Whenever I am somewhere and happen to be near a small chain coffee shop, I will make an attempt to visit. While in lovely downtown Columbia, my husband and I had already visited a cool coffee shop, but nèded to leave and have lunch. As we turned the corner, we noticed this much cooler than the last Lakota location visited. We remembered they had sandwiches at the last location, and I was now in the mood for a pumpkin latte. We both had decent club sandwiches that came with chips. My pumpkin latte was okay, not too sweet but good. The place was busy, and to be expected for a college town. The staff here was prompt and friendly.

So I've been here twice! The first time I got a salted caramel latte, salted toffee latte? Something like that. It was good quality coffee but I wasn't super impressed. I decided to give it another try because I liked the vibe and the menu. I really like blended drinks so I tried the coffee milkshake next! I'm obsessed!! It's a perfect creamy consistency, almost like a coffee gelato. It was really decadent but not overly sweet or syrupy. I will definitely be back for more! I think this might be the best blended coffee drink I've ever had lol

Lakota has always been an amazing local coffee spot. What may not always be known is their breakfast bagel sandwiches are amazing. I always go for everything bagel with bacon egg, and cheese. Can't go wrong with that. Unless, you're a vegan.

Coffee and a bagel this morning at Lakota. Great to find a parking space early and then spend three or so hours this morning using this space as my first "office" of the day. Good for working, good for meetups, great for coffee.Friendly service from a nice young lady at the counter who took my order. Despite the queue, it moved quickly.Lots of comfortable seating though more of them with power outlets would be better. I will definitely return to Lakota![Review 19738 overall - 215 in Missouri - 710 of 2023.]

Cute coffee shop in downtown Columbia. I can't report much other than my cappuccino was fine. It wasn't clear to me where to place my order and it felt a bit awkward.

This place has not changed since I was in college in the early 2000's. Which is wonderful. The coffee is great strong, flavorful, and multiple blends to pick from. The environment is welcoming and warm on a cold day. The service was kind and knowledgeable. No reason to change when it is working so well.

I had an absolutely awful experience here. The staff was incredibly rude and condescending. I made an honest mistake by grabbing the wrong bagel because the name wasn't visible and nor was it yelled out. There was also no one in front of me at the counter so I thought it was mine. I didn't even open the bagel up I gave it right to the man. and instead of handling it professionally, they yelled at me and talked badly about me right in front of my face. The food is overpriced, and the way I was treated was completely unacceptable. I will never be coming back, and I advise others to avoid this place as well. If you're having a good day this place will ruin it. And watch out for the girl with the bangs you never know what will come out of her mouth.

Can I give a place a negative review. So rude. Girl with bangs behind the counter has terrible attitude and awful customer service. Don't ever go there if you're having a good day because they will change that for the worst.

I've only had Lakota at the University Hospital. The coffee has a nice rich flavor. I usually have a sugar-free caffe mocha (I use Splenda for sweetening. Love it.

Lakota has long been my favorite coffee shop in town for years. However, today I had such a negative experienced due to a cashier I have to rethink coming back anytime soon. Any barista should know that they are here to make money for the owners and this includes treating patrons with respect and I would think especially your long time customers. This includes your tone and attitude when dealing with customers and not only what one says. Try answering customer questions instead of flippantly saying, "What we have is on the menu!" Also, this is 2024, it can also be difficult to understand what someone is saying when they are masked up. The customer can't hear what you are saying or read your lips. Some coffee shops employees think it's a cool barista move to give attitude to customers but I assure you it is not unless you want your customers to treat you in kind.
