Ixtapa Fine Mexican Cuisine in the greater Kansas City area is one of the top spots to enjoy an authentic and vibrant dish. The owner takes great pride in the dishes that are served. He puts an emphasis on three things: less grease, less cheese, less fried....exactly as it is in Mexico. The ceviche cucumber boats are loaded with fresh ingredients and flavorful spices. My favorite dish is the enmolodos: soft hand-made tortillas layered with chicken, mole sauce, and Mexican cactus. You also must try the Quesadillas De Flor De Calabaza: sauteed squash blossom served with melted cheese, then topped with guacamole & sour cream. Add this to your list of Top Eats in Kansas City! Excellent service. Clean interior. All around a great experience.

Bland bland bland......I ordered the 3 Enchiladas combo, I could not taste the difference between any of them, watery, absolutely no seasoning, all the contents tasted like canned generic mush.The rice tasted stale, also bland, and looked like it was scooped out of a bucket that had been prepped and sitting for a week.The black beans were also flavorless.My other half had the combo plate, a stale taco shell with the same flavorless meat, a sad enchilada with what might have been chicken and a carnitas tamale with oddly glistening pork that remained flavorless like everything else, yet had a sickening after taste.Very disappointing, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.

I have never left a review but often frequented your metcalf location. Well last night i took my family there to see you closing. I gave you a hug, although we had never met. I am heart broken because your food is honestly the best Mexican food i had ever eaten. May i suggest a southwest blvd location because you put ALL of them to shame and i live close, but i will now drive the extra miles to your northland location. Everyone needs to eat here.

Service kinda slow. Food was good. Salsa was kinda runny, it's usually not like that. Server didn't seem to understand drink order. Someone who spoke better English had to come over and talk to us. Took like 10 mins got someone to come back and take our payment. It's a really small restaurant. They seem busy a lot but maybe they need 1 more server?

First time here, and the service was great! Friendly and attentive. The menu was extensive and very easy to browse by category of protein you'd like to eat. The chips were fresh and the salsa, although was thinner than we are used to, was fantastic! The food was OK. My husband ordered the tamales and I ordered some steak tacos and shrimp cocktail. There was nothing wrong with the food, it was good- just not the best we've had. I would definitely come back and try another dish, another time.

I was hoping to find a gem with the reviews that I saw, wanted a good meal before heading to the airport. Got the exact opposite. The service was friendly, but it was the worst margarita I've ever had. Just tasted like marg mix. The food was extremely bland and the meat was dry. The tamale had a small amount of dried up meat in it and was just all mush after that. The salsa is the only thing that I would give a passing review for. With the competitive food market in KC, I would pass on this one. There was no one in there when I walked in at 11:45am on a Saturday, that probably should have been a sign.

So, long story short. My Army friend is a truck driver, loves mexican food was coming thru and wanted to meet up. My wife and I have been driving past this place on our way to a friend's house for a long time and My wife was always like, "I hear lots of great things about there!" I immediately said, "Let's take him there." So....we did. And I will forever be changed!!!!!!!!!!!So, my wife and I go to Mexico a LOT. So, we are picky about what mexican restaurants we go to. Well, this is an amazing spot!!! It's not your typical faire, though. We all loved the Fundido dip. It's Chihuahua cheese, mushroom, onions and LOTS of flavor. So good! She got the chicken mole and was in heaven. My friend got the shrimp tacos and said it was THE best shrimp tacos he has ever had...and he drives around the country for a living.I just discovered that there is one in Overland Park too, YAY!!!!!

The service was seriously some of the best that I have received. They were absolutely on top of our water refills and the chips and salsa. Both were super yummy! The chips came out warm. I absolutelyyyy loved my dish! It was sooo good. (Even good as leftovers the next day!) My boyfriend enjoyed his dish as well (I loved the guacamole but could have used a little salt and lemon). The prices are a little higher than I'm used to but the dishes were pretty good and not just a burrito. So I'm not really mad about that. The inside was a great temperature. There is booths and tables.We will definitely be back!
