Jerusalem Cafe -Independence

The first time we came here it was phenomenal. The second time was just as good. The falafel, although I'm not an expert In tasting it or eating it. I can say this. It had a crispy exterior with the inside being tender, moist, and flavorful. The fresh hummus, inside the pita and the Tzatziki sauce. Thinking about it right now is making me hungry at 6:39 am of writing this lol My wife had the gyro. Which I had a bite of. The pita bread was fluffy and had mw begging my wife for another bite...I take big bites so she had to say no lol The French fries were fresh and crispy but we went there for the falafel lol The staff is friendly and they always seem to have your best interest at heart. The restrooms are clean. There always seems to be a nice friendly ambience here with people casually gathering for food. It feels like a nice family dining place. Even though it's not a sit down restaurant. It has electrical sockets to charge your phones inside. Cool luxury. I will come back again and again. Thank you chef and the Staff!

Turkish Coffee is the best I have had outside of the Middle East.Also, the best Hummus in the Kansas City area.

We ordered our "food to go" and everything we ordered was prepared, delicious and ready to takeaway as promised. Sadly, Google Maps sent us inaccurate directions - so that's on them, not the wonderful restaurant. Since we ate our dinner at my son's house, I cannot comment on the interior of the restaurant. But it was darned good food and plenty of it. As a former CA governor once said - - sort of - - "Veal Be Back!!"

Food is huge portions. Kids menu is kid approved. Lemonade is huge and awesome. Casual atmosphere and very family friendly.

Good food; great value. Got the beef shawarma sandwich with fries and Caesar salad. Food came quick and the portions were great! Nice music and definitely recently updated so eating inside was nice! Highly recommend before any hockey game at Cable Dahmer Stadium. We will be back!

Back home our local Greek place went out of business because the owners retired. So I've been craving a gyro and happened to be working nearby so I stopped in for lunch. Got the gyro with Cajun fries and Greek salad. Fries were the only ok portion of the meal. The gyro and Greek salad were great. The gyro meat was so flavorful, veggies were crispy, the sauce was just right amount of creamy and just a touch of tart. Pita was fluffy and soft. Enjoyed it very much and the staff was friendly and helpful. Next time I'll go for rice instead of fries. Definitely will be back

We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed a delightful surprise in a tasty Dill chicken sandwich with Cajun fries, lentil soup and baklava for dessert. Great food, very clean place with plenty room and friendly service. Prices are very reasonable too. Definitely will go there again .

This is a fun vegetarian friendly stop in Independence with one of the largest lemonades I have ever had- and it was SOOOOO GOOD. The merch is cheeky and funny! The food was amazing! I got the vegetarian platter with spinach pie, falafel, grape leaves, hummus and the lentil soup and saffron rice! I also ordered rice pudding for dessert too. Not only were the portions more than generous, the staff was so accommodating answering my questions and making sure all the food was vegetarian friendly that I ordered! It's a great stop for fresh and healthy mediterranean flavorful food.

The staff, especially Manny, was absolutely incredible. They treated us like family, patiently explaining menu items, recommending dishes, and sharing stories about Israeli traditions. It was like a warm, gooey hug for my soul. The sweet potato was perfectly caramelized, and the honey added the perfect touch of sweetness. It was the perfect way to end a perfect meal. We had tried the Westport location and thought it was good but not great - but the Yelp reviews convinced us to give the Independence location a go. So glad we did ! Really great hummus / babba appetizer plate with hot, soft pita to start things out. Had a variety of options and all were delicious. The gyros, the kabobs, the sides - all totally great. The hot tea was nice, the Turkish coffee a bit stronger than we'd normally like but still enjoyable. If you're in Independence, it's definitely worth a visit to Jerusalem Cafe !
