Jack Stack Barbecue on Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, Kansas, is a standout destination for barbecue enthusiasts. Known for its extensive menu and inviting atmosphere, it offers a memorable dining experience for both families and individuals.Burnt Ends: A highlight of their menu, the burnt ends are a must-try. These flavorful pieces of meat are smoked to perfection, offering a rich and tender taste that barbecue lovers cherish. Sat at the bar, but that's not an excuse for bad service. We ordered a combo of brisket and ribs. The ribs were good but the smallest I've seen served for the price. Also, the brisket was very fatty and thin. Had a grey color. The beans were excellent and the Coleslaw was good. We were ignored by our servers for at least 20 minutes after our meal was finished. So disappointed as this was a favorite when we lived here in KC. Things have changed.

Jack Stack is one of the top bbq spots in KC. They are consistent in their food and service. On my last visit, I ordered online. It's easy and quick. When you arrive, you can pull into a designated spot, use the text they send to let them know you've arrived and what spot you're in and they'll bring it right out. I pretty much order the exact same thing every time I go. The fried mushrooms are a must. They're big and served with a horseradish sauce. They have different size options-3,6, or 9. I almost always order the jumbo sandwich with brisket and sausage. It's about a half pound of meat and it comes with a side. This ends up being about two meals for me. The brisket is good, not the best in KC but it's still up there. The sausage is sliced thin, which I like because it makes it easier to eat. You can get whatever meat you'd like and they do have other options. The side is a large one of your choice but I like to sub it out for two smaller sides. I'm super picky about bbq beans and theirs are my fa favorite so I have to get those. I'm also a fan of the cheesy corn so that's a must too. They have multiple locations and the interior is always nice and clean with great service.

Just passing through town, we were lucky to catch them 30 minutes before closing. It was a busy night, I was dreaming of burnt ends but they were out by the late hour we arrived. Even so we enjoyed back ribs, chicken, beans, cheesy corn, and fries, all were excellent. High marks for menu, service, ambiance, parking and all the other things we tend to take for granted. I moved from KC over 30 years ago but am always happy to be able to get back for Jack Stack bbq... (it was late, phone battery was dead, sorry no pics...)

This is an essential BBQ restaurant in the area. And by essential, I mean if you like BBQ, and you are in the area, then it is essential that you stop here. It is a solid entry in the KC BBQ landscape (jack stack is overall in the top 5), with an upscale cloth napkin feel. Sure, you might get a little full on the stack of thick onion rings, or giant fried mushrooms. But you will find space for their delicious BBQ meats! Two types of sauce (regular or spicy) are available in little ramekins at the table, and plenty more on request. I prefer the spicy, myself. The service is attentive and friendly. You will get good service whether you are there on a date or meeting your entire family at a long table in the side room.

We went to Jack Stack on a Sunday early evening to celebrate our anniversary. They weren't crowded at all and we had a great server. We ended getting the barbecue for two which had sausage, burnt ends, and pork. One of the things I really like about the barbecue for two is that you get three sides! We had the coleslaw, baked beans and cheesy corn. Jack Stack is the original cheesy corn and it is so yummy. The other thing I appreciate is their beans because they have brisket pieces mixed in. Hands-down, the best baked beans in Kansas City! Their coleslaw is also solid. Before we had the barbecue, we had their appetizer of six fried mushrooms. They were the best fried mushrooms I ever had, and they were huge. Sometimes when I eat fried mushrooms, they are too juicy, but theirs were very meaty. In the past, I have had Jack Stack's onion rings, and they are famous for their size and how they stack them, but the mushrooms are a new favorite . We ended our celebration by getting a brownie with a scoop of ice cream. It was very decadent, chocolatey, and the serving size was huge. Highly recommend!!

One of my favorite places! Their barbeque is the best in KC but they also have some of the best seafood I've ever had anywhere! Their shrimp kabob is to die for! The funny thing is that I told a friend who was visiting from San Francisco about their seafood and he laughed! I got the last laugh as he said it was the best he ever had and went home and told all his friends plus bought all the sauce he could fit on his plane!

Food - consistently greatService - consistently goodAmbiance - like a dark and special steak house even somewhat @ the bar.on 9/1/24 "had" to go as a plan B, after not wanting to wait for 45 minutes at Broken Egg with only like 2 servers staffed.Only needed a "small meal" and Burnt Ends and Beans (including a few pickle slices, regular and spicy sauces) DE-LIVE-ERD !!!Burnt ends were nicely cooked to the point that they were falling apart like a perfectly done rib. These beans, literally changed my view on baked beans. Used to NOT like baked beans years ago (and younger), one bite of these, with the drippings of the other bbq meats here (and every JS locations) it's like candy to a baby once they hit your taste buds, tongue, "jow-uhls" and other mouthy regions/parts.ANY Jack stack location, any time they're open, hands down my craving for their beans goes up upon entry.Between the B..ends and the beans, my stomach was full and happy quickly!

I am a long-time Jack Stack lover! Have consumer A LOT of beef ribs and other wonderful BBQ at Freight House location. Tonight was first trip to the Overland Park location. Firstly, a really big store with lots of seating and the typical Jack Stack up-scale BBQ vibe. Server was great, although bar service was really slow on a crowded night. Drinks took 15-20 min, but that is not a big deal to me.Food was mostly disappointing. Jack Stack Lamb Ribs are a favorite of mine, and these were not good tonight -- waaaay overcooked and (very surprisingly) under-seasoned. My brisket was super fatty (poorly trimmed) and poorly sliced (half of it with the grain of the meat). Now, you might say, "Tim, you just got some point in there, so it was fatty and with the grain." No, it was all flat, just haphazardly trimmed and sliced.Let me get more positive! All my colleague got the burnt ends and reported they were as good as ever!Summary: Good service, Good ambiance, hit and miss BBQ, at least relative to the high expectations I have for Jack Stack. Jack Stack is definitely slipping from my upper echelons of KC BBQ places.

Perfect meal before a MNF Chiefs Game!!! The delicious aroma hits as you walk thru the door. Our waitress was knowledgeable, friendly and let us split our appetizer amongst fried mushrooms w/horseradish sauce and onion rings. Both of our meals were delicious and their beans are over the top. I'm a bbq snob, but I'll gladly come back here next time I'm in town.
