Johnny's Donuts should be a Kansas City staple. With affordable pricing and delicious treats this quick stop just can't be beat.We had wonderful service from the woman working at the window. She was attentive, thoughtful, and patient with those of us in line. The doughnuts oozed just the right about of grease and had a lovely balance of light but substantial dough. For two Long John's, a regular twist, and a cinnamon roll we payed $8.40. We walked away doughnuts in stow, content with our experience in the store. Although, the best experience was downing those doughnuts like there was no tomorrow. We can't wait to come back to try savory food like burgers and fries. We'll just have to remember to grab cash before we head over to Johnny's!

The donuts are pretty good! Very, very soft and squishy with lots of glaze. 6 glazed and 1 long John cost us about $13, which honestly seems like a lot for what we got. The woman at the counter also didn't say anything to us other than the total of our order, which was strange, but oh well. I'd recommend you stop and try them if you happen to be nearby!

When my Mom was at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza in 2019, I discovered this place. I was a little thrown by the cash only thing, but no biggie. I get it. Small businesses struggling to survive often can't afford the fees charged by the credit card companies. Same with the bulletproof glass I read some complaints about on here. I understand how they want to stay as safe as possible, and this seems like a reasonable remedy. So what if we're kinda yelling back and forth? It's part of the experience! Moving on... Johnny's classic glazed was the last donut my Mom had before her death, and she REALLY enjoyed it! I went there every morning to get her one when she was pronounced terminal. I wanted her to have a little deliciousness in what was left of her life. My son and I went there as a part of an homage after her passing. For that, despite being a fitness nut, I have remained a loyal customer who will make the trip from Lee's Summit specifically for Johnny's Donuts for my monthly "Cheat Meal." I love the classic glazed, and my husband loves the Long John. I've tried the cheeseburgers and fries, too, and they are mmm, mmm, good!!! My husband says the tenderloin sandwich is delish!!! 100% worth the drive into the city for a different and delicious experience! Don't be deterred by "the neighborhood" or the bulletproof glass. Like everywhere else in this world there are all kinds of people, mostly good, there. Stuff happens everywhere. The zip code should not be an automatic indictment of the establishment. This place ROCKS when you gotta get your donut on!

Wow! These are fantastic donuts. The smell of this place is heavenly. I also appreciate the precautions they are taking in regards to Covid-19. My husband is excited to come back and try some of the food items!EDIT: Husband had the donut cheeseburger and LOVED it. They've set up even more precautions for Covid with a sign at the door that says "no mask, no entry." The small space is limited to 4 people at a time. I'm really happy about this, probably the safest takeout business in the city. I'd give more than 5 stars if I could. My only wish is that they'd take cards, but I understand cash only for a small family business. Since they are limiting their space to 4 people at a time; Here's some good pictures of the menu to help you decide what you'd like before you get there .

This place by far has the best glazed donuts in K.C. The donuts have a slight crunch like every perfect glazed should, they have a nice pillowy fuff, and they have the right amont of sweetness without being too sweet. If you are a donut fanatic and want the best this city has to offer, this isbm definitely the place. They also have items like: burgers, catfish, chicken, and wings that are also very tasty.

I walked in, saw they only take cash. No biggie, theres an ATM nearby. I asked the price for 10 donuts, they told me 10.65. came back with $20.I asked the price for 12 donuts instead, was told $21.50. Doesn't make sense, but Whatever.Asked for 10 and she double checked what I asked for, but when I got home saw they only gave me 6. Should've listened to other reviews about being shorted. They act like drug sales. I'll never be back here.

Service is crappy. The food is pretty good. But, don't wanna spend my cash with them no more. Forgot my doughnuts, then shorted me 1. She caught an attitude and slammed my doughnut in the bag. Everytime I go, the customer service is crappy.
