I love coming to KD's. As an educator, I can always find the "hottest and newest" books for my classroom AND for myself! I love supporting local, and I love what they stand for as well. Every time I come in, I am always welcomed with friendly conversation. The price of the books are great, and better than you can get in those big box stores or Amazon. Support local book stores!

This store was fun a year ago when they had used books and fun book treasures, but it's even better now with an expanded adult section. They no longer have the used books, but they have all the new releases and more. I always stop in here when I'm in DTLS. The employees are so helpful. I love it when they have events. I once met a local author signing books, and we need more of that! I will continue shopping here so we can keep a great indie bookstore in business.

The owner literally would prefer to take a yardstick to the children. We were inside inquiring about a book club for children and my child was told NO, too young. No suggestions, no alternatives, no advice, just a fat NO and get out of my store, quit wasting my time. Sad, downtown LS really needs a good bookstore.

Cute little children's book store, with a dark hidden secret. Brave past the brightly colored books for youngsters to the back of the store, and you'll find a doorway. Behind it is a veritable treasure trove of used literary goodness. My fiance was shopping for a gift for her nephew as I mindlessly wandered about. Suddenly, I found myself among towering stacks of paperbacks in a hidden little back room. I stood there, mouth agape, and took it all in. If you find yourself in downtown Lee's Summit, take the adventure yourself. You'll be well rewarded.

In the past few years, Lee's Summit has cultivated a locally owned, small business community that spreads a couple of blocks on either side of the railroad tracks that pass through the old downtown area. One of my favorite stores is KD's Books. And my very favorite part of the store is the wonderful selection of books for young children -- most especially I love the large collection of heavy cardboard books for the youngest readers among us. It is an impressive array and has something for every little girl or boy on your shopping list. There are also a lot of old favorites, in hard cover and soft cover. Ones that I read to my babies 40 years ago and are still available to enchant a new generation of kids. Throughout the store are also carefully selected wooden toys and some stuffed characters that are companion pieces to some of the books, such as Thomas the Tank Engine, Clifford the Big Red Dog and Pete the Cat. They offer Melissa and Doug wooden doll dress up sets and all sorts of items to encourage Let's Pretend play. I have visited KD's Books for several years to find age appropriate quality gifts for my grandchildren and, now, for my great-grandchildren. Lee's Summit is lucky to have such a nice little treasure of a store.

What a great little place. Wish I lived here. I would be here often. Wide selection of educational children's books. Lots of used paperbacks to browse. Also loved the location.

Great little bookstore, which are harder and harder to find these days. Very helpful staff and friendly. If they don't have it, they will try as hard as they can to get it for you.

This book store is a community treasure. It was my favorite place when I was a kid, and its awesomeness remains to this day. They have books and gifts galore, and a wall of cards for any occasion. Little book stores like this one seem to be getting more rare, but that's one of the things that makes KD's so special -- it delivers a "lose yourself" browsing experience seldom duplicated. Located in old downtown Lee's Summit, it is its own destination. I guarantee you will spend more time in here than you intended. And it's totally worth it.
