I can't bring my review to more than 3 stars... the food was very mediocre (is that a thing)? Meh at its best. The staff was very friendly and attentive though. And it's a small business place, I want them to succeed, but I just can't see myself coming back here.... On a weekend early lunch, came into an empty restaurant. The guy working immediately took my order and said "5 minutes." I was like wow, that's quick. Food came out not within 5 minutes, but it was fairly quick. I got the 2 meat with 2 sides ($17). Ribs and burnt ends to compare it to the other BBQ I had (Joe's). Also green beans and cheesy corn. It was A LOT of food. I got soooo full. The ribs and burnt ends were very disappointing. They both didn't have any taste/flavors/smokiness. The sauces (2 kinds) were mediocre. One was too sweet, and the other one was just a bit better (more tangy). The ribs felt like they were boiled, with no hint of being smoked or grilled at all.... burnt ends were a bit tough, and no flavors at all. I was thinking the entire time, I could make better ribs than this... and I thought Joe's were okay, but after tasting this, Joe is the best ribs so far I had in Missouri.Green beans were okay. Nothing special. Cheesy corn was okay too. The only good things about this place was the people working and the decoration. There was a guy picking up food to go, and he said that their bbq was so good he had to come back. I was thinking the entire time what did he order?? I must have ordered the wrong things. Or I just have a different palate than others. Idk.I'm sorry, I tried my best to enjoy the food, but I can't bring myself or anyone come back here.

To call this place "no frills" would be churching it up. It is a dive in the truest sense of the word and I was so excited when I happened upon it. It's dingy and a bunch of booths thrown into a room that were not originally there. The menu board was posted on the wall and the employees were friendly - I was stoked. I got the three meat platter. Let's start with the namesake - this is one of the best places you'll find in KC to get the Babyback style ribs. They have a great bark and are flavorful and juicy. The sauce is thick, with a bunch of molasses, and a nice smoky flavor. I really liked it. At the request of the counter I got the pulled pork, beef burnt ends, mac 'n cheese, and beans. The beans were highly recommended but were soupy. Honestly, they felt like canned beans that someone had gone overboard on the liquid smoke and molasses with. The Mac 'n cheese was just average. A standard elbow Mac - nothing to write home about. The pulled pork was unsauced and came with a split roll so I could sandwich it - I appreciated that. However it was simultaneously dry and sipping wet. It was unseasoned and had an ok pork flavor. The burnt ends were tender and good. Just one problem - they weren't burnt ends. They were cubes of brisket that had been doused in some kind of tomato juice or BBQ au jus. Honestly until I left and went out back looking for the smoker, I was convinced they didn't have one. The service and Babybacks are fantastic but there are so many better joints. I wanted to like this place so badly but highly doubt I'll return.

This is a quaint little business that has that small town vibe. The waitresses are folksy and scripted ("Hello- Welcome to KC Baby Back Ribs, Home of the Trucker Special, How can I Help You"). They take pride in their product; I had 3 different staff members asking about my meal or telling me about the beans and ribs.I ordered the 2 meats and 2 side plate. Ribs and Burnt Ends with Baked Beans and Cajun Potato Salad. A hearty meal for $16. I don't know where the Cajun part of the potato salad was because nothing visual or seasoning wise made me think of Louisiana. The beans were bragged about from the staff but I found them to be average. The meats were tender and plentiful. Four bones covering a pile of "burnt ends" covered in a thick sweet sauce. Nothing stood out as a reason to return, and none of the items would make my top 20 for best in class. A good place for the people that live in the area, but not worthy of a drive across town and certainly don't let this be your only BBQ meal in KC if you are traveling thru.

Got my usual pulled pork with beans with brisket. Pulled pork and beans were good. Brisket was extra thinly sliced and just ok so stick with their pork and ribs like their name suggests. Sauce is good here.

With the limited choices of BBQ restaurants in this area, I was pleasantly surprised to see this little hole in the wall open recently. Very friendly servers here, suggested the cheesy corn as a side, so I ended up ordering it with a hotdog. She came back to let me know that they were out of hotdogs and I could upgrade to a regular sandwich for no Charge, so I ended up with the brisket sandwich. The flavor of the sauce and smokiness of the meat was pleasant, but the brisket was a little dry. Cheesy corn was good, not my absolute favorite in town, but a nice side dish. Overall I will give them another try when I am craving some decent BBQ in this part of town! *I was only charged $3 for my meal

It is getting busier at KC Baby Back Ribs. After eating here multiple times I realize this place should only be rated on its ribs. That's it.Ribs in top 3 of all KC bbq places!!! Great flavor. Charred perfect on the outside. Fall off bone after you break the char. I don't even open the sauces for these ribs. They don't need anything else.Nothing else to brag about here. Just get the ribs.Burnt Ends are really good, but don't rate in my top 3 in KC.Pulled Pork is ok.Brisket is okSides are okService is sub par. Have some patience if dining.Atmosphere is nothing to brag about, but is fine for a BBQ place. When I go here from now on, it's only for the slab of ribs...ordered to go. If you love ribs, this is your 5 star experience!

This was the worst bbq joint I have ever been in.40 or so dead flies in the window should have been a red flag.We were one of the first ones In the door but I believe we were served the dry meat left from the day before. The sauce is plain it tasted like bottled sweet baby rays. The fries are gross and they gave us white bread the eat on instead of a bun.Not good bread btw.Won't be back!
