This review is about the restaurant's food truck/stand that sits right across their storefront (in the same parking lot as KFC). Open until 3 AM in the summer? Open at 12 AM on a weekday? This availability alone is a godsend for anyone who is a night owl in Kansas City! Serving solid food all around, my go-tos are the cubana, al pastor quesadilla, and tacos (so far)! They do not skimp out on the toppings! Also know that the spice levels might be varied depending on the day, particularly the green sauce provided. A game-changing food truck option for late night bites--definitely worth a trip for their epic cubana torta. Not to mention that during warm weather they offer a pineapple mango agua fresca which is the ULTIMATE cherry on top with a meal!

I'm only in KC for the summer, but people keep telling me to not eat any seafood here! I saw this food truck and I wanted to take a chance so I ordered a fish taco. I was worried about it at first because all of the other fish items I have ordered at other restaurants have been disgusting, but this fish taco was INCREDIBLE. It was well sauced and the fish was SO good. All of the ingredients blended together beautifully in my mouth, and the best part is: corn tortilla!!The people who were running the food truck when I went were also really really nice. I ordered some mango fresca (really good by the way, not overly sweet!) and they took a dollar off because they knew they did not have enough for a whole cup. All of their prices were also really affordable - my taco was only 2 dollars!

What a discovery this was!!! The lady who took my order was super, super sweet, which set the tone for a great experience. I ordered a fish taco, an asada taco, and a bottle of water all for $6 - WOW. The corn tortillas were fresh and flavorful, and the fish taco had just enough sauce/crema to complement the fish, not completely overwhelm it. The asada taco was just as tasty. When I'm back in KC, I will definitely be getting some mire tacos!

La Hamburguesa Loca - translation: the crazy burger. They got that right.1 - There are good hamburgers.2 - There are great hamburgers.3 - There are stupidly great hamburgers. So what's #3 doing at a Mexican joint on slightly creepy and run down Independence Avenue a mile or so East of downtown KCMO? I have NO idea, but what a lunch experience THAT turned out to be. Power and Light District take note: this is how a hamburger should be put together. You're all pretenders. And the fries, great googlymoogly, done perfectly with a little crunch, just the right amount of seasoning. Dare I say, approaching Oklahoma Joe's quality, but not quite there. That's high praise. They say it's 8 ounces of hamburger, bacon, ham, avocado and it had some kind of sauce and lettuce and was slathered inside a ginormous poppy seed bun (see photo). Crazy. And 5 stars all the way, no, 6.Before you go: this is not particularly an area of town where you're going to feel comfortable. If you don't want to park at LC's BBQ you won't like it here either. Move that Lexus on along brother. An Applebee's awaits you somewhere. Doesn't bother me so much but I know many of you it will. The place is literally a hole in the wall with tables and chairs, faux brick wallpaper, bars on the windows, devoid of decoration, nothing fancy, mom/pop kind of place. The TV is set on a Hispanic channel and it might (did for us) distract the server. Next door is a combination Halal and African grocer. You're not in Johnson County. But it's clean, and that's it. Not particularly cheap. Two burgers, two fries, one soft drink, $25 before tip. But worth it. Best burger I've had in a long time and Westside Local in KC and Burger Stand and Dempsey's in Lawrence would be wise to see what the man in the back can do with meat and bread. Extremely filling, but not in a sickening way that some places send you. They take credit cards, no alcohol. Street parking is limited. Not a date destination unless your love interest is your gullet. Must return to see what that cat in the back can do with his native food.P.S. special shout out to Yelp pal Marcellus S. whose review nudged me into making the trip here.

So I'm wondering if Spanish speakers use ADM (¡Ay, Dios Mío!) for OMG...it certainly applies when you bite into the sandwich this little place is named for.Yes, I finally made it to the brick-and-mortar home of the previously mentioned food truck, and I was not disappointed. The Crazy Burger is Crazy Good, and the smell of it was driving me Loca as I drove it home. This thing is a monster! The burger just about fills the oversized bun, and I'm not sure I ever figured out how many other things were under there. Bacon, ham, avocado, lettuce, and tomato for sure, and mayo or some other yummy sauce. The quality of the beef they use is first rate. And when they offer you "sauce" on the side, take 'em up on it! It's a little cup of the best salsa I've ever had-I don't know what the seasoning is that sets it apart, but I wish I'd asked for a gallon of it.I didn't ask for fries, but I got some. Not a huge amount (you don't need a lot); they're frozen, I'm sure, but very well done. Forget ketchup, dip 'em in that salsa. Also on the menu are "Crazy Fries"...I don't even want to think about how ridiculously good those are.The locale and simplicity of the interior have been well documented by other Yelpers; rather than being turned off, I love these places! It's clean, the people are nice, and if it took a bit to get my food, it's because it was completely hot and fresh. The challenge now will be to branch out and order something besides the burger or pambazo. But I think I'm up to it!

We've been back twice and I finally tried the hamburguesa loca. Very nice burger, with lots of fresh, tasty ingredients, including a thin slice of ham. I was skeptical, but it worked, added a lot of flavor. Sometimes, through no fault of their own, good restaurants don't make it on the Avenue, but this one deserves to. Come on over and give it a try.

Their namesake, La Hamburguesa Loca, is delicious. PERIOD. I enjoyed watching the cook prepare the burger and fries. The burger is well seasoned and juicy and comes with the normal stuff (letttuce, tomato, etc) plus avocado, ham, and bacon. Before the fries are dropped into the oil, they fry a whole jalapeno which is thrown onto your plate, but more importantly gives a delicious taste (not spicy) to the fries. There are plenty of other things on this menu that I am looking forward to trying... especially the whole chickens. This is one of those places that doesn't seem to ever have a ton of business, and you are happy because they can focus on you, but you REALLY want others to try it out. I'm not sure if they accept cards or not... leaning toward NO but I could be wrong.

This review is for their food truck. Sometimes I see this truck at lunchtime at 13th and Oak and when they are there, I need to get an order of flautas. They are a good deal for around $9 and it includes sides of rice and beans. I have also tried their cubano torta which is a huge breaded pork cutlet sandwich which I couldn't even come close to finishing in one sitting. Problem with ordering the cubano torta is it takes a long time to prepare. I believe quite a few people got their orders before I got to my cubano. But I tell ya it was worth waiting for if you have lots of time on your lunchbreak which most people don't. Anyway, they have a good size menu which is basically the food pictures posted on their truck. The one thing they don't readily post is the prices for their items so you have to ask when you order. So other than that, I don't have a problem their quality, service or price, at least when I order flautas.
