My husband had the French dip sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fries were excellent. He said the sandwich was good. I had French onion soup and spinach salad. The soup looked great. It tasted ok. I think I'm used to my own homemade, rich, seasoned broth. This soup needed some flavor. The salad was ok. I just haven't found my savory dish here yet. The hot cookie was the highlight of my meal. If they could do a PB cookie like this, that would be outstanding.

We took my parents here last week! They were pleasantly surprised! Some of the dishes we had were the tenderloin and steak nachos! Soooo good! As always, staff was great! Super friendly, helpful and attentive. We will be back, and my family from out of town said they would be too!

This place is another one in Saint Joseph that gives you that feel like you were in a cowboy movie. I want to say this building was built in the 1860s or something close to that. They had a lot of drink and beer options, but since it was a working lunch, I just opted for the iced tea that tasted good. I went with the sirloin steak with a baked potato side of veggies, and a salad. Everything was tasty and the waitress was on point and very friendly. All in all definitely worth a stop.

Went here for customer lunch. We each had steaks and the were both good and cooked to med rare. Building is down in the old stockyards area of St Joe. If you like country fried steak, this place is prob up your alley. Lots of dishes with gravy.

What a find , we are from Illinois reading the positive reviews , didn't do this place justice. Maybe it is because I am a fan of discovery. The place is in the middle of industrial decline but preserved . I'm also a big fan of the railroad feel of the location. split the big rib eye with wife If you like steak go here ! And enjoy a modest priced big time steak Love it!

Authentic country steak - nice place - good environment! Steak was prepared quick! Busy even during weekdays. Also located in historic area of old town.

It's an old classic, been in business a long time and it's not hard to understand why (spoiler: great food). I have to admit I personally don't go here often because I'm a vegetarian and picky. However I had out of town guests and I knew this was the place to go for them to try really fresh good meat since the stockyards are close by (which explains the unusual location). I personally love their skillet Mac & cheese, and there are a few vegetarian options although the main focus is still the meat. It's a much better menu balance than some others that try to do too much and can't do anything well or that _only_ serve steak which gets awkward as a vegetarian.It can take some time to get a table here during peak times and the speed of service is clearly affected but considering our group size and the overall occupancy I think the staff handled it as well as anyone could under the circumstances. I overheard someone in our group say it was the best steak they ever had, so while I personally lack the experience I think it's pretty safe to for me to recommend to meat lovers too.P.S. the dinner rolls are really good. In my opinion one can tell a lot about a restaurant just from the complementary item.

Against our better judgment we gave this place another shot only because frankly St. Joseph is sorely lacking in any good food. Mostly just fast food chains. This time for lunch we ordered reubens. I don't know about you, but when I think of a reuben it is on rye bread and has sauerkraut. Nope, not here. It was on white bread, a smudge of cheese in the center and some dressing. The corned beef {or whatever that meat was} was shredded and dry, also tasted smokey. Only good thing was the french fries. Again the wait staff was great and very attentive.

Highly recommended! Had steak and prime rib, absolutely delicious! Excellent service, quickly seated on a busy night
