KC Country Club is the oldest and most prestigious golf club in Kansas City. Founded in 1896, allegedly it is the 3rd oldest golf club west of the Mississippi River.I've played here many times with friends and colleagues... This is the way an old country club is operated when budget is not a consideration. Everything here is of the finest quality: dining, club house, golf course, staff...One quirk of the KC Country Club. Short socks are banned from the course! So, don't show up in shorts and short socks that don't fully cover your ankles. You'll be required to purchase a $20 pair of long socks from the pro shop before they will let you on the course! This is really a great club! Tom Watson, local PGA Legend, is a member here and he has forced them to adapt to the 21st century. I credit Tom with driving the culture at the club to be more open and inviting to all people.

'The" Kansas City Country Club USED to be the most exclusive in the area. Top golfers, exceptional food and the elite of Kansas City. Today, the Sysco truck is there two or three times a week, 2 members were under indictment, at least 4 are predatory lenders, and one is married to a felon. They are hungry for new members ($55,000), assesments come up on a regular basis and the club is run entirely by a self-promoting manager who has the "board" completely under his control.A country club should be an extension of the comforts of your own home. The "KTripple C" sometimes seems like an extension of a detention center.

They state they want to be world class golf club BUT pour tons of chemicals onto greens and now installing giant 12 ft, obnoxiously noisy fans which disrupt property values and too loud to hear the rest of their other mower noise (and eliminates sound of birds, squirrel chatter, no more discussion with neighbor or enjoying your own property.) World class ugly.

This was a rather disappointing experience. 4 of us played golf as guests at the KC Country Club. The staff was very helpful and courteous providing good explanations of their amenities and getting us started. The building was well cared for but just looked old and stogy. The front 9 of the golf course was basically the level of a nice municipal or park district course, e.g., flat, uninteresting, and rather easy. The back 9, however, provided a much more interesting, scenic, and challenging course. There are no restrooms out on the course and oddly enough, was missing some cart paths. Most high calibre country club courses will blow or vacuum leaves so people don't have to spend too much time hunting balls in the piles of leaves. Not KC Country Club. Overall it was not worth the money it cost to play this course. There are 10 or more courses in the KC are that provide a better golf experience for less than half the price.
