Johnny's BBQ Restaurant & Catering

Johnny's has become very average over the last several years, they used to be quite good, but the key phrase here is "used to be". I don't know what has happened to change things, but the fact is he service was quite slow and that was just for starters.Having worked in restaurants as a teenager, a smile and attentiveness will help smooth things over, but apparently that rule is not taught here. we waited 20 minutes to get somebody to take our order and another 40 to receive it, then it was wrong. I looked at my buddy and said "Do you want to go through the ordering process again?" and he wasn't up for it, either..... about 15 minutes after this executive decision was made America's Sweetheart comes over and told us that we had the wrong food, in an accusatory tone. I told her that we'd been there an hour and we didn't feel like waiting. She looked pissed, but we managed to avoid arrest by the food police for "our" transgression.We left there with the thought that we will never be back, and that'll never happen again. BTW, we were there after the lunch rush, so this shouldn't have been a problem. And one rule about side dishes after lunch rush is to keep the stuff stirred, nobody really likes coagulated cheesy corn with a tough crust on top. And try to buy better ribs, people will pay more if the meat is top notch.

Overall the experience felt like going to the little brother version of Oklahoma Joes. The highlight of the meal was the mac and cheese! The ribs were dry and the sausage was cold. The flavors were almost there but they felt underdeveloped. The cheesy corn sat for too long under a heat lamp. Service was good.

Perfect for family dinner. We went for May's offer for a FREE kids meal with every entree purchased. My kids loved the food. We had plenty of leftovers, which makes this mama happy. Not to mention service was superb and they have an awesome patio and very cool indoor dining area. Such cute decor including vintage BBQ sauce bottles everywhere. A must try in KC!

Talk about some good bang for the buck......friendly service, burnt ends on point, spicy bbq sauce that was out of this world, and fries cooked to perfection! Definitely worth every penny of the deliciousness!

It had a good small town atmosphere and the service was very fast. The food was marginally above average but came in large portions and had great prices. The flavors of the meats were a little bland and could have been more distinct. This wouldn't be so much of an issue if they had more sauce offerings to combat it. Overall the quality wasn't impressive but the price makes it worthwhile.

Brisket was not dry and very good! Had the Thursday special and the ham was amazing! The ladies behind the counter were very nice and up front and I can appreciate that. The restaurant is a BBQ restaurant so exactly what I was expecting! Thanks for the great service and food. We will be back when I'm back in town.

Met up with old friends here for lunch. None of us have ever been here. A pleasant and filling surprise. Burnt end, brisket, beans, fries and onion rings. All excellent. Wish I lived closer. Definitely worth checking out this spot. Lunch specials and a patio that was dog friendly!Service was great. Order at the counter.

Pretty good bbq. I don't care for the sauce. They have a fast system so you don't wait too long for your food.

The food is quite good. Service and atmosphere is pure BBQ!My only poor experience was not inspecting a "to go " slab of ribs. Opening the aluminum cover for our party revealed a slab so overcooked and black a guest said, " Well it isn't the worst I've ever seen!". What a disappointment. Next day, went to restaurant and told them and could I just have a good slab. No, she pressed the cook and offered a half price card. No, always inspect the takeaways.

This is what I received in my online order from Johnny's so burnt and dry And it looked like jerky called the store and they offered to replace if I return it. I asked for discount. The manager explained that there is no discount and she could not refund because I ordered online.I spent 40 minutes driving and $50 .I suggested she offer me a complimentary food item and she turned with no response and walked away ..Worst service ever and very poor quality food. I won't be going to Johnny's ever again.
