My new running shoes were recommended by my foot doctor but after 300 miles the heels inside were shredded. Wanting another opinion I popped in to KC Running to see what they thought. Looking at my shoes he reassured me they still had another 100-200 miles in them and that it was typical of the rest of the wear of my shoe. He even let me put on a new bear of my shoe model and feel the difference. There was none so I knew I was good with my old ones. He was so helpful and could have used the chance to sell me a new pair but he remained honest. The store has such a laid back vibe. Runners and their shoes are like buying a new car. You get sold a lot and rarely get heard. I will for sure be buying my shoes from here now. Helps that they have the sweetest shop dog ever. Dog cuddles, kind help and new shoes...SOLD!

Wow! I wish all stores could be this great. The guys in the store who helped us were so knowledgeable and patient. Not pushy at all. Highly recommend coming here for all of your running needs.

KC Running puts on some solid races around town that tend to be well organized. My only experience with their store on 135th has been coming out for National Running Day celebrations on June 1st where they host a free-$5 group run leaving from their store. It's followed up by pizza, marketing booths and a bunch of sweaty people. The inside of the store is nice, but I noticed yesterday that there wasn't a ton of running apparel here. There were a handful of shirts, but on the whole it was a small wall of shoes, a treadmill to try them out, and a minimalistic style of running store. One thing is, to me, 135th and Metcalf isn't really KC. It's a distant suburb, and I wish that KC Running Company would consider locating somewhere downtown or in the Crossroads. Would be nice to have the group that covers so many areas of town with their runs centrally located, just my two cents.

They canceled a race 24 hours after I signed up and kept the cash. Only other business that has treated me this poorly was a fly-by-night drop ship site based out of China. Will definitely be avoiding their events in the future. Don't expect them to put their customers first.

I left them a message on Saturday, because I went to the store and they were closed despite their hours on their website AND Google saying that they were open. I intended to go back when they returned my call, but by Wednesday they never did. I guess they don't want the business.

I'm a new runner and they were so nice!!! Michelle is awesome and so helpful! I now feel better armed to put one step in front of the other and not kill myself. LOLBut seriously.... Their new store is in a great location, is very well stocked, and the employees are a wealth of information. A friend of mine needed a knee brace and I was SHOCKED at the stock and knowledge they had. And, who doesn't love a locally made product? Come on now!! I personally needed some running socks and they didn't disappoint. Both were very reasonably priced too. And even if you are new to running or a seasoned vet.. they have a running club, put on very high quality races and have a great area set with brochures and calendars for the season around KC.

I have run in dozens of races sponsored and/or timed by KC Running Company during the past two years and will say that they are the gold standard for race planning, management, and timing. They always put on high-quality, professional races, and I think that just about anyone who has run many road races in KC during the past few years would agree.Race results are always accurate and posted very quickly and photos follow soon after when applicable. The KC Running Company sponsored races such as Rock the Parkway, Rock the Crossroads, the Rivalry Run, and the Monster Dash are fun for everyone whether they are competitive runners or recreational joggers or walkers and many of them have kids races afterwards so they are great for children and families. The staff who help out with the events also get to know you and recognize you and it's always so nice for them to see you before or after a race and call you by your name. In sum, they know what they are doing and they care about putting on the best possible race for everyone. Any time you run a race timed by KC Running Company or hosted by them you can be assured it'll be a good one!
