I have been to Johnny's many times. Great place to get a beer & hang out with big or small groups. The servers are always great - never bad service. The roasted cauliflower is a favorite but the last few visits were charred to the point we sent it back. The wings are good, mango sauce is unique & tasty. The burgers are just meh. The chicken sandwich has too much breading & has been overcooked. The onion rings are a pass too, way overcooked & barely any onion - just breading. Could be the last few visits - I would go back & try again. Cooks rotate at these places - which would be good

The service was good and the vibe was good. I enjoyed the beer but the food was just okay. Chicken wings were a bit dry and the salad was okay.

Decent place in the Power & Light District to catch a game, have a beer and a burger, or bar type food. They were out of fried pickles, but the food came out quick and hot. Typical bar and grill decor and ambiance with fairly good service when not busy.

Definitely an after hours spot in KC with Power & Light!Had a craving for wings so this was a late night option..I'm a dry rub gal and they only had one option. At first bite it's directly on the chicken skin but no flavor past that. As I said after hours.. past 12 midnight who's still serving a bite! Not the the best option! I will say the wait staff is pleasant and on their toes!

We were in search of food on a Sunday night and most places in P&L were closed at 8pm. Then my friend suggested going to Johnny's! Great call! They were pretty crowded with people watching the game and it was a seat yourself so I was worried that service may be slower but they surprised us. Some came over to get our drink orders fairly quickly and the food came out hot and delicious. The burgers loaded and a good size. I got the Johnny Wilson with seasoned fries and was completely stuffed when I left. I will definitely be back the next I'm in the neighborhood!

We were told to sit in the Mezzanine and we would be served. That never happened. So we went to the bar and waited to order food and drinks for over 20 min. Still didn't get served. Bartender wouldn't even acknowledge us. Talk to the manager Mike and it seemed as if he couldn't help (cause he was singing on stage). Horrible! I will never return or recommend. Great music from Delynia Janell and friends, but unfortunately I couldn't enjoy because I was hungry.

Johnny's Tavern is always an easy place to go to. My fiance is part of the KC Gooners club and this is where they watch all of the games. The staff is so nice and it so attentive to this fam group. I've been a few times with my fiance and his friends and they are quick to tend to us and get our drink and food order in. The food is always solid and they have a lot of beer options. I recently tried their GF pizza and it was ok. Not the best but could have been worse. Their fries always hit the spot and their regular pizzas are surprisingly good. If you are looking for a good bar with lots and lots of TV's this place will for sure do the trick.

Garbage staff. Two servers both super rude. Wouldn't give them my money any day. I would be appalled if my staff acted like they did. Will never ever come here again. Ever.

We're from out of town and found Johnny's near our hotel to watch the Gator football game. What a fun time! It was packed mid-day with people watching college football - fun crowd. We were lucky to find an open table and the Gator game on several TVs.I'm a vegetarian and just loved the idea of the brussels and cauliflower with firecracker sauce. The veggies were very lightly fried, and the sauce was great. Perfect gameday snack. S had the chicken tenders, and we both loved that you could order a fry-onion ring combo as a side. Never seen that before! Drinks were good too! Everything reasonably priced for the venue. The service was fantastic. I realized this is a Kansas City thing after a few more days in town, but I was so confused at this first stop. A bar full of loud, drinking people and she was smiling, friendly, and genuine...something you don't usually see where we're from. WOW. Recommend this place for gameday or probably fun on a Friday night! We'll be going back if we're ever in KC again.

I happen to be an ' Original' Johnny's Tavern customer and I must say, it's for good reason. A recent visit to the Power & Light District further proves my point. I ordered the 78 Classic, why not? That's when this burger was birthed & where it all began, Lawrence, KS. my second home. It came out hot, but far from fresh! In fact, it was dried out looking with a sorry piece of American cheese laid on top. It was sooo horribly overcooked & thinner than I remember with an excessively large bun which was way too much bread (I ended up eating only one side of the bun). I was sorely disappointed, but Thank 'GOD' for onion rings...they were the best & did not disappoint as was the quesadilla with steak...fire baby & it halfway saved the day. Johnny's is known for its burgers so I was quite underwhelmed & saddened. A let-down for sure. The other locations around the KC metro including Overland Park don't hold a candle to the long time Lawrence spot & just a reminder that most all restaurants that have an 'Original' location pretty much remain 'The Best' when other locations open. The service was ok. It wasn't a ton of people there so our orders were taken quickly & we didn't have a long wait to receive our food. The atmosphere was pretty chilled. All in all it was a pleasant evening dining out, nonetheless I'm sticking to Lawrence, Ks. & that's my final answer. All other locations are One and Done honey, Bye!
