The food is amazing. I tried everything on the all you could eat menu. Catfish was warm and delicious crawdads were spicy as they should be color, greens and cornbread or all perfectly made too!!!

The place is in a strip mall. There was a band playing live music. Seemed like a good vibe to chill on a Friday night. We got our food to go. We sat at a table with our number waiting for our order, immediately asked if we wanted for dine in. We said no but where shiuld we stand and wait then. You order on a kiosk and the staff will help if needed. They have buffet which has limited options. I ordered the rib tips meal with collard greens and yams with an extra side of potato salad. The potato salad came out of tub or carton, the greens and yams are from a can. The rib tips were delicious but the sides were very disappointing. If I wanted canned , carton food I could have went to store and heated that up myself. The chicken was not seasoned at all, breaded and dropped straight into the oil with out any flavor. Really wanted to enjoy some soul food. But left feeling like I need to make my own to compensate for the disappointment. Not sure why the great reviews. Was looking forward to fresh made greens, potato Salad and yams. If you want thrown together soul food this is your place.

This is one of those hole in the wall places, located in a semi strip mall like area, that if you judge from the outside, you would never have stepped foot into. And shame on you, because that would have been an absolute loss on your end. Hands down, some of the best bbq. HANDS DOWN. Their dry rub has just the right amount of kick, salt and flavor. I opted for the rib tips--it has all the grisly, greasy, cartiledge bits that give the meat its umami. Seriously, excellent without any bbq sauce. I chose the potato salad and pineapple baked beans as my sides, but honestly neither of these were up my ally. The beans tasted very coffee like, and too sweet for me, and the potatoes were a little too creamy. Their fries are crispy and thick. I'll have to try their collard greens next time. They have a pretty expansive seafood menu too, and by the looks at others plates, their fried items looked amazing and fresh--I'll be going back soon to sample the seafood. So glad this place is such a short drive from my house...it's definitely going to be one of my neighborhood favorites.

This is an interesting place, for sure. Came in Friday night wanting to get some take-out, but there were post-it notes on the ordering kiosks saying carryout wasn't available. So, came in the next day on Saturday around 6PM and the place was about 1/3 full. Used the ordering kiosk to order a smattering of offerings. Took about 20 minutes to get the food. The bad: The ordering kiosk took quite a while and it had to try several times to connect to the payment screen. The pulled pork, pork burnt ends, and brisket were dry as a bone. And there were some bits of bone & gristle. Just not good enough for a city that prides itself on BBQ. The mozz sticks were pretty small and sad. The good: The chicken strips were fantastic. Great flavor, tasted fresh, and were perfectly fried. Fries were also fairly tasty. The shrimp/andouille/chicken/crab gumbo looked really good. And there was a good selection of condiments (although oddly no ranch). The ugly: I think that was a "first timer" mistake trip. The seafood, southern food, and fried foods appear to be the winners here. So this 3 star review is more of a "I need 2-3 more trips to figure out the menu".

It was fun restaurant to try out unfortunately we didn't expect our food to take an entire hour to cook. We were told that the owner/chef cooks everything to order which would amount to the time we arrived at 7:30pm got food at 8:30pm. Everything else was self serve on soda/water, paper products and ketchup. They have 4 ordering/paying machines like McDonalds. Menu prices were good, fish dinner w/2 sides for $16. Children dinners for $5. Desserts for $5-$8. Wanted to the red beans and rice but not for $15 an order. No liquor license yet but others brought their own liquor in to drink. No band playing tonight had a small setup in corner. Mixture of tables and table/booths, 4 large TV's on wall, & small room in back. Very clean. Would go back if we ordered in advance.

Amazing food!!! Went there thinking I'd get some good soul food and left realizing I've never had such amazing food in my life! The flavor and seasoning and char/ moisture on the meat and food is incredible.

Jonathan's creates the feel that it should be located on a lonely gravel road nestled in the tall pines of northern Louisiana; a true backwoods roadhouse vibe, even though it's located next to one of the busiest suburban intersections in the metro. Jonathan himself makes the visit a 5 star experience with his over the top genuine friendliness, his in depth explanation of his diverse menu, and the free samples of his product that he was generously offering to his customers. Not only was Jonathan excited to be showing off his dream, but the other 3 staff I encountered were just as customer-service oriented as him. Enthusiasm is definitely contagious. I ordered the ribs tip sandwich with fries for $8 and a side of pineapple baked beans for $3. The beans were very unique with chunks of pineapple adding a fruity sweetness, the crinkle cut fries were coated with parmesan and excellent dipped in the house made BBQ sauce. The ribs were extremely smoky and very tender. My only complaint is that with the amount of gristle in the tips that eating it as a sandwich was impossible. My friend ordered the sausage and shrimp sandwich had the same issue - tasty food, just hard to consume as a sandwich since it was piled high and nothing to hold the large pieces of meats together. I would love to return and dig deeper into the menu. This would be a great option for feeding a group or catering a party.

DANG I feel bad posting this. I saw the amazing reviews so we ordered takeout on a Wed night. My husband received an email stating our order would be ready at 5:26pm. He arrived about 5:35pm to find our order was nowhere near ready despite there being one table of 3 in the restaurant. The girl at the front desk was the only one even remotely apologetic, even 30 minutes later. 45 mins later, our order was ready, and it was never acknowledged by anyone that he was standing there all that time waiting. The man preparing the food acted annoyed when my husband inquired about it. So service was poor. The food wasn't much better. The ribs were grayish and tasted harshly smoked. Yes they were tender, but they had no flavor except for smoke. Everything had a thick black bark on it, including the chicken, pork burnt ends, and rib tips. My MIL said the chicken was really tender, but we all thought everything was overly smoked. We enjoyed their BBQ sauce, but actually needed it to cut some of the heavy smoke taste. We had an order of chicken tenders and fries...fries were soggy (maybe because they were takeout), but the tenders were nothing special. I had the shrimp boil. The corn was boiled to death, it was mushy. The shrimp had good flavor, but it tasted like what I make at home, so there's no way I'd pay $28 for it again. It was a lot of shrimp, but with 1 ear of mushy corn and 2 tiny potatoes...no thanks. Fried mushrooms were good! Those were the highlight. I had high hopes, and I love to support local businesses, but we won't be going back.
