I waited until the very end to attempt a photo, so they wouldn't have to throw me out before I saw this amazing production.

We saw "A Christmas Carol" here and loved it. This play has been being performed for over 40 years in KC.During the entire performance I couldn't help but think how lucky we are to live in a city that offers this high caliber performance of an age old tale. The staff was professional from start to finish. Parking was ample. Easy to get in and out at the end of the night. Looking forward to coming back!

The KC Rep is working hard to create performance opportunities for local artists, and awesome shows for audiences in a safe space. Tonight we attended "Ghost Light" on the lawn of the Nelson Atkins Museum. It was COLD but it was worth it! The Rep is getting reallycreative in an effort to keep Kansas City theater alive during the pandemic. Please follow them on social media and support our local theaters!

The KC Rep is a freaking gem, and on this frosted holiday night for A Christmas Carol, it hit on all of KC's greatest notes. We wound through the beautiful Plaza lights to UMKC where the Rep is nestled into the hill of the semi-scenic campus. You get a nice peek of the Nelson Atkins from the parking lot as well. The exterior of the Rep blends in with campus, the inside is festive with strings of lights coming down and a nice Christmas tree around the bar area. Speaking of the bar area, grab yourself some holiday cheer here! All the money for the drinks goes back to the theater, so you're supporting the arts while sipping on wine. We tried the "Fezziwig' hot cocoa and schnapps and it's fun. PRO TIP: Order for intermission while you get that first drink and skip the big lines. You prepay, they take your name, and then you walk to the opposite side of the lines and find your drinks hanging out for you right when intermission kicks off. As we waited to go in the theater, the actors in all their Dickens attire lined up on the balcony above the lobby and started singing Christmas carols. I mean c'mon, how can you not be feeling it at that point? For the Christmas Carol, let me tell you this is EPIC. A fantastic production with quality acting, effects, music. I'd run out of words on this review to go into all the details but I can just say it is fantastic. I love the classic story as it is, but seeing a live version transports you back in time. It'll certainly get you into the spirit of the holidays in all the best ways.A show of this quality will cost you big time in any other bigger city, but the prices are reasonable here and there isn't a bad seat in the house. For Chrismas Carol specifically, plan ahead in October or so and get discounts.. Also to ensure your spots because I believe they sell out every single show throughout December. Now they do productions year round, and I'm going to make a point to see them even if I'm unfamiliar with the story. The rest of the country may not know about KC's arts & culture, but it certainly shines bright for us locals and makes me proud to be from KC.

We bought our tickets on a holiday sale last month and I have been anxiously awaiting the day. I have never been to this venue or this particular production of the Christmas Carol. We were definitely not disappointed!! With it's festive decorations in the lobby, strong cocktails to begin, small theater area with great seats abound, this may easily become a holiday tradition. The acting was fabulous, KC proud moment for sure. It was easy to become engulfed in the story. I found myself laughing, singing and crying. What a wonderful way to kick off the holiday season!

Third time to see A Christmas Carol here. Always such a great show. Pick up of on call tickets is super easy. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available before and after the show, along with cookies and even a sandwich or two!We did not stay afterward but they usually have the cast singing carols in the loft area above the lobby after the show which is so nice. Great Christmas tree to take your picture by and always someone willing to take your photo! The show. AMAZING. A little different each year, but always first rate. Do yourself a favor and start a family tradition by going to this show every year!

I have attended two shows here in the last year, both were excellent. I was concerned at the smaller stage set up but they did a phenomenal job at sets, lighting and acting. From what I gather, this is a local theater and tends to put on more politically heated shows (except at Christmas, they put on a Christmas Carol, which is a MUST see). They have a bar for drinks, don't buy their coffee, very burnt. You are allowed to bring drinks to your seats. Seats are spacious enough, my mom and her husband both have back issues, and didn't seem to ha e any issues. It's a nice small intimate theatre, worth seeing a show. There is a parking garage available for use, the theater is located on UKMCs campus by the Plaza.

We took a friend to see the KC Repertory Theater production of A Christmas Carol tonight and came away amazed at how good it was. The choral components were outstanding as was the set design. (I will say, however, that the movement of the set, while very ingenious and effective, sometimes made me feel a little dizzy!) The theater itself is lovely and just the right size where you can sit in the last row and still feel like you're able to see everything going on. If I was going to point out anything that was less than nearly perfect, I'd say the "happy holidays" final farewell from the cast didn't seem in keeping with the flavor of this production. The need to be PC seemed forced and out of place, given the context of all that we'd seen and heard throughout the production. If you have someone who startles easily, it might be good to warn them that there will be sudden very loud noise effects. While eerily effective, these loud booms and bangs had me jumping more than once. One scene, featuring a snow type effect literally brought me to tears, it was so moving and beautiful. The entire production was first rate and extremely well-done. What a great way to start the Christmas season.

Fun Home was a well done and thought provoking piece of theater. I am anxious to see what the new Artistic Director comes up with for the next season.

I would not recommend Cyrano de Bergerac. I reviewed this about 3 weeks ago and yelp cancelled my review. This language was vulgar and nothing like the play should have been in the time period of the late 1880s. There was more dialogue about gender fluidity and sexual preference than what the play was about. We left at intermission, and we were not the only ones to leave.
