Good selection, but not amazing- no packets of Piña Colada mix for example- what the heck?! The cashiers could be a little more engaging, but if you just need to run in for something, it's great- very well organized. Nice array of $1 airplane size bottles up at the front- fun to test out something new.

This is one of my favorite liquor stores in the KC area. I've found them to be extremely friendly, helpful and have the best selection time after time.Have you ever been popped into a dark, dank liquor store that has bars on the windows and wondered, "What the hell am I doing here?" That is definitely not the case at Hy-Vee! It looks a lot like their grocery stores but for booze. The layout is perfect - I always make my way to the back wall full of various craft brews. They separate these from the easy drinking summer beers like Miller Lite, which have their own separate case. I love the long slow walk back and forth by the craft beer wall as I pick out a weekend sixer. The wine is laid out by region and by style, which makes it really manageable to figure out what bottle of not-too-cheap/not-too-pricy bottle I'm going to pick up. For real though, the people here are always the best. I used to live closeby and while I didn't go in that often, they still seem to recognized me and always make conversation. One knock (that's not their fault) is the parking lot here can be a zoo, especially if a beer delivery truck is taking up half the lot. You've got several other shops in this little strip, and people completely forget how to drive here. Multiple cars back out at the same time causing gridlocks, and it can be hell to try to head south on State Line road once you're in here. Just a heads up.I really wish they had more locations all around, but in the meantime I'll always go here if I'm nearby.

A nice liquor store with a pretty great selection and often the things you can't find just anywhere. This is a good location to go for specialty items. Boulevard special releases, Rieger Whiskey, yup they have them. Don't run all over town. They also have great sales. Service is that HyVee helpful smile I grew up with. What else do you want from a liquor store?

My go-to liquor store when I'm wanting something very specific. Extensive craft beer selection and I always find something new I've never seen before. They have a solid offering of mixers and or snacks for whatever adventure you're going on. Easy parking lot, friendly staff.

This is hands-down this is the best liquor store in Kansas City that I have had the pleasure of visiting! The selection at the store is extremely thorough and wide-ranging from the many Boulevard microbrews, to smaller breweries located throughout the United States (i.e. the brewery that makes "Not Your Fathers Root Beer"), to a full selection of all the largest beer brands, both domestic and imported, and we have not even mentioned the wine selection yet! As I am not a wine connoisseur, this review will focus on the service and the selection of the beer at this location. At my last visit to the store, I was purchasing a few gifts for Christmas. One gift that I wanted to purchase and give was the beer that I mentioned above, "Not Your Fathers Root Beer". Now allow me a second to talk about this beer: I had my first few glasses in Chicago roughly a year ago in a Gastropub where the server who suggested that I try it also warned me that I should be careful of this particular beer because it tastes exactly like root beer yet has a high ABV percentage. Readers and root beer drinkers alike can obviously see how that could be quite dangerous! Yes it is true, after two glasses I was starting to feel somewhat druken, perhaps a little too much! I had been searching liquor stores for this beer for a long time, since I had last tasted it in that Gastropub in Chicago. What do you know? This Hy-Vee liquor store has such an amazing selection of beer that this beer was in abundance on its shelves. This same day that I was purchasing these presents the store was extremely busy, seeing as it was Christmas time. When I needed a clerk to come help me retrieve some additional beer from the back he had no problem whatsoever doing so and was exceptionally professional about it! Truly service with a smile! In the future, if I ever need any beer, wine, and/or liquor (especially if it's a difficult to find brand) I will most certainly and without a doubt be going to the Hy-Vee liquor store on Stateline!

I used to be more of a Gomer's customer up the street and only go to HyVee occasionally, until I realized how good of a selection of craft beer HyVee has. The beer selection at HyVee Wine and Spirits is great. You can pick your standard go to beers in various size packages and then you can pick from the wide selection of craft beers. Most all of the local breweries can be found in the beer section. Then its always nice to cool down and walk into the beer cooler.

It's baffling and a bit annoying that grocery stores in Kansas do not sell liquor. Maybe I make too much of it, but there are times when I really miss my days of one stop shopping for such staples as milk, bread and booze. That said, I don't know if this Hy-Vee in Prairie Village planned the placement of their liquor store across State Line Road in the much more liquor friendly Missouri, or if it was an afterthought. But I do know that what they have is as good as a Kansas grocer can hope to offer. This store is better stocked with selections of wine and liquor than most in the Kansas City area, and they are always having sales. They also have one of the best beer selections I've seen in this area and certainly the best north of 135th. The staff are always helpful and quick to answer questions or offer advice (about their product, not your drinking habits). As an added bonus, purchases from the liquor store will net you discounts at their gas station across the street. It's a graduated discount that grows based upon what you spend. Of course, since the station is on the Kansas side, the prices are a bit higher, but most of the time the discounts are enough to put you below KCMO gas prices. It's nowhere as convenient as buying my liquor in my local grocery store, but with their prices, selection and location just a few blocks South of 75th, this liquor store has what it takes to keep bringing me back.

Even though we live in the 21st Century, the state of Kansas still has a law which prohibits alcohol (except for beer) to be sold in grocery stores. Thankfully, Hy-Vee Grocery (which is on the Kansas side) acquired this location (which is on the Missouri side) about a decade ago, I believe. In a way, I'm glad. I truly feel this way, the focus can be JUST on the alcohol (even though you lose in the convenience department), & with such focus, I believe the quality shines through. When you walk in, the store is sectioned off with wine to the right (in its own area) ... alcohol (vodka, run, gin, etc.) predominantly in the middle, & beer along the back wall (with a walk-in cooler near the back as well.) Cash registers (selling mini bottles of spirits, as well as cigs & cigars, + lottery) at the front, is to the right as you walk in.The choices of beers (i.e. craft, brewery beers) are amazing, with selections changing as the seasons shift. Great selection of liquor, as well. The wine department is very nice, with rotating selections as the year goes by, as well. I LOVE they have a huge assortment of white wines in the cold box up front. The machine that chills your bottle is OK, but having a bottle already chilled, & thus ready to pour into a glass when I get home = AWESOME!!!!! I have so many new varieties I want to try, from just shopping the rows!!! Also, don't forget to sign up for e-mail newsletters, which highlight wine tastings (the kind you sit down at, that last around 90 minutes!) that are offered once a month (other, day-by-day tastings of various alcohol are also offered.)Staff is very helpful, very nice, all around amazing. Prices can't be beat, either. I've compared, & generally the prices are cheaper then at MDL Wine & Spirits, or other alcohol retailers, on the Kansas side. So state of Kansas, continue to live in the dark ages; Missouri will continue to be the side to party on (or at least, where to buy FOR the party! LOL)

I was so disappointed in the craft beer selection. Had talked to a couple hyvee Gents at Growler Guys about it. Lead me to believe they'd have quite a selection. Not promising at all. I search for new breweries, new brews. Head to the local coffee grounds ,or growler guys. They have a better selection each week.
