J Gilbert's Wood-Fired Steaks & Seafood

J. Gilberts has been well known steakhouse for years and they still do it right. We had a reservation at 5:15 on Saturday and the place was already noticeably busy. That didn't matter because our waiter was on top of it. We were greeted shortly after sitting down. Our waiter brought us waters while we looked through the drink menu. We ordered wine that was suggested by our waiter. It was good and paired nicely with the food and ambiance. They give you delicious bread and whipped butter. Our waiter offered us more after we devoured the first loaf. It was great not having to ask if it was okay to have another.Food was delicious. Nicely seasoned throughout each component. Lobster was cooked perfect. It had a delicate texture and tasty seasoning on the outside. The steak was also cooked perfect to medium rare. The char on the outside was delicious and made for pleasant presentation.The sides were not the star of the show and I liked that. But they were still great. The mushrooms were tasty-- the truffle really showed up.I would like to try the lobster mac and cheese next time I come.This is a great place for a date because it is dark and candle lit at each table. Service was quick and their ambiance was very pleasant. We will be back!

I typically love J Gilbert's especially for a special occasion. We went tonight for my birthday and beginning of KC restaurant week. Typically this restaurant has top tier everything but tonight it was sadly off. Service was non existent and not very helpful. We felt rushed by our bill arriving with still half a bottle wine still to finish and full desserts.Sides were precooked and seemed like they had been sitting under the warmer for quite some time. When we got to dessert, some of the ice creams severed along with he velvet chocolate cake were melted by the time they made to our table.I honestly don't like writing this review but if this was my first experience I would not be back.

We had friends in from out of town, and so we decided to take them to J Gilberts. We had a reservation, so when we arrived, we were immediately seated. Our waitress was incredible, and did a great job answering questions, and even taking pictures for us.Two of us had the lavender drop martini while we were waiting for food. They were amazing!For dinner, three of us had steak, and I had the seafood mixed grill. I'm pretty sure all four of us ate everything on our plates. It was just so good! We also share a great bottle of wine.The ambience at J Gilberts was perfect for allowing us to have a relaxing meal and catch up with old friends we had not seen in a while.Overall, this was a wonderful 5 star visit!

Wonderful experience for a valentines date night I got the price fixe filet and he got the ribeye. It was delicious. Our server was wonderful and we couldn't have asked for a better night.

Our experience at J. Gilbert's was extremely good. Thanks to Matthew for all the suggestions! There wasn't a single suggestion that I felt steered me wrong. I would highly suggest visiting this restaurant!

We had a very nice time dining here. They have a great happy hour menu to start you off. Service was quick and informative. We went for the prie fix menu and it did not disappoint.

The food and services were very good. I love the dim lights, and the romantic vibes . I really enjoyed myself. The food was amazingly delicious!!

We had dinner here for my fiancé's birthday and man was it pretty perfect. We were greeted quickly, bread and starters arrived very quickly and man, their crab bisque was perfect; "Creamy but bright" is a direct quote from my fiancé! His lamb and my scallops were cooked perfectly and the dishes were very well balanced. The crème brûlée could have had a crispier top by the flavor and texture were spot on. Neither of us had been in years and now we can't wait to come back! Great food, mellow atmosphere and amazing service (not only our server but managers popping in to check on things). We look forward to our next night out!

Everything was absolutely amazing!! Food, ambiance, service- all top notch! Mei Li was our server and she went above and beyond to make sure we were all taken care of and I was having a great bday!

We just really enjoyed a wonderful dinner. J Gilberts has delicious food, great ambiance and outstanding service. Speaking of service Ash is an outstanding waiter very professional and kind. Ash really knows the finesse of a first class waiter. We will be back soon!
