I loved this idea of a revolving Sushi bar. They had a variety of options to choose from so that was a win.The revolving bar had very little to choose from. It was empty for a long time before anything popped up on it. We then had to order from the menu and wait for food to arrive. Honestly it took a long time for the food to be made and the portions were small. The Sushi had 3 pieces each (the exception was the California Roll with 4 pieces). I went with my 4 kids so us staying at least an hour and a half was not ideal. However we loved the food and couldn't order enough. Honestly it took so long for the food to be made we just had a few snacks before we had to leave. My kiddos can't last that long in a restaurant. I managed to grab like 2 photos due to my rowdy group. Service was really not existent. That was not a huge deal for us. I place was completely packed which is why it most likely took so long to get food. I would go back again.

Kura Revolving Sushi Bar has been an experience that sits on the fence with my friends and I. I want to focus on our dining experience rather than the quality of food and the environment in which we were welcomed. We got there a little past 8 pm on the weekend and ended up waiting over an hour for a seat, which left us about 30 mins to "enjoy" our meal. I don't know if this was an outlier or if most weekends are packed like this, but we were also so surprised they close early on the weekend for such a popular dining establishment. When we were seated, the waiter was pretty cool, and a cute robot delivered our drinks! Ipad-looking consoles were utilized to put in our orders, and we all sat next to a conveyor belt that would slide the orders out. We really couldn't savor the food since it was more so gulping everything down in a few bites and mashing the iPad to order as much as we could within our limited time frame. What was disappointing was the inability to order via our waiter because our console was just slow. I missed out on their desserts. As someone from the NYC/NJ area, I have no comment on the difference in the quality of seafood. I mean, it's expected to be different; regardless, it was good. Overall, it's an excellent, gimmicky restaurant. Want to enjoy sushi with some fun twists when ordering and being served? I'd say give this place a try at least once. Definitely a fun experience!

A one and done visit for us.Come for the fun experience but expect sushi to be pretty subpar and pretty pricey. Also service was kinda slow. Considering food is delivered by a robot or through the belt, it's weird how long it takes to get a waiter's attention on a not so busy week day visit.

Went with the kids after Christmas caroling on the plaza. Spur of the moment decision, very short wait. Atmosphere was electric, so much going on and it was such good food. You pay by the plate and you get "rewards" if you use enough plates. Very easy to use the conveyor system, kids really enjoyed it. It was a little expensive but really worth it to see how much fun the kids had. And the good was really good.

It's my first time at this location. We just walked in and got seated promptly. I enjoyed the ambiance, and staffs were polite. You basically do everything yourself. They have robot waiter delivered water and wasabi to your table. You can pick a plate on the conveyor belt or order from the tablet and it will be delivered to you. You will receive a random prize from the mascot, Mutenmaru once you inserted 15 sushi plates. We got some cute key chains. Nigiri quality is decent, not as good and is more expensive than in Japan. I didn't like the uni here, it had a bitter after taste. Beef udon was decent. My favs here were seared scallops and sweet shrimps.

If you're looking for a little preview of Japan, Kura is the place to go! A little revolving sushi place just like in Tokyo with touch screens for ordering and a little robot that brings your drinks. It's very tight spaces, as it would be in Japan, so if you're looking for a chill relaxed setting this isn't it! Each sushi plate is priced at $3.40 with about 4 pieces each plate. It adds up quick, but it's a decent little place! Nothing fancy, but gets the job done. You even get a little toy when you're done! Will be going again if I'm ever in the area!

FYI I'm not a sushi eater or big on seafood so I took my friend with me to try this place out since we had heard good things. To start, we went here on Friday night which was Valentine's Day. The wait wasn't bad at all, maybe 20 minutes without a reservation. The checkin process was easy, simply enter your contact info in the tablet at the door and get a text when your table is ready. One we were seated they explained how everything worked, ordering food and drinks, discarding used dishes, and requesting specific items. The entire concept is really cool and it's definitely a unique experience wasting at a place like this. You can either take food from the lower conveyer belt that continuously runs with random items or you can use the screen to order specific things directly to your table. Everything came out very quick and my friend said it all tasted great. Fresh quality ingredients and at good prices too. The robot drunk server was also a cool novelty you don't see everywhere. I highly recommend if you love sushi or just want a cool place to check out.

Funny enough, I've tried Kura Sushi in Taiwan and Japan but never in the US due to long lines elsewhere. Maybe I came on a good weeknight or they've ironed out lots of things since they opened, but I had a great experience.Got seated quickly, staff was friendly and quick to refill waters, and sushi was decent (not fishy, didn't get sick afterward, rice didn't fall apart). My favorites were the negitoro hand rolls, yellowtail, and salmon. The yukhoe was the most lackluster. $3.30 for most items isn't unreasonable, especially for the handrolls. I didn't want to try anything else on the menu and be disappointed so if I come back I'd still stick to the fish.My only gripe was the taiyaki which was deep fried and tasted similar to Chinese fried donut sticks. Still on the hunt for a proper taiyaki in the area (so far the best has been my own homemade ones...).I love that you can pay separately at the end if you pay on mobile. Tapping and item to split it is the best thing ever without having to call staff over.I will say it's easy to spend a lot here. I ended up spending about $40 and had 10 plates of sushi + dessert.

It was my SILs 30th birthday, so we came here to celebrate as she used to live in Japan and frequented Kura there. There was 6 people in our party, which the restaurant isn't really set up to accommodate properly. We were packed in because we didn't want to separate - but I wouldn't recommend coming here with more than a party of 4. The sushi train is probably the best in KC based on the variety of options offered & ability to custom order on the tablet. The animations when putting plates in the little slot were awesome and prices here were very reasonable for what you get - and better than other sushi train options in KC. If it's your first time please ask a server to show you how to grab the plates, my husband grabbed one wrong and fish eggs flew everywhere Overall a better experience than I expected. It was clear the restaurant is understaffed which is unfortunate, as half the restaurant couldn't be seated due to the issues and one of the bathrooms was out of order while the other wasn't the cleanest. We also did not receive waters and it's definitely a minimal service experience. I think this is such a unique addition to the plaza so it was a bit disappointing to see. The sushi was great and I would definitely come again with a smaller party.

My wife invited me and her two kids to Kura sushi, a new restaurant designed to deliver a true Japanese experience where the sushi is delivered by a conveyor. I've never been, and being a techy type, I was excited to say yes.We entered to find an Amazon warehouse of belts and conveyors delivering sushi from the kitchen to the diners. Then, from nowhere, I see a robot glide past with a smiley face on the screen and drinks in its back being delivered to each table. With more gadgets and gizmos than your average adult toy mega store, I once again became excited, but this time to finally get sat down, and start enjoying the experience. There was nowhere to stand while waiting. People were cutting the line to check on reservations, and the front areas seemed to harken more to a traffic jam in Italy than the automation and organization becoming of Japan. After a short 40-minute wait, we were shown to our table where the lady explained how to order, how the robots delivered drinks, how to pull a plate out of the sushi delivery capsule, which conveyor was for general food, which delivered A La Carte food, how to call for her help if we had questions, and finally how to pay. After the "ins and outs" of the sushi delivery Ted talk, we started to get our drinks order put into the control panel. We waited some 20 minutes, and a 3ft high pygmy robot arrived, quietly whispered something that none of us heard over the noise. It turned its back to us exposing our drinks order and I proceeded to remove the rather sticky cups from its rather sticky backend and realized that judging from the shiny area where the cups were sat, it's acceleration and deceleration was set to "spill" mode and thus our drinks are now 70 percent full and very sticky. It was at this time I realized the table for four must have been specially designed and made for this restaurant by Mattel as the partially filled sticky cups that were delivered by the shy pygmy robot had taken up much of the " my first table" space. I also noticed that 3 out of every 5 sushi capsules were already opened, and we were located at the end of the general delivery conveyor. So instead of waiting for the food I wanted to randomly appear, like a contestant on a TV game show, we would order exactly what we want on the other conveyor and off we went again into the control panel for "a la capsule" ordering. We did finally have a couple of capsules with sushi come past on the general conveyor and tried frantically as they passed to remove the plate from the capsule before our window closed. But we were unssuccessfull and suddenly, our sushi day turned into a hunting expedition, with only a few seconds to decide, target, pull the trigger, and hope our food doesn't get away. The sushi hunting, shy pigmy moomba, sticky cups and barbies kitchen table were all becoming a bit much of a gimic for me, I just wanted to eat sushi. I had been there over an hour at this pont but not to be a downer for the children, I worked to be happy like all perants at Disney, you do it for the kids while they enjoy the show. Finally, we got a plate to give up its will to remain in its life support capsule ( at least the fight felt that way), and I have to say I wished it would have won the battle. Such dissapiontment was not worth the fight. The plate was not clean, the spoon for the soup had a huge lump of crud on it, and the shrimp atop the rice was almost transparent. Most of the plates were not clean, and I suddenly found myself asking if all these capsules were cleaned as they go around and around all day, I tried the translucent shrimp and it tasted as it looked, insipid, void of anything but rubbery chew, and sorely disappointing. We wanted more drinks, but you can not order refills on the console or you get charged, so we had to call for help, and the lady took our refill order and just like the hyper efficiency of japan withing 15 minutes the shy, pigmy, drink spilling moomba delivered 65 percent of the drinks we needed.I didn't eat anything else, I was done. So I waited for the others to achieve their own peak levels of dissapiontment, and we took another three birthdays of time trying to pay the $130 bill for four people at the console. There is a cheaper way to have the same experience. Go to your local grocery store that sells the pre-made sushi, the kind that makes you feel "risky" when you pay ( same quality foods). Get in the longest line at self check out (same waiting time) then place the food on the conveyor ( same delivery system) and watch it move ( same amount of wow factor) and finally, eat it in your car in the parking lot ( same level of table space) and actually you'll gain, as you save having to tip !By all means, take your kids and let them have fun, but I'm going down the street to friends sushi, consistent, good quality, low noise, and all of that for the same price, in half the time and without a moomba in site.
