This has been my go to venue for seeing local music and drag shows. It's kinda hidden away since it's exclusively an upstairs bar. You can enter off mass street or in the back alley. I absolutely love the aesthetic and all the cool art throughout the venue. I also love how cheap the drinks are compared to other bars nearby. I cannot recommend this place enough, a hidden gem in LFK. Please show your support!!

Hillbilly Food Critic Review:Location: 5/5Atmosphere: 5/5Food: NAPrice: 4/5Come during the big band night. Great music. Definitely check this place out. I'm sure you walked past it many times and didn't realize it. The website sucks and so does the fact all the tables and chairs are fixed to the floor..... and bartenders are slow. Other than that, great place.

Jazzhaus is the very first nightclub I went to on my first visit to Lawrence in September 08, so it holds a bit of a soft spot in my heart! The K brought me here on one of our first dates, and local rockabilly faves, the Rumblejetts were playing.I was charmed by it all--the boy, the band, the bar...and the banquets (*there* I got one more in!). Jazzhaus has a sweet seating set-up (damn, I'm an alliteration dynamo tonight. I can't be stopped!) and has a divey cabaret feeling about it. I could have sworn I was in Greenwich Village circa 1955 in the infamous "Bucket of Blood" (some of you will get the reference). *Oh yeah* Daddy-o.

I went here so see drag and some were definitely better than others. It kind of looked like some of the queens were doing rehearsal rather than actually performing. But I love that this provides a venue for people to get together, perform, and laugh. Not every place offers an outlet for drag so I'm thankful but I've definitely seen better performers in KC and bigger cities. The bar has a laid back attitude. The drinks are cheap. It's a fun place but I don't think I'll be a regular.

Disgusted after having a group of people come in and give this place business and having a good time singing that one of the coworkers manning the karaoke told us we all sucked and that our group is a piece of sh*t. Drinks are small and overpriced, but the karaoke was fun except all the people who work there are rude and terrible. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

In order to get to this bar, you come in through a door from the sidewalk and you are greeted with an unfortunate number of stairs, once you climb those stairs, go to your immediate left. That's where the bouncer will greet you and take you cover (it varies, but is NEVER over $5. a lot of the time, women get in free, duh). To the right of the stairs is your new best friend: the ATM. This bar is awesome. There are so many events and they even hold theme parties (it's the sorority girl in me, I can't help it, I live for themed-parties).It has cute intimate seating. Sweet little candles softly glowing on each table. On Mondays (karaoke) the hosts are great and hilarious and keep you in the game. I've yet to have one bad experience here.IT IS A CASH BAR! If you do forget, though, there's an ATM right outside of their door. Little useful tip: the bathrooms are in the very back of the room to the right; there are 2 girl's bathrooms and one dude's. It pays to be a lady.I highly recommend going here, especially on Mondays. It does get a bit crowded and with the tables being quite close together, you get to know your neighbor very well, like, butt to the head well. If you're careful, though, it's fine, and you know when you sit down what you're in for, so does everyone else. I've yet to experience a bad or gropey crowd here.

The place is super niche, unique and Lawrence. The crowd is a good mix of underage individuals, 20s aged individuals, then old wanna be sugar daddies who really just are middle classed males who wanna drink beer and vibe. They have really cheap prices and cover is anywhere between 0-5$ depending who you are and if you wear a costume (either way reasonable). They have a variety of themed nights from Drag Nights to Karaoke. I think the age was 18+ for drag nights but they were giving 18-21 year old freshman college students free tequila shots shot out of a super soaker by a drag KING. I can't make this shit up and now it's 21 plus lol. The only concerning part is that the place does not accept card so not even sure they file taxes and when you give a tip they act like it's 100$ when really it's just a normal 20% tip so I think the workers are severely underpaid and under appreciated. The owner is this skinny middle aged white woman who is wasted and dancing on the wannabe sugar daddies but she's here for a good time not a long time lmao. Super cool place to check out! Have fun!
