, literally flawless, wrapped perfectly around the lake and it's surrounding tree cover. The shelters are brand new and gorgeous, the playground is for I would say 8 plus kids, the boat ramp is awesome, and the fishing is pretty good. But lately the water is covered in a sort of vegetation growth that is literally prohibitive. You cannot get in the water, and if you do you are prohibited from going most places around the edge of the lake where all the fish are. I don't know if PETA took over and decided they were going to let the lake overgrowth itself to the point of inhibiting human traffic, but the last time I was out there I pulled up about 10 pounds of Weeds on my line, broke my pole, and then I was covered in these bugs. The wind also got so strong that it took me 20 minutes to get across the lake with a motor. You do have to use electric by the way on all Johnson county waters. It's really a beautiful lake, I would say probably the best lake in Johnson county second to kill Creek, but the growth of the vegetation is so impossible that this loses some Stars. I don't know if I ever want to go back after the last time I was there, and I would go there every week before. Bluegill there are so fun to catch, and the people seem nicer. Police are constantly standing watch at that lake, so play nice. But me and this bass fisherman ran into each other and we both couldn't get 10 ft without getting stuck. I hope they took care of it, because if they did, it's a great place to hang out for a whole day. And the trails surrounding the lake are wonderful. We've hiked for six seven hours at a time around that place. Keep an eye out for the hackberry needles though strewn about the floor of some forests.

Beautiful lake! There is a dock and boat ramp. They have a restroom facility and a large shelter with grills you can rent with a small playground right beside. There is a paved path that goes around the whole lake and since this is a joco park it is well maintained. The lake itself is really lovely with lots of lily pads with American lotus flowers.

Such a great park! Bring your bike, roller blades, scooter, fishing pole, picnic lunch, playground shoes, hiking boots, leashed doggies & enjoy yourself with your loved ones! Mile long paved trail around the lake PLUS multiple paths on dirt trails to explore nature. Plenty of parking and never overly crowded. Great spot for a sunrise or sunset lake stroll!
