We were excited for this, but it ended up becoming a Marriott hotel's-level experience. At best, this is high quality hotel sushi. The problem is, whoever is preparing the sushi rice is utilizing a poor recipe. The craftsmanship is well done, but the sugar/vinegar brine is indistinguishable, leaving a very bland flavor across the board. Almost as if you were having lunch with your Grammie at the local sunrise living community. Further, I tried a spicy teriyaki udon steak bowl, and it wasn't even interesting teriyaki flavor. For $15 I got a similar experience of the two for one hungry man udon bowl at your local Walmart. I could have saved 10 bucks! It just chaps my rear if I'm being honest; the providing of ample dollars for the exchange of subpar consumables. The teriyaki had neither Tang or spice, a whole lot of sweetness, with pretty good udon noodles. All of this topped off with really tough beef of some cut or another. Pretty standard room service style Asian fare, and not something I would ever revisit. It looks the part, but tastes like an understudy...

This place used to be in our rotation, but the quality of food has dropped off a cliff.

Decided to check out Kyoto's for lunch. It was my first time dining there, but I happened to be with my sister, who happens to find there frequently as she loves their sushi. We decided to sit at a regular booth vs. the hibachi table since we were alone. If you have a bigger group of people, I'd suggest checking out a Hibachi table to really get a feel for the ambiance.Service was immediate, which I loved. We were seated right away, and the waitress came by not even a minute after we got comfortable. One thing I liked was that you had the option of ordering hibachi style meals despite being at a regular table. With the hibachi style menu, you start with a soup and salad. The soup was delicious and flavorful. However, the salad could have been prepared better for presentation purposes. The picture speaks for itself. My teriyaki chicken & shrimp came soon after and was just the way I like it, saucy !! I feel the vegetables could have been seasoned better, very bland. The fried rice was ok, and the crab Rangoon was of good quality.I will definitely try it again as I want to experience the hibachi cooking from the table, which might help in getting my vegetables seasoned to my liking. Overall, this first try wasn't too bad.

One of the best and reasonably priced sushi spots in KC in my opinion. Service is always fast and although it can be noisy with the hibachi grill, it's still a fun atmosphere to be around. We got the lava roll, salmon roll, and the kamikaze roll. Those were all very delicious, but the calamari was just ok.

Was craving sushi in the area and Kyoto was the first thing that popped up on Yelp. When you first walk in, it was very chaotic only because there's the hibachi table and those can get loud! They also have the traditional low tables where you can sit and eat which I think is probably reserved for a private room.We sat at the bar and was able to see the chef make our sushi. I always got the Las Vegas roll at other places and this was okay. I would definitely come back to try something else or even the hibachi! (smelled good and looks fun!)

My husband and I were on the Kansas side today, and we decided to check this place out today; and boy, it was amazing! I went in expecting to have a wait but we were seated almost immediately. Our waiter was absolutely top notch! He had our soup, salad and appetizer out and ready to consume within minutes of us sitting down. Our chef was great and was very gentle and friendly with our toddler, she loved his fire tricks! The rest of the staff we encountered seemed very friendly and just genuinely in a good mood. This location also has multiple tv's around the area for entertainment. The restrooms in this place were not what I expected. Have multiple stalls for more than 1 person use. Bathrooms were spotless and smelled extremely clean. Women's bathroom was fully equipped with a changing table and pad for mama's and extra toilet paper rolls. Also had bath and body works soap and lotion station which I loved! This place definitely amazed me as far as expectations are concerned. As of today, this is my now favorite place for hibachi!

This food was great I had a good time and I never realized that sushi was so good and tasteful. The. cooks were so fun and I really liked the shrimp toss! I would encourage you guys who are planing on coming to a Japanese restaurant to come to this one and you would have your self a good time. 5 Stars. P.S If you get Chef Curry he's really funny, kind, and really knows what he's doing. And it was all for 15 people! Nice job guys.

Kyoto- was the go to place for hibachi in OP for years. However, the last few times I have gone the service and food have gone down hill. I guess nothing fails quite like success. The staff when taking orders at the grill are hit or miss with kindness but the hibachi chefs are usually awesome and that hasn't changed. This town needs another hibachi place as my kids love hibachi but Benihana is much better and it's a chain! My suggestion is to update the interior and have the staff take some customer service classes. As I fear any other competing hibachi place that moves in would steal the majority of their business.
