Fabulous food! My husband loved the Bo Bun. H e ordered it with beef (just like he did in Vietnam). It was excellent. I had the Nam Khao. It was amazing! it had an abundance of fresh mint leaves so I could have a bite of mint with ever forkful! I got the ground pork but would try the fermented sausage next time! it looked so interesting! And, if you get the Lao sausage appetizer, you MUST EAT IT with a slice of fresh jalapeño, fresh cabbage and fresh ginger. The flavors compliment each other perfectly! I am not a fan of Asian restaurant desserts (French or American desserts - absolutely), however the sticky rice mango was a decent dessert. it was good to split it with 4 people.

This is going to be one of my top restaurants in KC. Definitely not as well known, so I only found it through browsing Google maps for restaurants in the area. When we came for dinner, there was only one other couple dining in, so there was plenty of seating. Smallish interior, with maybe 10-12 tables.Service was phenomenal. I think the owner of the restaurant was the one who also helped us and brought out our food, so I don't think they have separate server staff. She was very kind and patient, and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered several different dishes to try together.I sadly cannot remember the names of what we ordered, but pictures attached for reference. My favorite was definitely the soup and the noodles. So well seasoned, with nice char flavor on the noodles, and perfect amount of spice in the soup broth. Loved having both the fresh green onions along with crispy shallots on top. Definitely tasted authentic, and I had no complaints. Food came out pretty quick too for how much we ordered. At the end, the owner came out and offered us a complimentary dessert item. I've never had it before, but it was a fried item, with pandan flavors - really good! Loved how light and crispy it was.Overall, wonderful dining experience, and I'll definitely return.

Very authentic Lao food! I miss having authentic Laotian food from the east coast. My bf happen to find this hidden gem while we was exploring overland park/shawnee area. The wife and husband that own the shop was very nice. They give us 2 complimentary dessert drink and it was so refreshing. We have a very good conversation and find out more about their food. The owner make everything fresh. We order the Lao sausage that was homemade. It was very soft and not too salty. Perfect with the dipping sauce. We got the papaya salad Lao style, the beef larb and nam khao and drunken noodle. Everything was super delicious. I can taste the flavor of the fresh spices, lime and peppers. Highly recommended! The restaurant is not too big, but enough! It's a cute little spot, very clean and smell good! I love that they put the different sauces on the table!. We will be back to try other entrees on the menu.

The food was very good. I ordered Laotian hot like a fool and it killed me but the waitress gave me a free drink to help with the spice and apologized even though it wasn't her fault haha!

I love to review local restaurants, especially ones near my home (I can walk to this place) and I LOVE Pho.Khio Jai Der is on the corner of Quivera and 119th and it is a South Asian restaurant that service both Laotian and Vietnamese food. It is a tiny spot that can hold between 15 to 20 people with 6-7 tables. It is next to the very busy Talk of the Town bar.The Pho is not the Pho Bo you see in nearly all Vietnamese restaurants. It is more of a regional specialty reminiscent of Bun Bo Hue, a spicy rich soup. I got the specialty that came with Steak, Brisket, Tripe and Meatballs.Let me start with the positives. It is one of the best bowls you will eat in KC, if you can handle spice. They even lay out additional spices on the table just in case (although I would not say they are necessarily for the pho). The soup is extremely rich and flavorful and the meats were top notch and there is more than what you get from other places. I would say that they are at the same level as the KC standard, Vietnam Cafe near River Market (Columbus Park). There were two negatives and they were pretty big. The first is the aromatics (basil) were old and limp. Not good. They also don't provide cilantro, but maybe that you don't get that with Spicy Pho, but I love cilantro.Second, is the price. This place is super expensive. A bowl with just water and tip cost me $26. A bowl of combination Pho at Vietnam Cafe would be $7-8 cheaper. Is it worth it? For me, not as a regular meal, it is a good treat, but far too expensive to eat it more than once in a while.

I am glad my friend and I decided to come here! We came for a late lunch and it was such a lovely experience. We chatted with the owner for a little while and she was delightful. The food came out quickly and was delicious. My friend got one of the rice noodle dishes with chicken and adored it. I believe got the pad woon sen? It was fantastic. The tofu was cooked perfectly. I'm sometimes weary ordering tofu because it so often is cooked incorrectly and spongy. Thankfully that was not the case! It was scrumptious. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of the menu along with the mango sticky rice!

What a hidden gem. My friend and I decided to dine in on a whim. There is very limited seating so it's better for small groups, four max. We were told that a lot of people choose to-go or pick up, rather than dine in. The room is bright and the menu looks really delicious. I wanted to try everything! The Mee Ka Tii was so delicious. The pork was the most tender I've had in a soup and cooked perfectly. My friend got the Boat Noodles and raved about. Loved all the rich flavors. We will be back for sure. Loved this little place.

Wow this place has a huge menu! It has so many food items that I had never heard of or tried before. I decided to go with one of their traditional dishes. I had also never had a fresh spring roll before, they are so good! I felt so much better after eating them than when I have the fried ones. There are actually a few tables inside despite how small it looks from the outside. The employees were very friendly and helpful since we did not know what we were doing.
