I want thank the landscaping team at Horizonal Earth works for our new hard scape patio and fire place. It turn out beautiful and we have been getting a lot of uses out of the patio and fireplace. Have found outdoor fireplace is the only way to go, you and your guest don't smell like smoke at the end of evening, all smoke is divert up the stack. It really adds a touch of class to the back yard. Thank you to Scott and Becky for all their hard work and a professional work ethic. I know my wife ended up changing a few things midstream and they were more than happy to accommodate. They even restore the grass, when they left all I had was a beautiful patio. Could not tell any kind of construction even happen. Professional job and fair price. Ron H.Home ownerLee Summit

I made the unfortunate mistake of hiring Horizontal Earthworks for landscaping work on my property. For the amount of money that I paid them to have the work done ($3800), I assumed that I was hiring a team of professional landscapers. Instead, I was surprised to find out that Horizontal Earthworks employs a group of very low wage college kids that spend as much time standing around goofing off (I was able to record them on my Ring security camera) as they do working, often entirely unsupervised. When I informed the owner of the unprofessional behavior of his workers, he told me: "they're young, what do you expect."Of course, the supervisor for Horizontal Earthworks, Becky, when she is on the job site, is incredibly slow, this is perhaps due to the fact that she frequently stops working and checks her Facebook status on her cell phone, which I observed her doing on several occasions. Thankfully, I did NOT hire Horizontal Earthworks to install a backyard patio. The owner (Scott Mayer) gave me a quote on a poured concrete patio installation ($6500) that was more than double the average price (average $3000). Scott told me that it would take 4-5 days to complete the job...I hired another contractor (who is licensed and insured) who completed the job for $2800 in a little over one day. Three grown men came to my property and quickly completed the work and no supervisor was needed.
