My nomination for the best burrito in Kansas City is this little neighborhood groceria. When I first started coming here, the owner had a large gas grill set up in the parking lot under a tent and cooked pork al pastor,, steak and chicken for tacos, year-round. Simply made, straight style you could get onion, cilantro or both on the taco. All year round, if you were driving down Blue Ridge you could smell the food cooking for half mile or more away, depending on the wind. It was hard to drive by and not decide to stop. he has since moved the operation inside, and added burritos and tortas, including a 3-meat Torta Cubana. Everything is cooked fresh on the grill, and the flavors are amazing. There's no inside seating, although they do have a lunch counter with some stools outside if the weather is right. Drive by here at lunchtime your app the parking lot filled with cars with people eating in their cars. Totally worth it! My favorite is the burrito al pastor It's mostly meat and vegetables, not stuffed full of rice. If you like your food with a little spice, I highly recommend the habanero sauce. If you're eating in your car, take a tile for your lap, they can be a little messy.

It's a 7-11 type store with extensive bakery & big savory sandwiches cooked to order. Food seems the real deal and are street type selections. The place is standing room only at lunch with many Mexican Americans in line. Many of the store's grocery items are from Mexico.

A guilty little pleasure of mine. I love the Cuban sandwich! I'm excited to try the new items on the menu. This would be a 5 star rating if not for how long I have to wait... but I guess that proves how popular this place is. I saw police officers here once... getting food. They told me this place is Grandview's little secret.

Let me begin by saying that we spent years in California and have something really specific in mind when we get burritos. This wasn't it. (no rice, no beans, no sour cream). This is what we would call carne asada wraps. Super tasty! But with just steak, lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro and avocado... That's a wrap to us.We asked for both the medium and the hot salsas. Medium was very hot to us and hot was blistering. Next time we will try mild. Ordered a taco to try it and that was 100% spot on what we expected. The taste was exactly right and the portion of meat was very good. Also brought home a slice of tres leches cake from the fridge by the register and it was good. Not too sweet. Big enough slice for the two of us to share.I was extremely pleased with the selection of dried chilis and things you don't find in hyvee.

Torta's and burritos are great. Store is cool to look around while waiting. Definitely recommend adding the grilled jalapeño for your sandwich and grabbing a baked good.

Very Hispanic centric Mercado great selection of fresh baked goods and imported sundries. I'm a white guy and stuck out like a sore thumb but they were very friendly and cooked me some of the best Mexican food I have had outside of nogales and nuevo Laredo. Had a torta #1 and an assortment of the carne asada, churrizo and el pastor tacos. Will definitely be back for more.

I had heard the buzz about this place for a couple of months. Often I found myself angry at my friends who don't share the goodness about hole in wall joints that are amazing (kidding). I went in with average expectations. The place is essential a Mexican sundries shop with a kitchen. One thing I love is the vibe when you walk in, it has that small town, tons of products everywhere, overwhelming feel- I kinda like that. I ordered 2 tacos (was planning to get 6) and a Torta. The torta (a Mexican sandwich) grabbed my attention because it occupied 5/6 of the menu slots so I thought "this must be their thing." All were ordered carne asada (steak) even though I'm dying to try their al pastor (pork/pineapple). They have several salsas that come on the side (maybe 4-5) - I got the mild green one and the medium red one. NOW the first bite of asada taco: it was GOOD. I tried it again, VERY GOOD. It comes topped with standard cilantro/onion on a nice soft corn tortilla that has just a bit of crisp (gah so good!). The meat is INCREDIBLY flavorful. Like "don't let a small piece get away" flavorful. The must marinade it beforehand and then season while cooking. One thing I can't stand is under-seasoned food, this is NOT that. I couldn't believe it. The church i attend is right down the road from this place and I've never been. I'm kicking myself....The Torta was VERY good as well. The bread was soft and delicious. The toppings were all fresh. It wasn't dry because they add a seasoned mayo to the bread that mixes with the fresh avocado and salty asada. It was so so good. The salsas added spice and acid that really complimented the food. They were hot; the medium salsa I'd classify as a hot salsa. Very tasty. Not for the faint at heart. I also routinely eat medium/hot spicy food so I'm no light foot on the heat scale. All in all I highly recommend. I will be back, with friends.

A little piece of Mexico- a hidden fast food gem and grocery. Their burritos and Tortas (sandwiches) are phenomenal and exploding with favor. What a bargain too- just $5 and it's a huge portion. Their isn't seating, so it's best to call ahead and make your order. The lady on the phone is fluent in English and Spanish.Don't be taken back by the appearance of this place. It's not organized or pretty. I haven't tried the grocery but the fast food I keep coming back for. I get the chicken burrito and chicken Torta. They give a GENEROUS portion of chicken and avocado. It's not spicy unless you add the spice they provide. I didn't give them five stars because I do value appearances and wish they would invest in the outside and inside of this place and make it more organized. I'm sure more customers would come if they did.

Very nice people at the cash register who will help explain things. And the torta and tacos are top notch. Fresh ingredients and freshly cooked meat so it takes a little time, but it's also a grocery store so you can peruse and pick up some items to bring home too.

Go in the door. You won't regret it. Grab your drinks from the coolers then order at the register not the food counter. So good. So good. Sooooo gooood. You will thank me later.
