I don't know how many times I've driven past this place, but it always looked busy, so one day I decided to stop.It was full at 2:30 in the afternoon. That's a good sign.I started with a couple of papusas - one cheese, one jalapeno. Then I followed up with three tacos - pollo, asada and chorizo. All were cooked and presented perfectly.A few weeks later, I returned for a follow up meal.I dove into the menu and chose the Mar y Tierra - Sea and Earth - large shrimps and beef meat served with rice, fries and salad.I thought the beef was really good. The shrimps and rice were okay. The fries and salad were a little disappointing - especially for being a main course.I think I'll stick with the tacos, tortas and papusas going forward.Service was a bit slow, but friendly and helpful.

These tacos were yummy! The shrimp had a grilled flavor to it. The green salsa was delicious and spicy. Our waitress was so sweet and helpful even without knowing much English. The walls were very bright green and yellow colored with some cute paintings on the walls.

*****Traveled to KC to visit family and picked this restaurant to try food we don't have where I live. The food was fresh and definitely homemade. I cannot praise them enough! The staff was so friendly and the owner is amazing!!!! You must try the Honduran tacos, pupusas, and the sampler platter appetizer. The atmosphere is laid back and casual. You MUST eat here at this mom and pop restaurant!

My newest favorite place to go in downtown KCK.First impressions are everything. This place is very inviting, from the bright decor to the multiple TVs, the extreme cleanliness, to the seating area with plenty of spacing. Everything screams quality. The staff is friendly, even the owner. They're quick to fill a glass or bring more chips and salsa. It's obvious that they appreciate your business. The owner is the Latin version of the wacky city councilman from Gardner, and that's a good thing. The food was excellent, we bought different things and sampled off each others plates. The chicken is out of this world awesome, as is the beef. The green sauce is like a bad girlfriend, as it burns but you just can't give it up. Cold milk solves that problem, you can thank me later. The nice part of this place is that you can get a platter, soda, tip and all for under 20.00. Quality people, quality food.

There isn't a single thing on this menu I haven't loved! I work around the corner from this restaurant. I can hear the music calling me in for awesome food and drinks everyday! It's like being transported to our favorite Central and South American destinations! So what to eat?!?! Tacos, pupusas, and guacamole are my regular go-to items for lunch. If it's cold outside I opt for the chicken soup which is always enough for two meals and it's incredibly delicious! Best thing in the fall and winter and with whole pieces of roasted chicken! Pastelitos are pretty good and remind me of the street foods in Puerto Rico. My new fave: Huarache!! Its like an open faced sandwich with a base of masa dough with smashed beans placed in the center before it is given an oblong shape, fried, topped with green or red salsa, onions, potato, cilantro and any manner of protein such as ground beef or chicken, then finished with avocado and cheese. Super yummy! They have great avocado salsa as well. This location was on my taco tour (9 stops over 4 hours of taco heaven) and absolutely one of the favorites of the day.

I have been to Las Palmas in the past a couple of times including a very memorable trip to introduce my sister to pupusas shortly before she passed. Today I visited to check my 47th stop off of the KCK Taco Trail.I ordered 2 pupusas - 1 asada and 1 jalapeño. Both were perfectly crispy and cheesy. Topped with the curtido and thin red sauce, they provided a filling mid day lunch. I also ordered a molida taco just because I very rarely see ground beef as an option. It was fine; but I should of just had a 3rd pupusa. With a great menu, great service from my waitress and follow up by management, longevity, and most importantly great food, they deserve a solid 5 stars. The fact that they are always busy is a testament to producing top notch Salvadorian / Latin American dishes.

I spent 13 years in dc where, in some neighborhoods, there's a "pupseria" on every corner. Pupusas are a Salvadoran dish kind of like a beautiful, pan fried cross between a taco, arepa, and quesadilla. Served with slaw and a tomatoey sauce, they are the GOAT. I've been missing pupusas since I moved back to KC, but found my spot today. Las Palmas was packed at about 2:30 on Saturday with Spanish speaking families- already a good sign. As busy as they were, I was able to place a to go order that was ready in 15 min. I got two bean and cheese pupusas (my fave) and one jalapeño and cheese. They were MASSIVE for the price (same price as dc, 40% bigger) and pretty perfect. Savory, melty, a tiny kick from the red sauce and the jalapeños in the slaw. This place is legit, and the vibe seemed like it would be very fun to dine in. I'll be back!

This is on the KCK Taco Trail list and I've been wanting to try it because I love Salvadorean / Central American food, but I was hesitant due to lack of info and photos that looked a little sketchy. We took a chance and ended up with a great meal. This restaurant is totally missing out due to a less than stellar internet presence. Well, they're missing out on Anglo diners, anyway, because they had plenty of dine-in and takeout business from Hispanic customers while we were there. Ignore the old photos online. The dining room is clean, with brightly painted walls, matching tables, photos on the wall, Spanish TV stations on and music playing overhead. Nice atmosphere and great service. Our server mostly spoke Spanish, but another server who spoke more English approached our table with the other server at first to offer some translations. The owner/manager was there as well and he checked on us a few times. So the service was very good.We spent a LONG time deciding what to order, but they were patient with us. The owner also pushed a couple tables together for us because all are 4-tops and we had 5 diners. When one diner didn't show up we stayed at the larger table and no one seemed put out by this. I was the only one of our group who has had a lot of Central American food before, so I was familiar with pupusas and knew a few things on the menu I wanted to try. I highly recommend the Appetizer Platter. In fact, I would probably make this a meal for 1 or 2 on a return trip. Platillo Tipico: 2 pastelitos - these are like empanadas. Choose filling of ground beef, chicken, or potato. 1 pupusa (choose from any of their dozen pupusa fillings) - pupusas are from El Salvador/Honduras and are grilled cornmeal pockets filled with cheese and meat or veg. You top this with cabbage - sort of a spicy, slightly fermented cole slaw and a thin red hot sauce. 1 rellenito de plantano. This relleno-shaped dessert is sweet mashed plaintain stuffed with either a bean or cream filling. I didn't know it was dessert when I chose the filling, but I'm glad I picked cream. It was a thickened, slightly sweet cream - almost gelatenous. Topped with granulated sugar, sort of like a banana donut. Very good. 1 tamal - this was a sweet corn tamal, not filled with anything, but also tasty and dessert-like. Yuca are like thick fries. Tajadas de banana are like tostones or plantain chips, but less fried. They were crispy on the outside, but still soft on the inside. These and the yuca fries were both great dipped into sour cream or the spicy green salsa. My niece enjoyed her breakfast plate, but didn't love the sweet plantains. My nephew enjoyed his burrito. This was a bit of an accidental order due to the language barrier. He was trying to decide between ordering carne asada or a burrito. He asked the server what was in the burrito and she said chicken or beef. He was trying to ask if it had rice, beans, etc. Then he ordered the carne asada, but she thought he ordered the asada burrito. Usually he orders burritos sans any veg - no lettuce or tomato. He actually loved the burrito WITH the veg, which surprised us all. We saw a plate of Bistec Centro Americano going out to the owner and it looked good, so my dad ordered that and it was delicious. Thin steak with peppers in a slightly sweet and savory tomato sauce with rice. I ordered the Carne Guisada - beef stew. Similar to the Bistec Centro Americano, but the sauce on mine was saltier and came with potato, carrot and green beans instead of onions and peppers. Both were liked by everyone at the table. We didn't care for the tortillas, though. These are thicker tortillas - like a pupusa without any filling. Too thick to wrap up some stew. The menu is huge and there's a lot more I want to try (especially the soups served daily!), so I'll definitely be back or order takeout from here. One of the best meals from #KCKTacoTrail so far. Also, the check was delivered quickly and they checked on us a couple more times after we paid because we were still sitting at the table. Great service!

Me Gusta!!Pupusas are very good. They're very nice and have a good variety of Honduran, Guatemalan and Mexican food, they also have sea food and breakfast, wish they had better salsa tho.
