This was the coolest zoo and that we've ever been to! My kiddos are 3 & 5 and absolutely loved every bit of it. The polar bear was by far the coolest animal that we've ever seen. We purchased the wristband that gave us access to the train, tram, boat (only on the weekends/we didn't get to experience this one), and more. Worth every penny! The scenic tram over Africa was absolutely incredible. You can see the giraffes (baby Willow!), the Rhino, flamingos, and more. We also loved seeing the penguins swim in the aquarium. We made it in time to see the afternoon sea lion show which was impressive and adorable. The free roaming kangaroos are cute as well. WOW is all that I have to say about this zoo. A true dream day! We will definitely be back on our next visit to KC.

Well planned out and extensive zoo and Aquarium. Aquarium was small but good exploration of all the different oceans and zones. Couldn't believe they had lapwings indoors!!!Aussie lapwings are so flighty and anxious. These were calm. The poor sea turtle with buoyancy issues due to a damaged shell was so sad. It's a good teaching point for boating safety and marine wildlife. Hopefully the carers will figure out how to solve it. With divers you just adjust breathing and weight belts and vest. more complex. The train was very exciting for my nephew. He was thrilled to bits.Definitely looking forward to more Zoo visits.

Today I got in my last few hours of Zoo fun before my membership ends! But I'll be back for GloWild, which is going to be bigger and better than ever this year. It's an extravaganza of glowing hand-crafted displays of gorgeous flora, fauna, castles, dragons, unicorns, lions and tigers ...oh my....all the way around the zoo grounds! During my short visit today, I saw monkeys of all sorts in the Discovery Center, the Tropics pavilion, and in the Australian section. Be sure to catch the Zoo Train/Railroad to get around to this part, which goes through a tunnel that's all dark, except for glowing arches of lights, and one section where they go speeding down the tracks!I still find the colorful Zoo map brochure extremely hard to follow and confusing, and there's still not enough signage pointing you to many of the exhibits on the map. I had to stop at least 5 times to ask employees for clarification, and many didn't seem much more knowledgeable than I... but I have to give them credit for always trying! And plan on any food or beverage you buy here to be outrageously priced!I don't think I'll ever outgrow going to Zoos and going on every ride possible...my inner child is always delighted! My favorites here are the African Sky Tram, the boat, and the little zoo train.

Honestly glad they have the aquarium. My son LOVES it there! He could care less for the zoo, the aquarium really brings joy to his day. I just wish their aquarium was bigger (compared to the zoo itself). Parking is horrible. If you're not there when they're open, you're parking a hefty walking distance away. I would recommend purchasing your tickets online. Or you'll have to wait at the counter (long lines). The zoo itself, nothing too special, honestly. There were 1 or 2 animals per (monkeys & birds has more per). They were typically sleeping. So again, my son didn't enjoy much of the zoo. They weren't "lively" to catch his attention.

We decided to spend a family day here. Clearly, we came at the wrong time because most of the animals were sleeping. I can count on one hand how many animals we saw (here's looking at you, zebras, lions, giraffes, penguins, and elephants). The aquarium was definitely the highlight. The zoo wasn't what I remembered as a kid. My son said it was meh. He liked looking at the snakes and in the aquarium. He did say that while the Omaha Zoo seems smaller, it has more to offer. We all agreed. If you come out to the Zoo, come early, like when they open, or you'll miss seeing most of the animals.

This Zoo & Aquarium is definitely worth the price. There is so much to see, that personally, I think you need to go 2x. They take really good care of the animals and there's plenty of places to sit and relax. There's a tram that takes you to a more remote area, which is nice, since it's a large Zoo. I would definitely go again.

It can be easy to forget that Kansas City has a Zoo and Aquarium, but you shouldn't. The KC Zoo has been striving to make additions and improvements all the time and more recently with the addition of an Aquarium. I think the Aquarium will eventually be a great draw to kids and adults alike as larger fish are added to the exhibits. However, I personally think all the best stuff to see are in the Africa portions of the zoo. There are often times that Africa is the only section we go through when we visit. But be sure to bring hats and sunblock during the summer months because there isn't a ton of shade around unless you're inside a building. You can see more of our experience on our YouTube travel channel: https://youtu.be/fxYtm4DJeUA

I expected more out of the zoo... Drive to Omaha or St. Louis for an amazing zoo experience. The layout was one of the worst I have ever seen in a zoo.

I am newer to KC and have really enjoyed this Zoo. The Zoo just added the new aquarium, and it is so good. I lived in California, where I got to visit Monterey Bay all the time and this new KC Aquarium is state of the Art. Me and my kids love this Zoo and visit it frequently. This Zoo reminds me of the San Diego Zoo. There is a lot of walking but it's all worth it. We have season passes and visit the Zoo a few hours at a time.

I loved the Kansas City Zoo when I was a kid and I love it even more now. What a great place, the exhibits and designed to where you have a peak into the animal's lives, not a sterile, blank place for them. And the new aquarium is amazing!Easy free parking and discounts for seniors, children and Jackson and Clay County residents makes it an affordable place for the whole family. If you haven't been in a while, GO, if you've never been, GO, if you've been recently and loved it, GO AGAIN!
