Lovely day to get out and about. Not too crowded for a late Sunday afternoon.Even for Wintertime, it's scenic enough to walk the area for some pretty views. The paved trail is clearly marked with signs to help one find bathrooms, marina, disc golf, etc. They have spaces for kids and families at the Beaver Shelt, as well as a music park section near the Eagle Landing Building. There are at least two car charging stations at the marina. There may be more around the park itself, but I did not happen to come across any.

Drove 45 minutes from the Northland to enjoy the self-service kayak rentals at Lake Olathe. It did not disappoint! Downloading the Rent Fun app and renting the kayaks were super easy. $15/hr and comes with the kayak, paddle and life jacket. Only 2 of the 4 kayaks were available for rental, not sure why. The entry point to get into the kayak and cast off was amazing!! Super easy to get going, even by yourself. The lake has great wildlife to see and we paddled to the waterfall, which made a great 45min roundtrip. Highly recommend this lake and rentals. I wish more parks offered this amenity.

Such a nice lake just right down the street from me. Lake of Olathe has so many things you can do like rent kayaks, splash pad for the kids, swimming area at the lake, two play area with slides, trails, fishing, frisbee throw games (don't know what it's called), waterfalls you can play in, streams you can play in, bbq areas, building for renting out weddings, etc., and so many more. It is clean, up-kept, and I always feel safe when I go alone. It would be a nice place to start having concerts, activities like Halloween hunts and things of that nature hosted here.

You know, I used to not like this place. It just seemed a little rundown, though it was massive and great for fishing. I had a friend catch a 60 lb catfish off the dam. But, someone somewhere decided this place needed 40 million and upgrades, and they followed through! I honestly don't know how much they spent, but it seemed like 40 million dollars. The improvements are legendary! There's a full water park playground built onto the water that you have to pay a fee for which I have never done but it seemed like a blast and it's always packed. The shelters are unbelievable, massive with rope courses and cook chambers and the lot. Then there's this massive Hill that they decided to build an entire art installation within that's interactive with waterfalls and a flower tunnel... Who are these people? I feel like my Aunt Stacey took over the budget for Olathe and wanted to make her deaign dreams come true at the lake. It's well done, I must say. I go there in the mornings and fish and off the northern shore I have a good time. It's very deep there, very Rocky. There's a playground here and there, the best of which is next to that shelter north of the lake. The least of which is next to the boat ramp, like they ship that one in from Middle Earth. They spent all the money on the grass and didn't fix the old playground. But, lake Olathe is really nice and a good place to spend your day if it's not too windy because if it's windy you're going to blow away like a leaf. Happy huntin'!

I think I fell in love with this huge park. Wished I could've had the kids swim at the Marina Beach park but the splash pad and the streaming falls are a great side. We took some beautiful pictures. People come here to walk their dogs, picnic, hike, boating, fishing and enjoy the amenities of the park. The Marina Beach has a nice sunset spot. They have a building called Eagles Landing that people can rent out. The kids enjoyed swimming in the stream. There is a small area near the splash pad that has sand for the kids to play in. The waterfalls are not a place for those to climb at due to the algae but taking pictures by the falls or sitting on the rocks to have your kodak moment is well worth it.I love that their are restrooms and that they are super clean. The park is monitored well. It wasn't so busy. The Olafe lake is a place to visit and great family fun!

This seems to be an unknown place to most people. Great lake for paddle boarding and kayaking. One side is "primitive " with a small boat ramp. The other has had a lot of money spent on it! Inflatable water park on the lake, (not sure what the admission fee is). An amphitheater, some sortve fancy big clubhouse bldg that I'm assuming can be rented, plenty of paved parking, walking paths etc. Lots of fishing happening. Just come see for yourself.

Officially one of my favorite spots for family portraits and senior pictures. I have been here a handful of times, and always like the park, but nothing stood out as an ideal photo moment. After some exploring, all that has changed. Great open trails and water that make for good family portraits, but there is a hidden gem in the park that is IDEAL golden hour picture time. Maybe the best in Kansas City, just because of this one spot. And to think, I was going to leave this off my list. 4 Stars because it's all about one spot, at one time of day. I am available for photography at this location. If you would like to schedule a session with me you can email me at [email protected] can also visit me on instagram at shirk_media

It's a beautiful lake and I'm sure people enjoy it very much. If and when it's opened. I've been going there for morning walks all summer and half the time they don't open on time. People are waiting to get in and there's no staff. Other times there's tons of staff and they're open. It's hit or miss.
