Obsessed with Jim's Alley Bar. To the point I went there twice when it was closed (scheduled closures) and still went a third time to finally get in. We had the Chicago beef, a local beer and some smooth tunes. All were worth the wait.

Jim's Alley Bar is truly Kansas City's worst kept secret! This cozy spot feels like a small-town diner that's been modernized just enough to keep things fresh and inviting. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, perfect for regulars and newcomers alike. You'll absolutely fall in love with Jim and his food! I couldn't resist trying the Taylor ham sandwich, being from New Jersey, and it did not disappoint. The flavors were spot on.Finding the entrance is half the adventure--good luck locating it down the alley! But trust me, it's well worth the hunt. If you're looking for a unique dining experience that feels like home, Jim's Alley Bar is the place to go!

Loved this place! Got the Reuben with a side of hash. Want to go back and try the club next time. Do not remember the name of the people who served us/were working-bartender and 1 waitress, but they were both helpful and easy to talk to. Smaller area but very clean and loved the overall feel of the place. Definitely recommend and will be back. Note-the sign that states their hours also recommends calling ahead for larger groups due to the size of the place if I remember correctly.

My kind of place! Jim's is quaint and does a great job of making a newer place feel like it's from the 70s. The shuffleboard table is the cherry on top. Marketing and branding for Jim's is spot on -- I mean talk about an awesome logo. This place passes all the vibes checks. I wish I still lived in Crossroads because I would 100% be a regular. Cheers, Jim!

I really wish I lived closer to downtown KC...this was one of my favorite places I've visited lately! My boyfriend and I occasionally get out and have a night of "places we've never been". We went on a Friday afternoon, and this was a very pleasant surprise! I read the reviews and knew that the entry was in the alley, but because of the artistic painting (graffiti) camouflaged it REALLY well! I was dressed up for dinner (heels, fishnet hose, furry coat...you get the idea), wandering down the back alley in KC. It was a bit humorous! Once I found the door, I was so happy we checked it out. It's a small dive bar, with a small menu (the pretzels were amazing), cocktails were great and service was very friendly and local KC. This will be a place I take people from out of town for sure!

It's hard to describe this place, but I'm going with: classy dive bar.But maybe not in the way you are thinking. It's not like this is is a dingy bar that's desperately trying to appeal to a hip crowd. This is more a bar that's been around forever, doing the same thing, and now that thing they are doing has become hip. This is the type of bar your Uncle from Wisconsin goes to, where everyone knows his name. They have some strong cocktails and only two beers on tap (however both of them, an IPA and a lager, are both from the amazing Alma Mader Brewing: https://www.yelp.com/biz/alma-mader-brewing-kansas-city-2?sort_by=date_desc)The service, is the best. *I* feel like a local, and I've only been here once! They just really make you feel like...a friend. The bartender, George, made it a point to remember my name and so I remember his!PRO TIP: this place is real hard to find, it's an unmarked door in an alley. When I was there, it had a big Wolverine image on it.

It's been said in reviews before, but it's worth saying again, Jim's Alley Bar is a near perfect little gem in the Crossroads. It somehow manages to ooze coolness while staying somewhat unpretentious. I have a standing happy hour with some good friends each month and someone recommended Jim's Alley Bar. The only negative thing I can say is that when I arrived I had a hell of a time finding it. I should have just followed the arrow but alas I did have to text a friend to find the door (am I just getting old?) hard to say. If you're confused just turn into the alley, hence the name. You'll find the door on the right - it's very easy to miss but trust me, it's there. Upon entering it had a kind of warmth that usually comes from a neighborhood bar, but unlike most dives, this one was a bit cleaner, and bit fancier in terms of beers and cocktails offered. We all had a really wonderful time catching up and were well taken care of by the bartender working that evening. Honestly even the appetizers we shared were really great for bar food. I'm excited to bring my husband here in the future as I think this place will be right up his alley - see what I did there?

This is a great place to enjoy great food, served by great staff in a cool retro setting. I had Jim's beef, spicy and wet as suggested by the waiter, and it was a home run. I chose the pasta salad for my side, and it was perfect. They have a nice selection of beer in cans or bottles. Other mixed drinks are available.Everything about this place is just a cool vibe. I can't wait to go back!
