Nice place. Good decor. Decent food, normally the street tacos are in corn tortillas, but these are in flour. So they are bigger, which is a plus. However, I do love the traditional corn tortillas for street tacos!! They also didn't have el pastor tacos. So I got carne Asada instead. Good price though. The rice is amazing. Tasted great otherwise and the staff was super super friendly!

The food was impeccable every time -- we've ordered twice in two weeks. The service is always prompt and spot-on. The ambiance is made by the beautifully tucked property, nestled between the local movie theatre and the historic downtownLexington. Always wonderful. Love it here

The smoking inside is horrible. I left before they took my order.I am bit sure why smoking is permitted at all. There are many other choices.I missed getting a margarita.

Have eaten here twice now while traveling through the area, once for lunch and once for dinner. Both times the service was excellent and the food served hot and not over cooked. I am a fan of shrimp and to often it comes tough due to over cooking. Their sauces are always fresh tasting and the restaurant was always clean. Can't wait to come back and try other items and for the service.

Try La Favorita for a little lighter option. Great food and service and good drink specials. It's also the only non-chain place open all day it seems. Great place to eat.

Lexington is a small town, so the answer to the age old question, "Where do you want to go for dinner?" is normally fairly easy to answer. Las Carretas is the only Mexican place in town and the food here is pretty yummy. It has standard "Mexican restaurant" fare, but a few stand out (to me). The "Top 5" dishes that I think are really good here are:1. Gordo Special- Grilled shrimp served with avocado, sour cream, chili peppers, shredded lettuce and Spanish style rice2. Shrimp Nachos- Grilled shrimp served with roasted peppers and onions, smothered with queso cheese. Served over tortilla chips3. Chili Relleno- Served with rice or beans, Mexican salad4. Shrimp Enchilada Verdes- 2 enchilada's covered in a green chili sauce, served with a side salad4. Any of their fajitas

Excellent Mexican food in a small town east of Kansas City, Mo. You're normally seated right away with chips and salsa provided to snack on before your food arrives. Service is very good in both taking your order and getting your order served. Food- excellent! I'm kind of a fussy eater and always order the same thing, a quesadilla with chopped up beef and melted cheese (forgot what its called), but they have plenty to choose from. The restaurant had a fire there a number of years ago but rebuilt and I think it's better than it was prior to the fire. Great place for a party, a reunion or just to enjoy good food in a great atmosphere. If you pass through Lexington, Mo. and are hungry, stop by. It's worth the trip.

This restaurant doesn't deserve the hate that it gets on Yelp. That being said, my experience was pretty decent. I went in on a Thursday for lunch. Everything was great, affordable prices, but when I got the check, they had added an upcharge for white sauce that the server didn't mention when he asked me what kind of sauce I wanted :/ It was like an $8 dish and had a $2 upcharge. It was a scummy move, but I enjoyed my lunch. I'd probably go back.
