First time taking my kids here this year, and I have to say we had a lot of fun! They are into dragons, unicorns, mermaids, and the like, and this really delivered on opening weekend (Labor Day). I should note, the crowds were not too heavy because it was hot and opening weekend; the first fall cold front weekend sounds like it gets quite crowded. We were able to get BOGO adult tickets with a donation to Harvester's food pantry, so it made everything manageable and very fair. Plus, parking is free out here so that's nice. We had to get turkey legs, candied nuts, popcorn...okay now as I write this back I'm realizing I should've eaten more before we came here. Everything was delicious nevertheless. Some highlights from my girls:- Getting their faces painted- The parade through the fair- Climbing around and playing in a kids zone- A big dragon swing- Mermaid cove where the mermaids gave them seashellsHighlights from me:- Shade - The games (enjoyed squaring up a water balloon on a jester's face)- The beard oil vendor who I bought my new favorite beard oil fromThe only thing that was a bit redundant is that there are so many stores and shops to buy stuff in, oftentimes outweighing the activities. Could also just chalk it up to two girls who want everything they see, but it felt like a LOT of shopping.Characters were great, energy was good, and I'd go back for sure.

Yesterday we visited the Renaissance Faire for the first time and we had a blast. Here is the breakdown! The pros: The costumes or garb The people watching The trinkets The performancesLots of cool things to do and seeThe dogs dressed up (cuteness overload; ales and tales weekend)People were nice Scoth Eggs Parking is free Costco sells tickets ($42 for 2 adults and 2 Turkey legs) Plenty of shade and seating Family friendly The cons: The huge lines (45 minutes for Turkey legs and 1 hr line Scoth eggs) The food is okay but not great. $13 Turkey legs Not disability friendly (we went with someone that had back problems and she couldn't walk up and down all the small hills) Some people might disapprove of the camel ridesSo much dirt (take your allergy medicine before you come) Overall people should experience it at least once. We liked it and we'll be back next year. The jousting was awesome but I wish that they had better speakers nobody could hear what they were saying.

It's been years since we've been back. My family always love to explore and shop. This place had a lot of games and fun shows and plays. A lot of people who were dressed up and in characters. Lots of fun!

The Ren Fest Village is quite impressive! Love to spend half a day here for the people watching, the ales, the jousting, the face painting and the shopping. Free parking is a nice touch. Prepare yourself for the dust and wear comfy shoes. Lots of great events and entertainers to keep you busy!

Knights of lights is now a tradition, such a great use of the festival grounds. Cookies with Mrs. Clause, cocoa with Santa and a ton of Christmas lit space to search for elves. 12 to be exact. Found em all while we also did some of the familiar favorites from the Ren fest days. The walking cup chicken mash potatoes and gravy was so tasty, couple other soup options and always get the waffle fries/chips. Ren fest folks are just a unique bunch, basically the coolest and worst accent ever. IYKYK watching them interact with each other and families is some of the best people watching. Although they have Christmas music and you can hear it everywhere, live music would be great to see. I bet if this gets bigger, live music could be a very real possibility. Kegs and eggs is next, can't wait!

I go to the KC Ren Fest every year and I will continue to go for the following reasons:- performers and staff are incredible. They are the heart and soul of the festival.- inclusivity of costumes, children and pets- it is a unique event to attend in Kansas city during the comfortable, early fall weather. - the shops and vendors are unique and fun to peruse and explore- all ages can enjoy the grounds and activities at any budget pointReasons I did not give 5 stars:- restrooms are abhorrent. Be sure to go before you come- 0 handicap accessibility - cash only for a majority of things- buildings are literally crumbling and the grounds are unkept- food is sub-par, expensive, low-variety and the lines can be longUltimately I am a fan but I would love to see some improvements to the festival grounds and offerings.Pro tip: When you visit, bring small bills in cash to tip your performers and staff!!! They make this experience excellent for all visitors and our tips keep them coming back.

Entertainment is great. People watching is great. Just don't eat there. All the food besides maybe the turkey leg is disgusting and hard. All the vendors are cool. The actors are fun!

The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is a local Kansas City favorite for many years to the area. my kids always love going and seeing all the different performers, eating the food and seeing the local craftsman of the area.We don't go every year, but we try and go every few years just to see if anything new has been added.if you are a cosplayer, then this is a fantastic place to dress up and come out for a great afternoon. I love that everyone gets so involved and in character.

I absolutely enjoy attending the Ren-Fest in every city I live near but this one is absolutely the best! I have not seen so many different shops, excellent staff, and people who actually dress up. I would recommend the actors use microphones or loudspeakers... the jousting was very hard to hear.
