Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que

One of the top three places to get barbecue in Kansas City - and also on Anthony Bourdain's list of Top Places in the World you must eat before you die! Stopped by around 11:30 am for lunch with a colleague. We snagged the last parking spot and headed inside, where we stood in a long line for about 15 minutes before ordering our food at the counter. He ordered a Z-man sandwich, and I opted for a Rib and Burnt End dinner, served with Texas toast and a side of corn. The food arrived even as we paid the bill, and we found a table to enjoy it at. While he happily dug into his Z-man, I took a tentative bite of my first ever burnt end! It was small and charred, but surprisingly juicy and flavorful - and I was hooked! I savored every last morsel (there were about 15 burnt ends) - trying some with the spicy barbecue sauce on our table, and some with the regular one. My favorite way to eat it was without any sauce. Then I turned my attention to the ribs - which were a bit overdone and needed large helpings of barbecue - and the side of corn, which I enjoyed. We chatted away about work and family, and when a waitress stopped by to clear our plates and trays, it was past 1 pm, and the place was emptying out as people drove back to work. As we drove away, I resolved to return before long to try my new favorite - the burnt end!

Super Bowl busy indeed but this location still got orders taken and out the door before closing! So grateful!Ribs-Meat dinner which has ribs and your choice of another meat.. I asked for an alternate pulled chicken and the manager kindly obliged. The ribs was smoky flavored and meaty.. not fatty at all. The pulled chicken portion was less than I hoped for but the chicken served its purpose. My fries were golden and sprinkled with Joes seasoning. I was satisfied.

Best BBQ in town! My favorite thing on the menu is the burnt ends but the tried the Smoky joe sandwich I really enjoyed it as well. Service is always efficient with the lines being so long, it helps. The atmosphere is casual and you order at the front then go find your seat. I prefer this location to the original due to the space. I also love that they sell barbecue by the pound. Very convenient for a big group.

This was my first Joe's KC BBQ experience, and this location did not disappoint! Even going at the height of the lunch rush, I was pleasantly surprised to see how quickly my group of three was taken care of. The food was absolutely delicious and was easily some of the best bbq I've had in Kansas City. Even though the restaurant was busy, I wouldn't think twice next time I wanted to visit. The restaurant has a classic rustic look and feel to it. To order, you stand in line, place your orders, and then pick them up down the counter. Since it was bustling when I went there, someone directed us to an empty table, but that was it. There was no fuss, and the food came out extremely fast and hot. Recommend for a KC BBQ experience!

Yum, yum, yum! Kansas City BBQ at its finest! Be prepared to wait in line...knowing it is worth the wait!! Our table split some fries (a MUST...the seasoning is unbelievably good!), beans (good flavor), and spicy slaw (was a meh). Three of us got a Z Man sandwich and RAVED about it, and I got the rocket pig (pulled pork sandwich in a spicy sweet glaze, fried jalapeños, bacon, and pepperjack). The rocket pig is one of the best things I've ever eaten! Grab yourself a garage beer and some bbq and enjoy!!

I used to eat here very often when working out south, but it's been a year plus since I'd been. Prices definitely went up, but that was about the only change. The Zman was great as usual--got the brisket version that includes provolone and onions rings. The jumbo version has more meat on it, but not sure it's really worth the additional charge. The fries are always amazing. We did try the Gouda Mac n cheese and it was pretty decent, but the price/size are not close to what it should be for the price. We paid $.90 extra, so nearly $8 to upgrade to the cup size for 2. The cup size should be the smallest for sure, very small portion. Nice facilities and nice staff. No wait midday, but very busy at lunch and dinner still I'm sure. Pepsi products are a big plus here for me too.

Brought Joes KC BBQ home for the Chiefs game! As we walked inside to pick up our food, inside of the place is nice! For ordering, and sitting, lines were long, stretching to the outside, even the pick up area was busy, but they were still accommodating! We had 2 slabs of ribs, burnt ends, Z-man, fries, onion rings. All of them were delicious! If you live here or just visiting, this place is a must visit!

The food here is the star of the show! Let me tell you that the food here is AMAZING! KC BBQ just hits different and these guys are doing right. Nothing fancy with service as you oder at the counter and pick it up yourself. The place is nice and lots of room as it does get busy at times. Also, good BBQ is not chump change either so be ready to spend some dough for great BBQ.

Amazing Barbeque! The fries were great too. I got a half slab of the small end ribs and could not believe how big a half slab was! I could only eat 3 bones, so shared the rest. So sad I could take the rest for left overs but was traveling and couldn't warm them up in the hotel.It was busy. We waited in line for about 40 minutes to get to the counter to order, but the food came right out. So no worries there. I want more of Joe's KC BBQ!

Joe's is one of my favorite BBQ spots. I typically come to this location. The Z-man is by far my favorite sandwich. For sides, I enjoy their fries and onion rings. We share the sides between 2 people as the portions are usually large amounts. While there is almost always a line when I go, the staff takes orders very quickly and I rarely have a long wait. I always recommend Joe's to anyone looking for BBQ and I will continue to return!
