Good, inexpensive Mexican food. I got the vegetarian fajitas. They were good, a lot of veggies for the fajitas. Margarita was good too. I'd come back.My only complaint is they use styrofoam to-go boxes - not the least bit environmentally friendly.

Visiting from Texas so we are aficionados of Mexican and Tex-Mex food. Thought we would hit this place up for lunch as they had outdoor seating and look like the kind of place that could use our business during these difficult times. We just wanted a couple of tacos each - my wife settled for Chicken and I went for beef. Both with rice and beans. We hardly touched the rice nor the beans (honestly I have never seen beans this color at a Mexican place). The tacos were blan. But we were starving, having only had oatmeal fro breakfast.Fast forward 10 hours...my wife was ok - though she did not want dinner. Honestly I was not right - by midnight I was sick as a dog - I have had food poisoning a couple of times before - and this was definitely food poisoning. I am two days down the road now and still trying to get better. Bottom line - do not eat here. Sorry to say this - especially during these times where small businesses need our support. But honestly - to make me this sick...something is terribly wrong with this place. Call in Gordon Ramsey and run.

I really hate to post bad reviews, and would give this a 1.5 star if I could. Maybe our expectations were too high based on other reviews. Authentic Mexican food this is not. Our meal was not anyway. The tamales did not look appetizing at all. My husband loves a good tamale and barely touched his plate. The tacos were average and the queso and nachos had more of a glue than cheese taste. Service was friendly and attentive but food was not good. Margaritas didn't suck but we always request premium tequilas with our Margarita's, hard to make them wrong. There are signs up requesting that out of respect of other customers, people stay a minimal amount of time. As requested, we didn't stick around and wouldn't recommend the cuisine.

La Siesta is a great environment. Ben is awesome and so are the margaritas. I recommend the papaya margarita frozen. I have also tried the steak fajitas and enjoyed them too.

Well we went as a family, queso was watery, rice was hard they had to get us a new plate of soft rice. No one here and dinner explains that. Some Lady in the Kitchen keep Bitchin someone out in Mexican. Save your $ and pick another place.

La Siesta has an amazing location downtown next to everything. Always come here before or after going out. They are always open super late and there's always a crowd. You can usually get a table in less than 10 minutes though. The service is good and the portions are huge. The salsa is really good here. Margaritas are strong and my favorite thing to get is the chicken chimichanga. Overall love the location, late night hours, and food.

I'm now being harassed by an acquaintance, family friend or someone in relation to the ownership of La Siesta to change my review to omit the owner. Rather than editing my post that's almost a year old, I'm making an update to the post. I hope the management team has given their staff diversity equality training to serve the people of Columbia including Mizzou students, staff and alumni.

I ate here for dinner about 3 weeks ago. I ordered pick up so I wont speak on the venue or service since it was pretty "in and out" more or less. The food however was pretty darn good! I got the double order of steak and chicken fajitas. You get a tray of re-fried beans, spicy rice, sour cream and guacamole salad (2 in the double order) You get 2 bags of in house cooked tortilla chips, you get 2 rolls of 4 corn or flour tortillas (i got corn). You then get the main dish. 2 trays of chicken and steak cut into small strips with a good coating of Mexican spices and a light picante' sauce of some kind, nice kick to it. This also has a nice dose of peppers, onions mixed in with the meat mind you. Their salsa is traditional to which rocks! Leaves you close to a glass of water, put it that way.I made 2 more lunches with this in the days after what I had for dinner that night. $23 for the double order. Not a bad deal in my opinion. A legit Mexican restaurant in my opinion and I grade pretty hard on ethnic cuisine to so it takes some authenticity to get me to approve of what your serving me.

The waiter Alex charged me for more than I ordered, and then continued to call me stupid as I corrected him. I felt this as very disrespectful and unprofessional, and was personally offended by his actions and words. He told us he remembered our faces and never wanted to serve us again; also offensive and flat out rude. The service was occasional and never came and refilled our water or checked on how we were doing. This is a fun college atmosphere don't get me wrong, but very unprofessional and again, flat out rude.
